Scents and air diffusers help to bring the outside in as we invite the garden, forest and fresh aromas into our home. Plants can work as a natural diffuser to keep the air clean. 16.01.2022 At Home Base we are busy creating an online Interior Design course to be released next month in May, 2020. The online course will provide a learning experience complete with a guided presentation, activities and demonstrations. This will be a course for home owners, builders and industry specialists looking to up-skill during the social distancing period. Its also going to be a welcomed addition to the course offerings at Home Base in future as an option for people preferring to learn online at times that suit them, with the option to start the course on any date. Making connections through colour relationships, shape, texture, pattern and themes allows different fabrics, finishes and colour schemes to combine to create compatible non-matched interiors. Blending styles is a great way to achieve an interesting decor look. Curating your interior means telling a story with pieces that flow visually. Try adding a colour accent that pulls your room together or mixing the ...tones to create a light, medium, dark palette with a bright accent. Mix fabric textures from smooth to more tactile and furniture finishes from matte to metallics and reflective surfaces. The patterns in your room emphasise your theme. 10.01.2022 AUGUST PHOTO ALBUM- BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! Inspiration for improving your home on a budget. The quickest way to show visible improvement to the aesthetics of your home is to focus on the following areas: 1/- Repair anything that is broken such as guttering, roof tiles, gates, fences, faucets, doors or cabinets. 2/- Throw away rubbish and take unwanted items to the tip, advertise or donate items. De-clutter your belongings so that your storage areas can be more organised and you ...are mindful of what you have for when you need it. 3/- Restore any furniture pieces you wish to keep, put floor protectors on your chair legs, clean and protect fabrics and leathers. Steam clean rugs and carpets. 4/- Re-grout tiled areas, re-surface tops and replace tap ware and mirrors that have tarnished. 5/- Replace carpet and lighting with LED if down lighting, if CFL ensure the colour is the same throughout the house, warm or day white. Warm is ambient and less bright, Day is clearer and brighter. Do not use cool lighting which has a blue undertone. Add feature lights over the island bench, dining table or powder room. 6/- Update your style with art placement, throws and cushions. Your bed linen styling may need an update too. Create a drop zone. 7/- Update your garden by tidying and focusing on the areas that are a feature such as by the front door and any areas visible from inside to create an attractive aspect. 8/- Wash the walls and paint any marked walls. A less expensive painting solution is to repaint with the same colour and just do the walls that must be done. If your paint colour is tired or incompatible with the home choose a new colour that can be applied throughout and apply room by room to update, beginning with the front entry and living areas. 9/- Clean your windows. Update window coverings with what you can afford in the right colour and style. Roller blinds and Venetian blinds are the most affordable solutions. If choosing 1 roller blind, a block out on bedrooms and translucent on living areas would be a good choice. Venetian blinds offer both varied light and block out with the 1 blind. There will be a small amount of light around the outside edge of the blinds in both cases when fitted into a window recess. 10/- Love your home more.
