23.01.2022 Harvest is just around the corner at Marion’s and the weather is so perfect for bringing the sugars and acids in balance, creating flavour profiles I feel taking place as I stand in the cellar door or sitting in the kafenio or harvesting the abundance in my veggie patch despite the theft every night by the possums and wallabies who think I planted it all for them. I guess sometimes you have to share the amazing gifts nature has bestowed upon this land, rewarding us for our relentless efforts daily. Days like today create a satisfying feeling of one’s hard work and create a content that is beyond words. Thoughts and sayings like This is the day the Lord has made and I’m ecstatic to dwell in it have crossed my mind more than once today. In short, I love where I live and I’m very thankful for the gifts Gaia bestows on me every day.

17.01.2022 One of our spring time favourites is wallaby pie, prepared fresh in our kitchen. Each one is a mouthful of fantastic flavour, and you might even taste the vines in there too. #foodandwine

16.01.2022 With harvest over, all the babies tucked in for another year, I feel blessed for the incredible abundance in my life and the magic that is Marion’s vineyard.

15.01.2022 Friday March 16th first day of harvesting at Marion’s vineyard. Picked some delicious Chardonnay followed by Saturday with some great Pinot Noir. Hopefully the rain that followed won’t change the structure and flavour of the rest of the crop. Definitely not normal weather for harvest time. We truly are in the laps of the Gods in our industry in Tasmania, but the challenges create the wonderful wines that only our regions can contribute to the vast Australian wine world.

09.01.2022 Finished summer pruning at the house block. All 5 varieties look healthy and lots of great fruit. The Pinot Noir at Marion's lower diagonal started ripening already, hiding under an incredible canopy that needs to be tamed before the nets go on. In my 37 years here, I've never seen so much growth!

05.01.2022 What a glorious morning !!!! Sunrise was amazing, awesome, fantastic and enjoyable. Best part of the day. Later on we had a few drops of rain, but not enough to stop tourist from enjoying the wine tastings and the views from the extended deck at the cellar door. We harvested some grapes from the vine covered taverna overlooking the vineyard and estuary, and the 3rd generation along with the second generation squashed the grapes for some verjuice, to be soon available at... the cellar door. We are getting closer to the day when we will get back to creating lunches, catering for functions. We plan to stay open through the problems facing us and the world, and we hope people will come and support us. Harvest is a bit late this year due to colder weather but we are looking forward to a great season for vintage 2020 which is our 40th year since we turn the sod and planted the first vines at Marion’s vineyard. I’m optimistic for the future of this blessed place. We’ve experienced so many ups and downs through the years and the future looks bright for three generations living loving and working on this land now. Cynthea, daughter and wine maker has created new wines from our 16 estate grown varieties while son Nick has been busy creating a deck and bar in front of the cellar door, virtually doubling the cellar door space, which allows visitors to just sit and contemplate the serenity and beauty of our world beauty spot while sipping a glass of wine....... you just have to come and experience it yourselves! 01.01.2022 I have the best office in the world. Working on getting it ready for more people to enjoy. Our kafenio is getting revamped to offer lunches and special functions for the future. Getting closer every day. Can’t wait to share it with all who visit Marion’s vineyard.
