25.01.2022 Australian Simulated Field - the road back from COVID-19 Due to restrictions on public gatherings, sporting and recreational activities Field & Game Australia b...ranches voluntarily ceased operations in Late February in the interests of supporting the public health effort to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Recent decisions relaxing restrictions provide a pathway back to normal operations in a staged approach. This document outlines the current requirements for Field & Game Australia branches and individual members participating in Australian Simulated Field activities. The aim is for all branches and members to have accurate information so they can recommence activity while continuing to protect the health of members and the broader community.

23.01.2022 Constitution Update The commitment was made to members at the 2019 AGM that FGA would revisit the current Constitution. As our Constitution is registered in Vic...toria, we have been working with the Victorian Government and VicSport to ensure that we get the best outcome. The Victorian Government has provided funding for the Constitution to be reviewed and updated. FGA has appointed prominent law firm Landers & Rogers, who are experts in the sport and recreation sector, to undertake the work. FGA has received the first draft which has been reviewed by the National Office staff and the FGA Board. A second draft is being worked on by our legal team, we will be providing this draft to branches as part of the AGM information pack. The FGA AGM will be held on Saturday 17th October 2020 and the Constitution will be an agenda item for discussion. This is an important step for FGA and we are not going to rush the process, we are committed to consulting and engaging with branches to ensure we get the right outcome, so we are not looking to pass any motions at the 2020 AGM regarding the Constitution. Following the AGM we will then undertake a further consultation process (yet to be developed) with branches and members with a view to taking the final draft to the AGM in 2021. This review has been 10 years in the making so we are really excited that we can finally deliver on this commitment.

21.01.2022 Who doesn’t love smashing clays! Bendigo Field and Game Inc. organised training yesterday following all Covid regulations with three sessions of 20 people and set up two grounds. FGA hopes that all members in the locked down states don’t have to wait too long to get back out there.

20.01.2022 Update on our practice shoot Saturday 26th September pre-nominatons nearly full only some single spots left, I'll take a few waiting in case we have a withdraw, we had to cap numbers to allow for distancing Covid-19 rules and finishing times. Thanks

19.01.2022 Heres some images of recent works undertaken at Tang Tang Swamp by Dja Dja Wurrung staff, Parks Victoria, North Central Catchment Authority, Game Management A...uthority and Field & Game Australia. Funding through the SHAP has been used to complete this works including improving access through new steel gates replacing old wire panel gates. Car parking with bollards and gravel base with access adjacent to sealed road. Also a trial levy bank to verify the impact when water levels rise, if the desired impact is realised it will be replicated in a more permanent state. Further works in the near future will be a pump on the Tandarra pondage with a pipe line to the wetland to allow for the delivery of environmental water. Its fantastic to see such investment in the future of our wetlands and we look forward to continuing working together on future programs and development of other trial sites and planned works. #australiasmostsurprisingconservationists

17.01.2022 FGA was appalled to receive this email on Friday in which Victoria Police make the threat that as Victorians and firearm licence holders if we blatantly and de...liberately breach the restrictions in place by the Chief Health Officer then your licence can be suspended, cancelled or may be subject to a reprimand which could harm any future licensing. This positive discrimination is unacceptable. We saw earlier this year the over reach by Victoria Police with firearms retailers. This is again another over reach discriminating again against firearms licence holders. Over the weekend FGA has written to the Minister for Police, the Executive Director LRD and also made a complaint to the Victorian Discrimination Commissioner about this outrageous over reach and positive discrimination by Victoria Police. If you feel discriminated then please make a complaint to the Discrimination Commissioner at https://makeacomplaint.humanrights.vic.gov.au/ FGA has been very clear that we must respect and comply with restrictions in place to protect us and battle the spread of COVID19. To imply that Blatant and deliberate disregard of the CHOs directions endangers public safety and calls into question a licence holders suitability to be licenced in an area that requires a strong emphasis on safety is disgraceful and again tries to paint licensed firearms holders in a poor light. This behaviour must be called out. FGA will be taking this issue up on behalf of members.

16.01.2022 Update: firearm and ammunition restrictions from Victoria Police. On Monday May 11 2020, the Victorian Government provided an update regarding the current COVID...-19 restrictions and have allowed some outdoor recreational activities to take place whilst maintaining social distancing. The Licensing and Regulation Division are able to announce that, the temporary ban on the selling, loaning and hiring of firearms and ammunition for the reasons of Sport or Target Shooting, Clay Target Shooting and Recreational hunting will be lifted as of Tuesday 12 May, 2020 at 11:59pm. You must continue to practice social distancing and should only be undertaking these activities if you really need to. It is integral to your health and wellbeing. The Licensing and Regulation Division aims to minimise disruption in the industry as much as possible. Given this, we would like to assure you that licence holders will not have to reapply for a Permit to Acquire (PTA) if they applied to the Licensing and Regulation Division prior to 31 March 2020. Additionally, we will be prioritising these applications prior to any new applications that are sent to the Licensing and Regulation Division. These applications will be assessed and processed in an orderly fashion. Where a pre-payment for the PTA fee was made, applicants will not face further costs from the Licensing and Regulation Division.

12.01.2022 Lets see if we can help another club. Put the word out.

11.01.2022 Regional Victoria will be moving to the Third Step! What does this mean for Field & Game Australia Branches and members? This means a huge step in opening up Re...gional Victoria from the current lockdown. There will no longer be restrictions on reasons to leave home or distance you can travel. Can I go hunting? Yes you will be able to continue to go hunting and fishing. There will be maximum group sizes of 10. This will mean members and branches will be able to resume activities like fox drives, nest box programs and waterfowl counts. Can I go camping? Yes you will be able to go camping, again there will be restrictions on group sizes. Will Field & Game Aust. branches be open this weekend? At this stage it is unclear what FGA branches will and will not be able to do. While the current roadmap allows for outdoor non-contact sport to resume, they are subject to gathering and density limits. We are waiting for the sport and recreation roadmap to be released tomorrow with details on what these restrictions will be. Will we be able to resume Australian Simulated Field Competition? Again, at this stage we are unsure what the gathering and density limits will be, but we are extremely hopeful that Australian Simulated Field Competition will be able to resume.

06.01.2022 Shooting sports can restart in regional Victoria! The easing of restrictions in regional Victoria allow for the conduct of non-contact community sport for all a...ges. Non-contact sport is any sport where you can maintain 1.5 metres between yourself and others while playing. This will apply within squads. You can play sport with the number of people required to play plus necessary coaches and umpires. Spectators are not allowed. Outdoor sport can resume for people who are 18 years of age and younger, this includes contact and non-contact sport. For team sports you can play sport with the number of people required to play plus necessary coaches and umpires. Spectators are allowed if they are supervising children or supporting players with additional needs, while maintain gathering limits of less than 10 people. Toilets and communal changerooms are open canteens, kiosks or at-venue dining facilities can open subject to the industry restart guidelines for hospitality (https://www.business.vic.gov.au//Industry-Restart-Guidelin) A cap of 10 people in any cohort (squad, social gatherings, clubrooms, car park) participating in an individual outdoor community sport (e.g. athletics, cycling, walking, bushwalking, trail walking) It is recommended branches return to the pre-lockdown arrangements for pre-nomination and payment through MCMS. This will include allocated start times to ensure squads maintain separation. Squads should complete their competition rounds and depart the shoot ground. No presentations post event. Face masks must be worn at all times except when you are in the stand and shooting. It is important to note that residents of greater Melbourne can not yet travel to regional Victoria for sporting activities. Melbourne is on track for an easing of restrictions in late September but shooting activities within the metro zone are still some way off. Field & Game Australia would like to thank Sport & Recreation Victoria for their timely assistance in helping to establish the rules of play for shooting in regional areas.

02.01.2022 Today Renmark-Berri Field & Game has advised us that the Committee has decided to withdraw from hosting the 2020 Field & Game Australia National Carnival. The d...ecision is obviously a difficult one to make, but the Committee felt that the uncertainly due to COVID-19 restrictions in South Australia could adversely impact participation and the ability to run an event of this scale. While the decision will impact many members who have already booked accommodation, it does leave us sufficient time to make alternative arrangements to host an event at a location that will allow as many competitors as possible to participate even if there are still some COVID-19 restrictions in place. Field & Game Australia would like to thank Renmark-Berri for their work to date, and for making the call early enough so that we have time to reset. Field & Game Australia is already working on a new venue and we will advise as soon as it is confirmed.

02.01.2022 Field & Game Australia has today made its submission to the Game Management Authority with regards to the Victorian Duck Hunting Season 2021. FGA can find no ev...idence that could argue that the legislated season as prescribed in law should be changed. FGA also recommended that the changing to opening times that was introduced as a pilot for 2 years in 2018, has not currently demonstrated any benefits and, therefore the opening times as prescribed within the law need to be in place for the 2021 season. DJPR who were at the meeting had no response when asked to provide a report or evidence of benefits. The GMA when pressed admitted they had provided information to DJPR some 18 months ago. We are now in January 2021 and still no report. FGA challenged DJPR who have committed to follow up the outcomes. FGA has also prepared a supplementary report which we intend to send direct to Ministers and Departments which further evidences our position, which is based on the facts and data and is defendable not based on emotion or subjective views. Also at the meeting to present to the GMA were RSPCA who's policy position is to oppose duck hunting period. Animals Australia who's position was to ban a season in 2021, Birdlife Australia who's view was that breeding stock would be significantly impacted and SSAA who also supported a full season. As the only duck hunting organisation with a seat at the table, we prosecuted our case directly to the GMA. Further more we will be also be speaking directly to Ministers and prosecuting our case on behalf of you our members. We take great pride and responsibility to represent members to ensure sustainable duck hunting in Victoria continues for generations. The full submission will be available on our website later today.

02.01.2022 UPDATE: The South Australian government misprinted the bag limit in their first report. The bag limit for the upcoming duck season in South Australia is four an...d not six. Field & Game Australia thanks the South Australia government for their announcement regarding the state's 2021 Duck Season and is pleased that South Australian hunters can begin preparing for a March start. More details to come but we have confirmed hunting is one of the activities enabled by this easing of COVID-19 restrictions. No travel limit but no overnight stays or camping. Some National Parks will reopen. UPDATE; 12:44pm We expect the restriction on the sale of firearms and ammunition will be lifted at the same time as the restriction on hunting. Through our advocacy we were aware this was the approach being considered in Victoria. Heart Morass will be open for hunting. We will provide more details later today. We are compiling information for Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and NSW in relation to hunting and clay target. We will issue full advice later today.

01.01.2022 Update From Dean OHara Hi Members. Following the announcement today (Sunday 12th April 2020) by the Victorian Government to extend the current Stage 3 restrict...ions until May 11th, I have spoken with the Minister for Agricultures office today. FGA has been advised that at this stage there is no intention to further modify the game seasons in Victoria. However with the current restrictions on travel and hunting, this announcement will no doubt have an impact to the game seasons. With the quail season already impacted and the duck season scheduled to start on May 2rd. FGA today has told the Ministers office that the expectations of FGA Members will be that the Victorian government needs to extend the game seasons to account for any time lost by these restrictions and that anything other than that would be unacceptable. In fact now is the time to extend the season and bag limits rather than reduce it further. FGA again reiterated that it did not agree with the current seasons modification and that any further loss to the game seasons would not be tolerated its members. FGA members have been respectful of the restrictions but where as you can run or go surfing 365 days of the year, waterfowl hunters have only the season to hunt.
