24.01.2022 The UHDCA Wombats travelled to Cessnock for the first game of the John Bull Colts competition. On winning the toss we choose to bowl first, which surprised the opposition. The opening bowlers of Jeremy Smith and Mac Dawson started well with Smith picking up an early wicket and creating a tough chance bisecting second and third slip. The batters soon gained the ascendency with boundaries being scored consistently which brought about the first change in bowling. Tim Carter came...Continue reading

The bowlers did there job with Carter (1/25) Crackett (1/19) Evans (2/6) Newton (2/18) and Collison (1/7) and Moore Harris Kelaher In the field and Duffin and Wilson behind the stumps to restrict Tatts t...o 8/102. 15.01.2022 Tatts CC vs Belmore Bulls Cricket Club - Kelaher Cup Tomorrow Night!

14.01.2022 Round 10 saw us take the trip up the New England to take on Murrurundi. We lost the toss and they choose to bat first on a dubious looking pitch. Tim Carter opened up and was firing down rockets, unlucky not to take wickets. Sony Bhullar started at the other end with more hoop then a boomerang. The first wicket fell with Thomas Wilson taking a catch down leg side off Bhullar, with the batsman show great sportsmanship walking off. A bowling change saw Gavin Thomas Newton repla...ce Bhullar and after some poor balls picked up the second with the ball slapping into Bhullars hands at mid-on. Mick Soper replaced Carter at the other and again was tight forming a great partnership with Newton. Wilson came into play again with another catch down leg side for the third wicket. The fourth wicket fell just before drinks with Newton clean bowling one to see Murrurundi 4/63. After drinks Soper and Newton bowled well in combination, with Newton reaping the rewards pickling up another two wickets thanks to Bhullar and Soper taking the catches. Soper cleaned bowled the next and completed his overs with Ben Crackett and Nick Crackett taking up bowling from either end. Nick bowled one on a no ball but then he and Ben bowled one each and Davidson took a catch at slip to finish the innings. A great bling and fielding effort to see Murrurundi all out for 89. Ricky Lawrence and Ben opened up the innings with the bat. Ricky unfortunately falling first ball of the innings trying to cut it. Tom came to the crease at three and looked to be inform before trying to hit one out of the post code and getting bowled. Michael Davidson strolled to the wicket and was on fire from the get go. Ben was judged out LBW, and rightly so, which saw Gurman Singh take guard. Davidson and Singh took to the bowlers with Singh getting off the mark with a 6 again. Their partnership set up the match for us with Davidson making 43 and Singh 30. Davidson fell with only a few runs to win hitting out to deep mid-wicket. Mick Soper came out and finished the innings with Singh at the other end. A very dominant performance from the team wining with 25 overs to spare and 6 wickets in hand. Bowling G Newton 5/27 B Crackett 2/12 M Soper 1/13 N Crackett 1/9 S Bhullar 1/16 T Carter 0/4 Batting M Davison 43 G Singh 30* M Soper 8*

13.01.2022 We took on the Warriors on McNabb which started well with us winning the toss and choosing to bat first. A change at the top of the order saw Ricky Lawrence and Ben Crackett open the batting which didnt work out with Ricky falling on the first ball of the day. That brought Thomas Wilson to the crease and started to build a good partnership with consistent ground shots and some exquisite power hits with a nice 6 from Wilson which was in his zone . A change in bowling saw so...me reward with Wilson whipping one off his pads straight to square leg. Michael Davidson strolled to wicket which formed the base of the match winning combination with Crackett. Ben and Mick played shots all round the ground at times using pure aggression towards the bowlers. This saw us in a commanding position position at 2/96 at drinks. Ben went on to make his maiden senior 50 and then carried on to double scoring his first 100. The partnership went on to make 176 before Ben chopping onto stumps trying to increase the run rate for 106. Cal Murray came to the crease and was instructed to just hit out and got away some glorious drives. Mick was the next to fall skying one to mid-on. Campbell Jeffries came and went trying to score quickly in the last few overs lifting one to the covers. Sony Bhullar came in and tried to score quickly with the few balls remaining and Cal fell just before the last over getting bowled by one skidding on. Sajib Saki slogged away in the last over scoring five pretty quick. We finished 6/253 after the 40 overs. Tim Carter and Sony opened the bowling with Sony picking up the 2 wickets in the first couple of overs. An early bowling change saw Mick striking in his first over picking up 2 with his first and last balls respectively with Anthony Hill taking a spectacular reflection catch at first slip. Another change saw Gavin Thomas Newton come into the attack and saw chances come thick and fast but we unable to take them. A final change saw Ben come into the attack and saw the 5th wicket fall just before drinks. This left Warriors still in the fight at 5/95 at drinks. After drinks Tim came back into the attack and with some aggressive short balls saw him pick up the next two wickets with another great catch at first slip by Anthony and one to Tom at keeper. Sony started again and picked up the crucial wicket of Josh Noble with a sliding catch from Newton at mid off. Campbell came on for a quick spell and pick up a wicket with Sony taking a regulation catch at mid on. The final wicket was taken by Newton with a dubious LBW given to wrap up the innings for 172. B Crackett 106 M Davidson 72 T Wilson 26 S Bhullar 3/34 M Davidson 2/22 T Carter 2/44 A massive congratulations to Ben Crackett in scoring his first 50 and first 100 in the same game.

10.01.2022 The Bulls started there season off against the might Rouchel. Rouchel won the toss and choose to bat first on a hard looking green grassy pitch. The bowlers toiled hard with the assistance of the field to see Rouchel bowled out for 100. The best of the bowlers where:... Mick Soper 0/11 (6) unlucky not to get one Nick Crackett 1/18 (5) Sony Bhullar 2/13 (4) Ben Crackett 3/22 (6) Gavin Newton 4/16 (5) The batting was unfortunately not quite as storing with a number of players getting starts. But a great effort and something to build on for next week. We also had some great support as well with Cal Murray, Adam Russell and Simon Parkinson coming down.

07.01.2022 Round 3 vs Murrurundi Despite the wet weather we managed to get a game in on Fleming Oval, the game on there from a number of years. Murrurundi made the long road trip down with Bulls winning the toss and sending them into bat. Once again the opening duo of Sony Bhullar and Tim Carter started well with Sony picking up the first two wickets. A bowling change brought about another two wickets falling to Gavin Thomas Newton to see them 4/68 at drinks. Some great fielding from Ca...mpbell Jeffries, Cal Murray and unlike assisted the bowlers to restrict the runs but a masterclass of batting was on show with Ben Crowe scoring with ease. Ben Crackett picked up a late wicket bowling in combination with the ever tight Nick Crackett. A couple of late run-outs from some great fielding by AJ Russell and a great catch to from Tim to finally see Ben Crowe fall on 141 just before the innings closed to see Murrurundi post an impressive 187. A change in the batting order saw Ricky Lawrence open up with Sony and saw the runs start to flow quickly. Ricky falling to a spectacular catch and Sony skying a short ball to see us at 2/32. This brought the batting partnership of Michael Davidson and Thomas Wilson to the fore. This saw powerful and elegant shots played to see us home with Tom scoring 57* and Mick 88*.

07.01.2022 On a damp and cold Saturday Bulls hosted Belltrees on the unfamiliar Logan Oval. Winning the toss, Jake Duffin got us off to an absolute flier taking 19 of the first over. That set the tone for the day and together with Gavin Thomas Newton, they provided a solid start. Newton gave a number of chances, and to his delight, none were taken. Duffin brought up his 50 just before drinks. With a few ball to go till drinks Newtons luck ran out gifting a catch to mid wicket. At drink...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Bulls took on Muswellbrook blue. Searching for the first complete performance and first victory of the season. Winning the toss for third consecutive finally paid off. Jake Duffin and Ricky Lawrence nearly saw the openers off before Ricky fell losing the top of his offf stump to a peach that cut a mile. The next pair combined well before Tom nicked off to first slip just before drinks. At drinks Bulls 2/87. A good knock from Duffin (35) falling just after drinks. Wil King (3...6) putting on a good partnership with Nick Crackett guided the Bulls into the box seat. A huge congratulations to Nick on scoring his maiden 50 in senior cricket and for the Bulls. After the great start and then losing Wil, Joel Bates played positive shots increasing the run rate with great success forming another good partnership with Nick. With the loss of Bates Ben Crackett came to the crease and with only few overs left was given a licence, with the rest of the lower order, having a dig and playing their shots with plenty of wickets in hand. Sheldon Harris finishing off the innings with cow corner slog for a four. Bringing the impressive Total of 8-215. Once again with youth and experience in the field and finally putting runs on the board the lads were confident with their tails up. Nick Crackett and Mac Dawson opening the bowling well once again. First change Timmy Carter picking up the crucial wicket of promising talent from Muswellbrook blue. Gavin Thomas Newton and Ben Crackett got into their groves and worked well together.
