03.01.2022 BBAMZ gears up to drive industry and jobs in Northern Tasmania The Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) is set to enter an exciting new phase as a stand-alone company. After three years of working under the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Tasmania banner, BBAMZ has now registered as a not-for-profit company in its own right. BBAMZ is an industry-based economic development group working collaboratively with government and community to support growth, investment a...nd business diversification in the Bell Bay and Tamar Valley regions. This represents a very positive outlook for BBAMZ and the region in general, said BBAMZ Chair, Mr Leigh Darcy. What started as an experiment three years ago to bring the private sector, state and local government together to grow and diversify the Bell Bay area has been so successful that it is now time for us to create our own entity. The partnership and support we have received from RDA Tasmania has been fantastic and we will continue those relationships as we move forward. I am pleased to announce that Susie Bower has been appointed CEO. Susie is very well credentialed with demonstrated expertise in operations and project management, strategy development, planning and stakeholder engagement. Susie will be a huge asset for BBAMZ as we drive growth, commercial outcomes and employment opportunities, said Mr Darcy. BBAMZ is the catalyst for accelerated manufacturing and industrial growth in Northern Tasmania, said Ms Bower. I am excited to see the growth in BBAMZ and the commitment from businesses and government over the past three years and the faith they have demonstrated in me to take this organisation to the next level. Business confidence is extremely high in Bell Bay and we have been inundated with proponents for hydrogen, in addition to other projects, which will create new industry and supply chains and importantly, many new jobs. The future is very bright and it is important that we capitalise on our natural strengths in Tasmania to not only recover from COVID but drive growth, said Ms Bower. Ms Bower holds a Masters in Management, a Graduate Certificate in Business (Sport Management) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course and is a graduate of the Tasmanian Leaders Program. See more
