16.01.2022 The Bellarine Peninsula is a unique and distinctive area, well loved for its beautiful coastline, aesthetic agricultural land and native vegetation. We are excited to announce that @bellarinecatchmentnetwork have been granted funding through the DELWP BarwonSouthWest Distinctive Areas and Landscapes programme. This investment of $500,000 will be spread across three financial years and will support existing programmes, new initiatives and on ground works across the Bellarine... Peninsula. In total, 30 projects will be supported, with further initiatives to be developed over the three years through community workshops, input and priority projects. Some of these programs/projects include 20 school environment days annually, a Coastal Education Trailer, Indigenous Flora Booklet publications and up to a dozen on ground works sites annually. It will allow action planning and community priority setting for projects including biolinks, Gardens for Wildlife, weed control and cultural connections. We will be working very closely with the community and can't wait to share some of these initiatives! To find out more about this investment, head to our website: www.environmentbellarine.org.au/cb_pages/dal.php #dal #distinctiveareasandlandscapes

13.01.2022 Did you know that we have around 2000 thousand species of native bees in Australia? When people think of 'pollinators', the first thing that might spring to mind are European Honeybees. However, we have so many amazing native pollinators helping to put food on our plates. We have lots of native bees like the Blue-banded Bee, moths and butterflies, flies like Hover Flies and other insects.... The #WildPollinatorCount is an opportunity for you to contribute to wild pollinator insect conservation in Australia. This weekend, head to your garden or local reserve to count wild pollinators in your local environment! Get involve here: https://wildpollinatorcount.com/

03.01.2022 Our favourite thing about education is seeing the fruits of true creativity! To teach our Coastcarers more about #Ramsar wetlands, we asked them to create a poster about a migratory bird, the places they visit, the threats they face and what we can all do to help protect them. This amazing poster was created by Ella from Our Lady Star of the Sea Ocean Grove. Well done Ella!! ... #Ramsarwetlands #BellarinePeninsula Wing Threads
