25.01.2022 We have started to see some wildlife coming in lost or injured from the horrible fires we have been experiencing. These two cuties appear to have displaced by the Border fire. Thankfully they don’t have any burns and are off getting the TLC that they need.

25.01.2022 There was an issue with our on call phone yesterday which led to clients being unable to reach us. We were unaware of the issue until this morning. However the problem has now been resolved. We sincerely apologise to any clients who attempted to ring yesterday. If you need any assistance today feel free to call on 0408420252

25.01.2022 Hills pet food are offering discounts on their dental care diet this month. Come in to grab a great deal on Hills T/D, these biscuits are designed to remove plaque from the teeth. We feel they are one of the best ways to keep your pets smiles healthy.

24.01.2022 Towamba clients, one of our vets will be out your way on Wednesday. If you have any jobs that you have been putting off (horse dentals, vaccinations ect) let us know and we can add you to the list to save on mileage costs!

24.01.2022 With a cold weekend forecast this weekend it was great to see Clive Wheelers mum Lauren is thinking ahead and fitting him out with one of our toasty warm Kersey Wool dog rugs...thanks Lauren & Clive for sending us these great photos

24.01.2022 One of the perks of being a vets kid on school holidays, baby wombat cuddles as they wake up out of their sedation

24.01.2022 A somber New Years to all. While we are not officially open today we have multiple vets available to help with any injured pets or wildlife. Please give our after hours number a ring if you need on 0408 420 252. Basic assessment and treatment of any fire affected animals will be free of charge. The Bega clinic will be open tomorrow during normal business hours and as always we will have an emergency vet available 24hrs. Unfortunately we are still unsure of the extent of fir...e damage to our Cobargo clinic. We want to reassure all our clients north of Bega that we will endevour to have services available as soon as we are able. We want to offer all our clients in the fire affected areas any support we can and we are here to help both you and your animals during this heartbreaking time.

23.01.2022 Our very own Dr Jess will be on ABC radio this morning talking about spring fledglings

23.01.2022 Today is VETERINARY NURSE DAY!! We would like to wish all of our amazing Vet Nurses a very Happy Vet Nurse Day! All of our vet nurses are not only highly skilled members of our team, they are compassionate, diligent, caring and dedicated. They are often the glue that holds our hospitals together, but so much of their job can go unseen. We wanted to take this day to tell them that we are so proud of all that they do and we are grateful that they are our colleagues and frie...nds. Thank you Sophie, Nathanial, Kate, Jen, Sarah, Christie, Lee, Carly and Raelene, you guys are amazing, and we’re so glad you chose to work with us here at Bega and Cobargo Vets!

22.01.2022 Notice to our clients. We will not be opening until 9 am tomorrow as we will be having an important staff meeting first thing. We will have our on call vet answering the emergency phone. But please delay any bookings or purchases until we are officially open at 9am.

22.01.2022 Good news Veterinary services are an essential service so we will be here for you throughout this crisis to help with and service you and your animals, whatever their needs may be. Fleas, ticks and worms don’t care that there is a pandemic, so it is important to make sure your pets preventative products are up to date and maintained through the coming months. We have all our usual products available and on display. There is no need to panic buy, all of our routine products... and medications are available to pick up at any time and if you ring ahead we will deliver them to your car as soon as you arrive. We have prescription diets for those pets that have specific food requirements, which can be particularly important when stressful situations and environmental changes occur. Our over the counter treats and comfy beds are all here for your pets comfort while they are social distancing from their animal mates. If you have any questions or requests then please call us, we might look funny in our animal themed masks but we will endeavour to help in any way we can.

22.01.2022 Even though it is nice to see wet green grass again, it’s important to make sure you manage it carefully for your cows. The moist warm nights are ideal for facial eczema spore growth in the right pastures, and for bushfire affected pastures the rapid regrowth could lead to clostridial disease or acidosis from lack of fibre. If you have concerns make sure chat to someone experienced in these topics.

21.01.2022 With the current fire situation, we are opening our Bega clinic to emergencies only. Obviously our Cobargo hospital will be closed until further notice. Any clients with appointments today will be contacted this morning. If you are uncertain how urgent your animals condition is, we will be able to provide initial advice over the phone.... Please stay safe everyone.

21.01.2022 We have had a lost bunny rabbit brought into the clinic today. We think he strayed too far from his home. Give us a call if you recognise him. He was found on Newtown Rd near Prospect St.

21.01.2022 We think the beautiful "Fleur" looks fabulous in her cosy warm new Polarfleece dog jacket !! Our dog jackets have been selling like hotcakes!!! so we're pleased to say we will be receiving another shipment on Friday

21.01.2022 If you feel like you have had a hard weekend, so does Maggie! Nine pups on Sunday, then Dr Nicky had to help her with the final five with a Caesarian last night. All 14 are all going well but I don’t think poor Maggie will get any rest for a while!

20.01.2022 We're very excited to receive our new order of dog rugs just in time for the cold weather , these beautiful warm rugs are made from Kersey wool with sherpa lining

19.01.2022 Happy birthday to the new Bega Veterinary Hospital it is ten years this week since the team moved into our new purpose built hospital in North Bega. We never thought we would fill such an enormous building, but now we feel like we are always running out of space! Check out the car park last week, every space had a Ute parked in it!

18.01.2022 Bega and Cobargo Vet Hospitals believe that your pet and livestock health is paramount to a healthy community. It’s important to us that with the developing COVID-19 situation we do our best to ensure the we can still look after your pets, our staff and help our community with this evolving issue. At the present time we are still available for all routine bookings however we are going to instigate precautions based off NSW Health and the Australian Veterinary Association reco...mmendations. We will keep all clients updated on any changes that we are required to instigate as this situation evolves. We naturally maintain a high level of hygiene in our hospitals but we feel this is a time for increased diligence. To this end: - We will provide access to hand washing and hand sanitisers, please use these on arrival and after your visit. -Where possible we ask that only one person accompanies your animal into the clinic. We understand this isn’t always possible and can make accommodations if required. - If you are unwell or are self isolating and need our veterinary help please contact us via phone to see how we can help you and your animals through this time. - Please consider assessing any prescription medications your pet receives on a regular basis. Call us if you feel you will need further medication in the short term so we can endeavour to provide the appropriate stock for you and your pet. We appreciate your understanding throughout this time, we know that as a community we are strong and we are here to support you and your pet to our best ability.

18.01.2022 Dr Peter received this wonderful hand-made gift from one of our great clients yesterday. Isn’t it lovely?

16.01.2022 Our clinic is sadly saying farewell to some of our support staff soon, however this gives us the opportunity to look for new members to our team. Read on if you like the thought of joining our busy mixed animal veterinary clinic. The Bega and Cobargo Veterinary Hospitals are seeking a qualified, experienced veterinary nurse and/or receptionist for a full time position in our busy veterinary hospital. The position will be primarily based in our Bega hospital but occasional wor...k in our Cobargo practice may be needed. Some Saturday morning work is required. The position will involve all aspects of veterinary nursing including general nursing duties, assistance in hospital admission and discharge, reception/administration, and effectively communicating with clients and staff. The ideal applicant would be a qualified vet nurse, however an applicant with excellent customer service experience, and animal husbandry knowledge would be considered to fill our front of house role. Please send applications to the Partners at 9-11 Ridge St Bega or E mail [email protected]

16.01.2022 We are here for you throughout the Easter long weekend. If your animals need veterinary assistance you can phone our on-call vet at any time. Happy Easter from all of us at Bega and Cobargo Veterinary Hospitals.

16.01.2022 We have been astounded by the support from the community and in particular the veterinary community since the Cobargo & Quamma bushfires. Thanks to donations from many different sources we have been able to provide veterinary care to many more animals. Special thanks go out to World Vets, Provet, Zoetis, Bayer and Animal Rescue Collective Canberra for all that food in the photo!

15.01.2022 We are thankful that there was no fire damage to our clinic in Cobargo and now that power is back on, the doors are open again! Caroline has opened the doors today, Christie will be back tomorrow and Mel will be in from next week so please drop in if you need to catch up with your vet supplies. As everyone tries to put this devastating experience behind them, we are glad to assist in the recovery, let us know how we can help you and your animals.

13.01.2022 Good to see lots of local faces at the Dairy Research Foundation Symposium. It’s nice to see these events coming down our neck of the woods. Good selection of topics coming up this afternoon.

13.01.2022 This explains why we have changed how we are undertaking our consultations. It is extremely difficult to maintain a safe social distance of 1.5m when working with animals, sometimes it’s more like a game of twister! We believe these rules are important for our communities safety and that of our staff. That’s why we are asking everyone to be patient as we adapt to our new temporary working conditions.

12.01.2022 For anyone who has fire affected animals that need treatment we will be at the Cobargo show grounds today if anyone needs our help. Can you please spread the word as phone and internet are down in the Cobargo area.

12.01.2022 An important notice for clients with stock or property damage due to the bushfires. We have been working with the LLS and they have a lot of help to offer. Please get in contact with them if you are bushfire affected.

11.01.2022 Dental health month isn’t just about dogs and cats. We have multiple vets who have extra training in looking after your horses teeth. Because horses teeth are constantly erupting (they are called hypsodont teeth) it is recommended to get your horses teeth checked yearly to keep them in optimum alignment

11.01.2022 Due to an overwhelming response to our handmade/Aussie made dog jackets we're just letting everyone know that another delivery has just arrived at the Bega Vets!!! We have Anna & Bruno Otton modelling their new jackets this morning, Anna is actually wearing a custom made French Bulldog Jacket, other breed specific jackets are also an option

11.01.2022 To keep our staff current, we are having staff training on Wednesday, November 18th commencing at 5pm. The clinic will close at 5pm, however you may still call the usual phone number 64921837 and you will be given the vet on dutys number.

10.01.2022 This delightful trio (Poppet, Puppet and Bruce) recently visited us after their observant owner noticed Poppet’s legs weren’t looking quite as sleek as normal. 10.01.2022 Great news, both ginger kittens from last week have found their forever homes. We now have this gorgeous RSPCA brother and sister available for adoption (individual or as a pair). Drop in to see them if you are interested.

10.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that we have had a very cute lost kitten bought into the Clinic, sadly this little kitten has no microchip which makes it impossible to find it's owner , so if you have recently lost a kitten please call the Bega Vets on 64921837 and describe your kitten, we would love nothing more than to reunite it with it's family

10.01.2022 Merry christmas to all from us here at Bega & Cobargo Vets (and our models Pizzle & Rex!). We are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years, but open normal hours on all other days. Don’t worry, we will always have an emergency vet on call for any holiday mishaps though (0408 420 252)

10.01.2022 We have been working closely with the AWL these last few days, their help has been greatly appreciated. They will still have Vets at the Bega evacuation centre for any animals there needing assessment. Feel free to call our clinic if you want to see you of our vets or drop in at the AWL tent near the pavilion at the Showgrounds. We are here to support you and your animals through this, please stay safe.

09.01.2022 Another Hendra virus case has been confirmed in NSW. Hendra virus is an important disease all horse owners need to be aware of and planned for. Even down here on the south coast it is important to discuss with your vet to see what is the best management plan for you and your horses.

08.01.2022 We have been incredibly grateful to have had the support of World Vets these last few weeks. We have had both volunteers helping us to keep up with the workload as well as donated stock to assist with treating affected animals. Big thanks to all involved!

08.01.2022 We try to make your pets visit as relaxing as possible, but if your dog or cat hates leaving the house, we can come to you! House visits all over the Bega valley can be organised, just talk to our receptionists if you think this is better for your pet.

08.01.2022 Hooray for a little bit of rain, please keep it coming! Our Vet Leah will be in the Cobargo area today, but our office will be closed. 06.01.2022 COVID-19 Temporary Safety Precautions The animals we treat and their owners are at the forefront of our mind during this evolving pandemic crisis. As medical professionals we deal with biosecurity every day, this is what we are trained in, and we are dedicated to being here to protect the safety and wellbeing of our patients, clients, staff and community. To ensure that we can continue to service you, your pets and all livestock we have decided to undertake some significan...t changes to our daily service. From Tuesday March 24th 2020 we will now be running a carpark service only. Our front door will be locked and clients will be unable to enter the building. This is a temporary measure that can change as the situation necessitates. 05.01.2022 We have been receiving queries about how to manage horses affected by smoke and should they be exercised at the moment. I know it’s hard but just like us they need to be rested. UC Davis put out some great information after the wildfires that affected California in 2017. Definitely worth a read. https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu//guidelines-horses-exposed-
