23.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that we will continue as normal, 7 days a week as we have over the past 22 years. All Milkbar and Smoko requirements, Australia Post ...facilities, Takeaways and anything else the Bennett Rd does will operate exactly the same. Although obviously a time for concern I dont believe a panicked response will do us any good so we will turn up, put a smile on our dial, say Gday to everyone and even probably give a bit of cheek. We will attempt to Beef Up Grocery lines this week for those who want 1 or 2 things and want to avoid the hustle and bustle. As we go along if it becomes necessary to alter the way the shop operates we will look at that and make an informed decision based on what unfolds. 21.01.2022 The Bennett Rd shop will be open for takeaways Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings with a few variances. Normally we dont do pizzas Thursday nite on...ly fish and chips. We will cook both Thursday through to Sunday this week and all takeaways will commence at 5pm not 530pm which is the usual. This is an effort to spread the orders out a bit. As far as possible we will attempt to give you realistic times to pick up so you can come in pay and go. Depending on how busy we are those times could be a bit longer than usual for your safety. Crosses will be put on the floor so if for any reason there is a wait you will be able to observe social distancing regulations. Well front up, hope to see you there. I have no idea what she is talking abo...ut) Then it will say menu in the top right hand corner. Click that. Youll work it out but I never will. Cooking times Thursday, Saturday, Sunday 5.30pm till finish. Cooking times Good Friday: Lunch 11.30am - 2pm Tea. 5pm - finish Now no matter where you go for tea Good Friday it is gunna be hectic. We are going to be as realistic as we can be with a time for you. Those times are probably gunna be longer than normal. We dont want 20 of you in the shop at once. We will cook pizzas, Hamburgers, baked spuds etc to try and take pressure off Michelle so if you are not right into the fish thing there are other options. 03.01.2022 Happy 21 years to us at the Bennett Road Milkbar. For 21 years weve worked 365 days a year. For 21 years weve provided our customers with the morning essentials from 6am onwards of bread, milk, papers and the sometimes unfortunate need of toilet paper.... For 21 years weve opened every single Christmas morning and had the joy of seeing many people come in with their families for the few forgotten items needed and excited children telling us all about their wonderful santa gifts they need batteries for. For 21 years Michelle has taken on the mammoth effort that is cooking on Good Friday. In just one little fryer, on her own, she cooks hundreds of pieces of fish for people celebrating with their families. She handles the pressure of hour long waits because she has that many orders to take on. For 21 years Peter has been creating and perfecting many different tasty food treats for our customers. From pizzas, bread, slices, pies, pasties, sausage rolls and countless other things, he can often be found wandering from out the back where he has been making food to come and chat and be distracted from his tasks at hand. Over our 21 years we have gotten to raise our children and then had the pleasure to incorporate them into our business. We have gotten to work as a family and spend real quality time with one another. We have also gotten to see our children have children, and our grandchildren enjoy the shop, serving customers and occasionally pinching lollies! Over our 21 years a great deal of shit stirring has occurred within the walls of the Bennett Road Milkbar. Whether its Peter dishing it out or copping a bit of it back, fun is always had with it. But most importantly over the past 21 years we have been able to make some truly great friendships. Thank you for all the support over these past 21 years and for the support that we will continue to receive! Its been a great 21 years.

01.01.2022 I don’t quite know where to start this post but last nite the 21/12/2020 we did the Stocktake, the sale of our business went through and 22 years, 3 months and ...9 days of hard work and great memories came to an end. We drove out of Nhill with a 6 year plan, an 8 year old Jake and 5 year old Trina full of nerves, excitement and determination to own our own business and make new friends.(Obviously the 6 year plan went to Shit). We were the perfect team, I made messes, Michelle clean them up, I talked like a butchers magpie, Michelle worked quietly in the background but we were and still are best mates. We’ve ridden a lot of highs and lows behind the scenes but I’m proud to say not one day in all that time has the Bennett Rd Shop not opened the doors. We’ve done 22 Christmas mornings and you’d be amazed what people have forgotten. I even opened the morning of Trina and Danny’s wedding, the locals couldnt miss out on the morning paper. We are exceptionally proud of our family all who have worked at the Shop. They have grown up to be fantastic caring people who have gone well beyond the call of duty on many, many occasions. The Shop has enabled us to keep our family close. I have no doubts if we had stayed in Nhill Jake and Trina would be long gone by now.(Having said that I have extremely fond memories of growing up in Nhill as Michelle does of Brim and I look forward to Mum and Dad coming out to the farm most Mondays to catch up on what everyone’s up to). We have added Danny Gloury to our family and on January 30th after 2 false starts due to the Rona restrictions Jake will finally marry Danielle Stonehouse, fingers crossed. Goes to show if ya hang around the McCartney clan ya get put to work because both Danny and Danielle have worked at the shop. (Talk about rolling ya sleeves up.) We also have the 3 best Grandkids a Nanny and Poppy could ask for Brooke 11, Sierra 8 and little Heath getting closer to 2 every day. We love them dearly and look forward to spending more time with them away from the shop and going on Holidays. If we have one wish for them it is that they are happy, always friendly and learn the art of conversation. Those things will carry you a long way in life. Michelle has her heart set on an on-site van at Narrawong so the whole family can enjoy time to unwind by the sea. Brooke and myself tried to talk her into an RV but she thinks we’ll end up broken down on the side of the road somewhere which is probably right. So we end as we started nervous, excited and determined for what comes next. Good luck to new owners Russell and Anne and thankyou to the wonderful people of Horsham. You have been great. NOW I WANT TO MAKE ONE THING CLEAR. We will continue as employees at the shop for some time to come one because Russell and Anne will take time to settle in and two it will take time to wean meself off of seeing all me mates and girlfriends.
