25.01.2022 Planning some smart self care for 2020? Having someone to stand beside you, offer strategies and tools and cheer you on will maximise your efforts like never before! I would LOVE the opportunity to be that person. Until 24th December I have a special offer for your amazing 2020.

25.01.2022 #2 Wellbeing Routine tip: Breakfast. Today I’m championing the morning feed. Poor old breakfast has taken a popularity downturn of late. The word breakfast means what it says- it’s the meal we break our fast with. In these days of intermittent fasting, we have kind of lost sight of the reality that we already ARE fasting intermittently. Dropping off those supper treats can add hours to your fast without forgoing breakfast. So why is breakfast an important routine? Your ...kids need breakfast, and still need to see healthy habits modelled. Children have faster metabolisms and need to eat regularly to keep up with their body’s demands. Your energy stores are already depleted from an overnight fast and are crying out for a top up. This can trigger stress hormones making us irritable, tired and less mentally alert. Food is an influencer on our neurotransmitters and these fellas love a combination of protein and carbs, so they can help you to stay calm, alert, have a better attention span and be better behaved! (same goes for kids :) ) If you skip breakfast your mid-morning craves will turn to quick fix high glycaemic snack to beat the shortfall of ready energy. It’s a perfect time to connect with the family, check in on plans for the day, share where you need one another’s help. Poached eggs on wholemeal toast, anyone?

24.01.2022 Wondering how to talk to your kids about Covid-19? Some great resources available from Emerging Minds https://emergingminds.com.au//communicating-with-your-chi/

23.01.2022 Love this! ( I also need to do this )

17.01.2022 There’s something so simple and profound in this that reminds me what life is all about..

15.01.2022 #3 Wellbeing Routine tip: Get Up and get moving. Are you facing some " I can't go anywhere" days? The danger is to slip into a languishing routine. Motivation and productivity drop. Days drift by. Your mental health will thank you if you set some goals, however small, for each day. ... Here’s some Tips for a Wellness morning routine: The day before jot down what you need/want to achieve. Give each item a rating of o 1 really needs to happen, o 2- needs to but could wait a day, or o 3- I’d love to do this but if it doesn’t happen in the next 3 days I will survive it. Two things to consider 1. Some selfcare is still important and depending how you are feeling may be a 1,2 or 3, and 2. remember -you own the list, the list does not own you. Give yourself a set time to be be showered, dressed, semi presentable. If active wear helps you feel more motivated, go with it. Crank up the music. Consider a time of reflection, meditation or prayer to bring your day into line with your values. Put your electronic servants to work early, eg, run the washing machine before 10am so the clothes are on the line by 12 and dry by 5.Get some vital sun-sourced Vitamin D rather than turning to the dryer.. Be realistic. If you have children under 5 then having a spotless home is not going to be a priority. If you can, make a game of household activities, include the kids and be kinder to yourself by lowering your standards. See you tomorrow for another Well-being Routines Tip. x (Photo credit:Joe Caione, Unsplash)

14.01.2022 So, how IS everyone going? How are you feeling about the new wave in Melbourne? I'm reminded again how valuable being proactive in having a quiet time in my life can be. Many have a spiritual centre where they can find "still waters". I encourage clients to not wait for the crisis, but bank a little calm through meditation that will help you face unexpected trials.

13.01.2022 Who am I ... really?? There’s incredible power in discovering our true identity. It’s so common to be travelling on a false identity. It feels like constantly trying to wear clothes that are 3 sizes too small. If you’re ready to throw off those restrictive clothes and want to start living truer to yourself, I can help you start that journey.

12.01.2022 #4 Wellbeing routines tip. Remember to breathe! While we breathe 24-7, most of us are really not that good at it! When anxiety rises our breaths can become shallow. We start employing our chest, shoulder and neck muscles to do the work. The best breathing, however, comes out of our belly area, when we allow the muscles that can make our tummy protrude to do the work of drawing in air to our lungs. This actually sends a message to our brain that we are not at risk and has the flow on effect of calming down our mind and our emotions. When this happens, we are able to process more clearly. 3-5 long slow breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth using this technique a few times a day really will make a difference to your stress levels.

11.01.2022 An antidote for anxiety? Prof Hugh Mackay, an amazing Social Researcher says anxiety is linked to poor social connection and the antidote is reaching out with compassion to one another. His research predates Covid-19 and I can't help thinking that the rise in social isolation correlates strongly with increased anxiety in this season. What do you think? I would love to hear others thoughts... (Photo: Upsplash, credit j-w-JW-lTC1CcOw)

07.01.2022 If family life is a bit tough right now, especially if teenagers are involved, take heart. These days of enforced closeness will have rhythms and phases. It can be a relief to know you're in a process. While your family might not be new, there's less escapes to let off steam, no ducking down to the skate park/ gym/ coffee with friends to run from the tension. We are all in a new space. Bruce Tuckman's group development model suggests groups go through phases, although no...Continue reading

07.01.2022 We’re facing tricky times as COVID19 creates a business as unusual situation. Our opportunities for socialising are diminishing on a daily basis, even usual work environments may fall victim. Being isolated without a say can create feelings of loneliness and echo times when you felt rejected and lonely. If you know this is you, please reach out and let trusted friends know you’re feeling vulnerable, or seek help. Video-link sessions are available. (Photo by Chinh Le Duc on Unsplash)

06.01.2022 We all have character strengths* that we forget to use. Which ones resonate with you? Can you tap into these today in a new way to help you in a challenge you’re facing? * from the VIA Institute.

05.01.2022 The life you have led doesn't need to be the only life you have. Anna Quindlen. Sometimes we can feel hemmed in by the past and moving forward in a new way can feel like a huge challenge and yet we all have untapped potential just waiting to be released! If you want tomorrow's journey to look different from yesterday's road, let's talk. (photo credit: Clemens-van-ley)

02.01.2022 What does self care look like for you? Today I’m stepping out of usual routines and having some chill time. Self care is more than an aromatherapy candle and a massage, it’s about knowing you can step aside from the bustle of life and the world will keep spinning. Sometimes problems surprise us and sort themselves while you’re not focusing on them. (Artwork by @laruaheartlines)

01.01.2022 I FOUND a day this week.. thinking it was Friday and it was Thursday. Bonus! It can happen when our routines are disrupted, or we are feeling additional stress. At this time, it is even more important to maintain structure in our days. While we are keeping physically healthy through safety measures, we also need to maintain our mental, emotional and spiritual health. Over the next ten days I’ll be posting tips for Wellbeing routines. To keep following, please like and follo...w my page, and invite others who may benefit. Today’s Wellbeing Routine tip: Start your day the night before :) Decide on a reasonable bed- time and stick to it. Set your alarm for one hour before and try a slow- burn get ready for bed routine. Choose to not check your phone for another update, social media response or message. They will ALL be there waiting for you in the morning. Plug your phone in another room so it is not beside you as you sleep. If you use it for a morning alarm all the better - you will be up before you know it! You might use the hour before bed to do something calming, here's some suggestions- Treat yourself to an above average skin care routine. Take a half hour bath Give your bedside table a quick tidy up so you’re waking up to some calm space. Immerse yourself in some light fiction from a real book. Find a space on the floor and indulge in some personal stretches and deep breathing. If you live with someone, reflect together on your day find three things in your day that nurtured you in some way. If you live alone, write it down using an old-fashioned pen and paper. If you can’t locate three things, consider what you are thankful for today. If you have the luxury of a partner, make time for a long no- demand hug. Once you turn out the light, ground yourself in the sounds, smells and sensations you can identify in the darkness. Increasing awareness of sensory input can help us experience the now and give us respite from anxious thoughts of tomorrow. See you tomorrow for another Well-being Routines Tip. x
