22.01.2022 On 1 July 2019, the Australian Government introduced new laws that aim to reduce the use of restraint in residential aged care. The new laws are called the ‘Restraints Principles’. A review of the Restraints Principles is now underway, and is being conducted by Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA) on behalf of the Department of Health. The AHA is seeking views of residents, carers and their families on the use of physical and chemical restraint in residential aged care. Th...e interview does not ask for information that could identify the participant or the facility. Even if you’re not aware of the Restraints Principles, AHA would still like to hear your views on the use of restraint in residential aged care. Follow the link if you would like to participate.

21.01.2022 Giving back in tough times Our resident Marjorie confesses she can't sit still and not do something to help others during this time. So she has set her days to making Trauma Teddy Bears for children who have suffered traumatic events and also knitted clothing for displaced children. Marjorie will be donating all her creations to the Australian Red Cross to help children in need. If anyone has yarn they aren't using and would like to donate to a good cause, please bring it in to our reception for Marjorie to continue to make these lovely items for those less fortunate.
