11.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET On Wednesday 25 April 2018, Australia will commemorate 103 years since the ANZAC landings on the shores of Gallipoli. To mark this significant event, the Drysdale RSL Sub Branch will conduct an Anzac Day Commemorative Ceremony Service. This is a wonderful opportunity to remember those who gave so... much for our country. The Drysdale RSL ANZAC Day Service will commence with a Commemorative Ceremony at 10am in the Drysdale Primary School Assembly Hall located in Collins Street. The second part of the ANZAC Day Service Ceremony will be the veterans march and wreath laying service, which will be held at the Cenotaph in High Street (adjacent to the CFA Station), commencing at about 10.45am. Representatives from various community groups and organisations have been invited to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph service. Members of the public are welcome to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph at the conclusion of the formal wreath laying ceremony. The Uncle Bobs Club will conduct at reasonable prices a sausage sizzle after the service behind the RSL building. The RSL Drysdale Ladies Auxiliary will provide light refreshments at the RSL rooms after the service. See more

01.01.2022 Batsman Robert Malcolm played his 500th game for Drysdale in the round before Christmas. The right-hand opener is still clocking up the runs in C Grade for his beloved Hawks and he strolled out for the milestone against St Leonards at St Thomas Catholic School oval. Affectionately knows as Vet, which is short for Veteran, Malcolm made 27 in his innings against the Saints and strode out to open the innings with his son Jason, who normally opens for the A Grade side, but wi...th the Hawks having the bye, it was too good an opportunity to miss out on to experience his fathers milestone at close range. The St Leonards team formed a guard of honour for Malcolm as he stepped onto the field. Only two other players - Newcombs John Dunn and Ocean Groves Les Menzies, have played 500 games in the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association. Malcolm, 55, is still hitting the ball well and has made nearly 15,000 runs in his career, more than any other BPCA cricketer in history. He is A Grades all-time leading run scorer with 9140 runs, and is also a life member of the BPCA and Drysdale. Most bowlers know that you just dont bowl short to Malcolm. Malcolm was also a very handy wrist spin bowler, but back problems have forced him to call time on that part of his game. Instead you will find him behind the stumps with the wicket-keeping gloves on. Malcolms career began in 1969 and its a real possibility that in two years time it will continue into a 50th year. He has three sons playing at Drysdale - Jason, Luke and Aaron. See more
