23.01.2022 ATTENTION PARENTS/STUDENTS END OF YEAR PERFORMANCES To update and let you all know what’s happening;... As stated at the start of the year, this year we weren’t going to be doing large scale productions for our EOY showcases for our students. This was based on a number of factors, for example; Everyone pays the same, so it would be unfair for parents of students who’s child only got minor roles. The decision was made at the start of the year that our showcases would be more ‘black box’/eisteddfod style performances to more fairly feature all students. Regardless of Covid hitting, this was still the plan. With Covid impacting classes, theatres and audiences all round, the decision was made that for this year, these performances would be recorded and broadcast live to everyone at the same time. You may be asking, Restrictions have been lifted, shouldn’t they be one stage? The short answer is no. Our theatre stage and auditorium is still out of action for upcoming renovations as talked about in BTGs live with the President broadcasts. Hence why BTG main stage productions also haven’t returned like other local theatre companies. We were working with council and other facilities to get our students on a stage somewhere, but unfortunately this hasn’t been able to come to fruition. So, this year we are still going ahead with the online plan. Currently, our plan is to record all class/students performances in week 9 and 10 of this term and broadcast the video live, Friday night of week 10 (December 11). This video will be made available for the entire weekend so everyone has a chance to watch and those who wouldn’t normally be able to attend the theatre physically, also can view the performances. We know all students and tutors have been working hard this term preparing for showcases, so we wanted to make sure that they still have this opportunity to show off their talent! So, to summarise; EOY performances are ONLINE this year, broadcast on Friday Dec 11 (remaining up over the entire weekend). As always, feel free to let us know of any of your questions. Please keep in mind that CSS is run completely by volunteers who all have full time jobs. So sometimes we don’t always the chance to get back to you quickly. Thanks again, CSS Team
