16.01.2022 This will be interesting and a former Bendigonian

14.01.2022 Like a good Christmas pudding, our Breakup Bash was a mix of quality ingredients, blended nicely, and it turned out just fine. Here, for your tasty pleasure, is the recording

13.01.2022 Pleased to share this: Vin Maskell's Stereo Stories reached a milestone this year, a testament to the passion and commitment of him and others who love writing and music. We' hope that we might see and hear more of Stereo Stories down the track. Meanwhile, here's Vin's description of what it is, how it works, and the extraordinary achievement of 500 stories telling about "a song, a place, a time" Vin Maskell https://www.bendigowritersfestival.com.au/day-by-day

11.01.2022 So many wonderful moments in this conversation between Dennis Glover, author of the new satirical novel Factory 19, and Steve Kendall, who fortuitously knows a few things about spitfires. And do you know what year George Orwell originally chose for his 1984? (Which was published in 1948, the year that dominates the nostalgic yearning of the people in Factory 19) That's Backstory next Wednesday from 6pm and it's a ripper

11.01.2022 Found myself saying to Derek Guille for a most unusual Bendigo Venues and Events virtual program launch that - "can't say too much" - but we've NAILED the Festival slogan for 2021. Then comes the doubts and the worries and the hesitations and the hopes and fears of all the years... It will be FINE, and if it's not perfect, well, it will be what it is. See what 2020 has done?! For all those slowly realising that the holidays are here, may you find peace and contentment and so...me very good books. For those still beavering away, we applaud you and thank you. There is a program taking shape for May 7-9 which we're very much looking forward to presenting to you not too far down the track. Meanwhile, our very best wishes for a safe and joyous Christmas. 06.01.2022 Backstory with Barry Jonsberg and Cecile Shanahan

04.01.2022 Awards to the right of us, awards to the left of us, into the valley of awards we go... Christie Nieman, one of our Breakup Bash writers who spoke so wonderfully well about her novel Where We Begin, is on the Vic Premier's shortlist. Hope we might be able to see Christie in person in May for the Festival. On the non-fiction list, you'll find Louise MIlligan's Witness; compelling reading, and you can hear Louise on our Backstory interview, available here and on the BWF websit...e. Hearty congratulations too to Lynne Kelly, who, with Margo Neale, is shortlisted for Songlines. You'll remember Castlemaine-based Lynne from her books on memory. The shortlists for this one couldn't quite contain all the good stuff so they added in a recommended list which is ALSO full of terrific books. https://www.wheelercentre.com//victorian-premier-s-literar See more

03.01.2022 Our final four - Backstories!! We are zooming towards the holidays now, and who better to take us into the season than the marvelous Paul Bangay, garden designer extraordinaire. We are delighted he'll be our Backstory next Wednesday, talking about "Stonefields by the Season", a tribute to his hard work and inspired planning at the magnificent home and garden midway between Kyneton and Daylesford. This one for green and growing enthusiasts to really sink the spade into and smell that rich and lovely soil (apparently, the smell of soil is good for you!) Dymocks Bendigo Penguin Books Australia
