23.01.2022 How did your Aussie Bird Count go? I only did it once and discovered 9 species, although there are many more that frequent my patch. My favourite bird at this time of year is the melodic Rufous Whistler https://www.graemechapman.com.au/library/viewphotos.php I also found an article from 1932 about this songster https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/46847224 Which birds are you enjoying?

10.01.2022 We have some fantastic feathery news for you! Three critically endangered Regent Honeyeater fledglings have been sighted on private property near Chiltern wit...h their captive-bred parents. The parents were part of our 2017 release into the Chiltern Mount Pilot National Park. Researchers say three successfully fledged birds from one clutch is extremely rare and that this sighting is the most significant breeding success in 30 years. The family were captured in this video, filmed by Natural Environment Program Officer Glen Johnson. In another exciting event, a wild female and captive-bred male released in 2017 were recently sighted feeding their young fledgling on private property in Greta West. During the past five years more than 175 Regent Honeyeaters have been released in the Chiltern- Mount Pilot National Park as part of a partnership between DELWP, BirdLife Australia, Taronga Zoo Sydney, North East CMA, Parks Victoria and a range of community groups and volunteers. These new fledglings show the program is successful in continuing to add to the struggling wild population of Regent Honeyeaters. You can help the species’ recovery by reporting all sightings to BirdLife Australia on 1800 621 05.
