23.01.2022 I had the absolute pleasure of being involved a recent spoken word theatre work, How to Spell Love alongside Anisa Nandaula and Pru Wilson. It was one of the most challenging artistic experiences for me, trying to work out where I fit in in a story I have no experience relating to or could fathom in the slightest. How To Spell Love is a highly innovative spoken word theatre production which directly conveys the experience of a young migrant woman, navigating the intersecting ...avenues of identity, culture and society. A deeply moving work still in development, HTSL is already fielding international tour inquiries. This project will ensure the Metro Arts premiere in 2020 launches a stunning new production to the world. The Bunker Spoken Word gives visibility to those who often find themselves outside of everyday discourses. They are a collective platform created to support and mentor emerging and established artists to fully realise new performance work and new writing. Every dollar donated is matched by the Australia's ACF Boost Program. We've nearly reached our budget, check out the link for more information and a short video explaining the show in more depth. https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-bunker-spoken/

10.01.2022 The biggest musical meme of my life so far has to be a recent recording of ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ by Dragonforce for @valtozash ‘s second album to be released later this year. Here’s a little snippet of some rhythm section stems, God help us all. Thanks to @julianpalma116 for the wicked filming! #brisbane #experimental #bigband #jazzmetal

06.01.2022 Extremely proud to share my submission for The Freedman Fellowship Awards (Jazz, 2020). Firstly, congratulations to all of those nominated and good luck to the finalists. Everyone is absolutely ridiculous in their own right and it was quite the shock to be shortlisted among some of the most inspiring musicians/improvisors/people in the country. Thank you also to Scott Tinkler for nominating me. Scott has always encouraged my ridiculous ideas and I'm forever grateful for his... guidence, encouragement and support. The application process challenged me to pursue an idea I'd been wanting to try for a long time; the combination of large form collective/conducted improvisation situated within and around composed work. I've always been curious as to how conducting from the drum kit would take shape. The lexicon and cues that were generated throughout the rehearsal and recording process have left me extremely excited and wanting to push this idea more extensively in future projects/recordings/gigs. Hope you enjoy, I had a blast doing this. Wouldn't have been possible without the support of so many dear friends/creative collaborators!
