20.01.2022 DO YOU HAVE ACHILLES OR HEEL PAIN? FINDING IT HARD TO WALK OR RUN WITHOUT STOPPING? DO YOU ALWAYS FEEL TIGHT IN THE CALVES? YOU MAY HAVE ACHILLES TENDONITIS THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE SEE AND TREAT REGULARLY AT BELLARINE CHIROPRACTIC AND PODIATRY. ... CALL 52552200, 0439559173 or book online https://www.bellarinechiropractic.com.au/ What is Achilles Tendonitis? Achilles tendonitis is inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which attaches the calf muscles to the heel bone. In most cases, Achilles tendonitis is a type of overuse injury. Professional and weekend athletes can suffer from Achilles tendonitis, but it is also a common overuse injury in people not involved in sport. How does Achilles Tendonitis occur? Overuse injury this occurs when the Achilles tendon is stressed until it develops small tears. People who play sports that involve running, jumping and change of direction are most at risk Foot Problems some people with flat feet or hyperpronated feet (feet that turn inward while walking) are prone to Achilles tendonitis. The flattened arch pulls on calf muscles and keeps the Achilles tendon under tight strain. This constant mechanical stress on the heel and tendon can cause inflammation, pain and swelling of the tendon. Being overweight can make the problem worse Footwear wearing shoes with minimal support while walking or running can increase the risk, as can wearing high heels Overweight and obesity being overweight places more strain on many parts of the body, including the Achilles tendon Treatment for Achilles tendonitis Avoiding or severely limiting activities that may aggravate the condition, such as running, jumping Using shoe inserts (orthotics) to take pressure off the tendon as it heals. In cases of flat or hyperpronated feet, your podiatrist may recommend long-term use of orthotics Placing the foot in a cast or restrictive ankle-boot to minimise movement and give the tendon time to heal. Stretching and strengthening of the calf and tendon itself helps reduce symptoms of pain. But also reduces the risk of re-injury when getting back to sport. See more

20.01.2022 DO YOU GET JAW PAIN? DO YOU GET CLICKING, POPPING, CATCHING OF THE JAW? DOES YOUR JAW EVER BECOME LOCKED? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE SEE AND TREAT REGULARLY AT BELLARINE CHIROPRACTIC AND PODIATRY. CALL 52552200, 0439559173 or book online https://www.bellarinechiropractic.com.au/... The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint that connects your jaw to your skull. There is one on each side of your face, in front of each ear. These joints allow the movements needed for speaking, eating and facial expression. Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) can cause pain, abnormal jaw movements and joint noises. They are quite common. Some symptoms of TMD are discomfort or pain in the jaw, especially when eating an aching pain in front of your ear, which may spread to your face ‘locking’ of the jaw, making it difficult to open or close your mouth a clicking or grating noise when you open your mouth or chew an uncomfortable or uneven bite headaches, ear aches, dizziness How we treat TMD Chiropractic care can be effective in reducing the pain that is associated with TMJ disorders. With this disorder, it is essential release the tensed muscles of the jaw. We will evaluate the TMJ, surrounding muscles, and the biomechanics of mouth opening and closing. We will also evaluate the upper neck because studies have shown it is more common to have both TMJ and upper neck problems combined than to have just TMJ problems. We use muscle stretching and precise trigger point therapy to relax any muscles that are too tight, and will perform gentle mobilization to the TMJ or neck to restore proper motion to the joints. You will also be given exercises to retrain the muscles and promote proper opening and closing of the TMJ. If further dental work is needed, we are more than happy to refer to one of our specialists in our referral network. See more

14.01.2022 YES, WE DO DRY NEEDLING!! STRUGGLING WITH CHRONIC ELBOW, SHOULDER, LOW BACK PAIN? DRY NEEDLING MAY BE WHAT YOU NEED CALL BELLARINE CHIROPRACTIC AND PODIATRY TO FURTHER DISCUSS OR BOOK ONLINE https://www.bellarinechiropractic.com.au/... What is Dry Needling? Dry Needling is a process which involves the insertion of super thin (0.25mm) acupuncture needles into muscles in order to alleviate pain and stimulate healing. Generally this technique is used in the treatment of injuries and their associated pain. The filiform needle is inserted directly into the myofacial trigger point which acts to increase circulation and thus speed up the repair of the surrounding tissue. What is a trigger point? A trigger point is an area of muscle which has been over exerted, this area is commonly referred to as a knot. Patients will find that the pain is localised around this area. Dry Needling acts to release this knot. The needle insertion will have some what of an anaesthetic effect on the trigger point and is therefore a useful method of pain relief. What are the benefits of Dry Needling? Dry needling has a number of benefits which include: Pain relief Increased circulation of blood Promotion of healing Increased range of motion Increased strength and functionality of the muscle Return of proper biomechanics Does Dry Needling hurt? Generally Dry Needling is pain free. The needles used are extremely thin and when inserted properly should barely be felt. Patients may report a slight twitch response upon insertion which can cause a moment of tingling, or a reproduction of the pain they are experiencing in that muscle. Some common conditions we use dry needling for include: Tennis and golfers elbow Hip bursitis and gluteal pain Lower back pain Shin splints or plantar fasciitis Calf strains Trapezius pain Neck pain or tension headaches

14.01.2022 ARE YOU EXPERIENCING SCIATIC PAIN? PAIN, PINS AND NEEDLES GOING DOWN YOUR LEG? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE SEE AND TREAT REGULARLY AT BELLARINE CHIROPRACTIC AND PODIATRY. CALL 52552200, 0439559173 or book online https://www.bellarinechiropractic.com.au/ What is Sciatica?... Sciatica is nerve pain arising from the sciatic nerve. It can be produced by pressure on the nerve, where it passes through the buttock. Sciatica can be brought on by sitting on a hard seat. When your leg goes to sleep, that is also a form of sciatica. How does Sciatica occur? The sciatic nerve is a large nerve, formed from nerve roots that originate from the spinal cord. These nerve roots pass out between the disc spaces and join up to form the sciatic nerve. In sciatica, prolapsed or 'slipped' discs tend to bulge and press on the intervertebral nerve(s). This pressure irritates the nerve, causing referred pain. It isn’t always a disc that causes sciatica, osteoarthritis can cause narrowing of the tunnel which pushes on the nerves too. It is also common that tight muscles can trap the nerve in the buttock. Some common symptoms of Sciatica hot pain in the buttock aching in the lower back, buttock, back of the thigh (hamstring) and calf pain in the ankle and foot pins and needles increased pain when lifting, straining or coughing loss of power to the muscles of the leg and foot. Everyone can develop sciatica but some people are more likely to develop if they do repeated lifting activities or have done in the past. See more
