15.01.2022 Interesting post I found about honey & babies: Has anyone else been feeding their children raw honey since they were a baby? What has been your experience? Raw honey from our own hive is the first food I introduced to my daughter and here is why. Honey as a TEETHING remedy... When visiting my daughters father's side of the family in Morocco, I was suprised to discover that a common remedy in the Arabic culture for teething is HONEY. Olives grandma told me to take a small amount of raw honey on the finger and rub it on the gums for RELIEF when the teeth are coming through. There is much irony in our current view that honey is unsuitable for infants, given that for most of human history, honey was seen as the most suitable food for newborns, after milk. As it says in Isaiah 7, "Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good." So I did a little research and have discovered that In countless cultures, from ancient Egypt to modern Burma, babies have been given a little taste of this "molten gold" after they are born, not just for energy but to offer spiritual protection. The more I look into it the more I think that in our current view in the Western world that honey is unsuitable for infants.. is ludicrous. During the US Depression, honey was used by public health officials to bring undernourished infants in New Jersey back from the grave - half a teaspoon at first, then a little more and a little more, until their emaciated bodies recovered strength. It was only in 1978 that honey became a forbidden food for infants. It came about after a few rare cases of botulism in California. They did a lot of testing and found the spores in a lot of things... from soil to honey... but you can not put a warming label on the earth beneth our feet.. so all of a sudden honey become unsafe for babies. The real honor of friendship is being invited into someone's REAL. It's getting an invitation into the nitty gritty, the not-so-pretty, the hard stuff, the vulnerable stuff, the weird stuff, the unpolished stuff. It's being welcomed into a home where the sink is full of dishes and the laundry is covering the couch. It's entering the places of heart ache and pain. It's being invited to the hospital room when your friend is still in her mesh underwear from birth. It's sitting crosslegged in old sweats on the floor and laughing till you cry. It's carrying around secrets that you've been trusted to keep. It's listening and hearing. It's holding space for each other. It's answering phone calls just to talk something through. The highest honor of friendship isn't found in beautifully planned events or brightly filtered photos. The highest honor of friendship is messy and dingy and real. It's in unfiltered photos of laughing so hard your double chin is showing. It's loving each other's babies and holding each other while you ugly cry. 08.01.2022 INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS (I do this all the time) The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that h...e wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material. I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh and that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free. That nice fragrance too. You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box...well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very longtime (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new every day! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share! Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it, the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! 02.01.2022 Fresh batch of cloud dough It’s like play dough, but softer! Smells amazing and it feels like soft clouds in your hands... Recipe; 750g of cornflour 500ml cheap scented hair conditioner Mix together well in a bowl You may need to adjust slightly. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour. If it’s too crumbly, add a little more conditioner. Both the cornflour and the conditioner were $1.50 each from my local IGA Mix together! That's it I used Raspberry/Lime and Coconut/Apple *yes you can add essential oils **yes you can add additional colour ***use with play dough stampers, cutters, and rolling pins ****store in an airtight container *****This batch lasted about 3 weeks. Children washed their hands before playing with it to keep it as clean as possible How long it lasts depends on how long it is out for, how often it is played with and hygiene! We are doing some painting tomorrow so this if for while they wait for their turn Seriously make this, it's amazing

02.01.2022 No one saw you, at 2am, when the baby wailed for you No one saw you, when a snoring exhausted man lay next to you, who had to get up for work, so the night shif...t was yours. No one saw you when the baby didn’t want to be put down. Falling asleep while drinking, and using you as a dummy. I know you feel invisible when you’ve changed another poo, made another bottle, had another nipple bitten, made another snack. No one sees your exhaustion. But you’re not. You’re not invisible. Every time you help those little legs get into pants, wipe a butt, cut a sandwich. Every time you hold those little fingers, caress that little face. They see you. Those little eyes, they see you. They watch you. You are growing a love that is the most powerful force on earth. One that can never be broken. And they’re watching you. Remember that.
