17.01.2022 \\ Artist spotlight: Marlné Claudine Radice \\ Marlene is an Australian composer who specialises in notated electroacoustic composition by exploring how art and sound complement one another. Taking recorded sounds away from their original sources, she processes and manipulates these into new musical structures. Raw industrial noises, looped voices and hypnotic soundscapes are layered to create a nuanced and original sound. Her creative practice primarily deals with the identity politics of queer femme bodies. Interested in the innate desire that humans have to belong as well as to rebel, Miriam approaches creating with a strong focus on community, immersion and interaction. With an Honours in Visual Arts from ANU (2017), they have also undertaken training in areas such as Butoh dance and Action Theatre both in Australia and overseas. Miriam has wor...ked with Little Dove Theatre Art and Shadow House Pits, and toured shows nationally through the Fringe circuit (Ophelia’s Shadow, 2018). A founding member of Acoustic Theatre and half of the comedy duo Sweaty Pits, Miriam uses their diverse creative platforms to open discussions around connectivity, queer expression, and performance activism. 05.01.2022 \\ Artist Spotlight: byrd \\ byrd works in an ongoing capacity as a freelance muralist, producing signage and murals from the domestic to commercial in scale as well as producing compositions of his own in public spaces. byrd’s studio practice surveys a re-claim and reuse agenda, made evident in the ornamental surfacing and resurfacing of walls and other historied grounds (both built and found), with an accumulated library of marks, patterns and icons. byrd has works held in... the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra Museum and Gallery, the ACT Legislative Assembly Art Collection, the ARTBANK collection, Craft ACT and various private collections both locally and abroad.
