23.01.2022 Im working on the chassis, tailgate and rear quarters for this Aussie 110 FFR Rover.
22.01.2022 Heres a photo of my old man cave maybe 15 years ago ??
22.01.2022 BenO here, and Ive just created a group for any of my customers to put up and share photos of builds, completed or work in progress and to discuss modelling with my bits. I havent made any rules yet, but Im working on it. No.1 rule will be that Im the boss, and Ill decide if you are a cockhead or not if any shit starts up. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2672045816372717/?ref=share
19.01.2022 Just finished this 1:24 scale Fujimi FJ Cruiser build for a friend. Not my finest effort but Im still pretty happy with the result. It was a good quality kit. Bloody white cars annoy me, but anyway, after a bit of polishing I got out the marks I put on the finish while putting it all together. I did stuff up a couple of small things. I added a tow bar and its now mounted in a Trumpeter display case.
19.01.2022 Now this is an exciting future release. A injection moulded plastic LARC-V kit in 1/35th scale. It will be much easier, & lighter than the full resin Hobby Fan kit.
16.01.2022 My friend Peter D built this Aussie Mercedes Benz Unimog using my resin wheels. Hes done a great job stretching the chassis from the 1/35 scale Revell kit. And converting it to right hand drive and scratch building the tray, brush guard, rear pintle hook panel and many other small details. Looks awesome. Ill have to do one for my cabinet.
16.01.2022 I was going to scratch build some 1/35 scale besser blocks for a diorama Id like to do someday, but then I found another Aussie aftermarket company already makes some. So because Im very slack, I ordered some from Black Ops Models tonight. Got some empty pallets too. Much easier when you can just buy them.
14.01.2022 I got this 1:3 scale M252 Mortar by Trumpeter for a Christmas present, and I built it Christmas night. But didnt touch it again until Thursday just gone. Finished it enough to enter the show by 0230 Saturday morning. Was setting up for the show at 0700. I wish that they included some decals for the stenciling on the mortar round. I used the hairspray method to achieve the worn look. 1st time Ive tried it.
12.01.2022 Been a bit stagnant lately as you would all know. But anyway, Ill get this 2nd last commission build out of the way, and keep going with Phils Land Rover 110 FFR. Ive been working on parts for the 110 with casting, but not putting them up on here yet. This is a 1/24 scale Toyota FJ Cruiser. And Ill show you how I do number plates. Some or all of you probably have used or seen this method, but I thought Id share it for those who havent.
12.01.2022 In the near future Ill be releasing a pack of 1/35 scale resin cast "corner castings" for shipping containers, not that we need shipping container now, but they will be handy for making personnel pods, fuel pods, 10 ft containers, the ADF flat racks and any other ISO equipment you can think of scratch building. I think Ill be selling them in packs of 16 but not sure on the price just yet. Ill announce when they are ready for purchase on this page if anyone is interested.
12.01.2022 Yep, please quarantine me
10.01.2022 While Im not in full lock down yet here in Australia, Im in the process of moving the model room to a different room within the house. And if it does come to full quarantine, Ill be right. Like that meme I posted, Ill be not worried one bit. Ive got enough kits and glue to bunker down for some time. Theres all these and more still moving a lot of kits around, and tidying up my mess. But I cant wait to sit down and hook in after work every night.
09.01.2022 Heres the album for the first LRPV build I did. A lot of my builds are in the albums in the photos section on this page. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/
09.01.2022 Ok here they are, BenOs 12th resin product, Item No. BMB35R12 - 1/35 resin Corner Castings for all your ISO shipping container transport type needs. Good for making your own flatracks, containerised pods (fuel, field servicing, personnel. You get 16 corner castings for $15.00 AUD +postage (signature on delivery) Order via private message on this page or send email to [email protected]. Payments by bank transfer or PayPal (friends&family option).
08.01.2022 Now when I said its a snap kit, please dont think of a Revell snap kit, because this Jujimi FJ kit puts any Revell car glue kit to shame. Revell & AMT/Round 2 need to lift their moulding game. This kit has separate window surrounds, window masks and even tinted film for around the edges of the windows. Which has the stickiest glue on the planet to fix them to the windows. Theres decals & stickers for logos, instrument clusters ect. Im glueing parts as I go, even though for most you dont need to. The fit has been pretty good so far.
08.01.2022 Bit of mojo for scratch building tonight. Aussie 110 Rover FFR
07.01.2022 So heres how it sits, hoping to finish it tonight. Ill just tidy up the seats a bit more. Probably should of masked them up, as my freehand brushing skills have plenty of room for improvement
07.01.2022 Fantastic looking trophies this year too.
06.01.2022 Well, what a huge week it has been with the local model comp. Ive got plenty of photos of the comp, and of the builds I did this week too. But Im so damn knackered from working, building until late, and organising the Model Comp, it will happen through the week as I get to it & sort it all. It was a very successful show, huge swap meet and sausage sizzle on the Friday night. Met some new people and caught up with old friends too. Im sure there would have been some things ...we couldve done better or different like all model shows, but I heard very little negative feedback so far. Less than previous years, however the positive feedback was excellent. The quality of builds on the tables was incredible. Its good to have big numbers, but its even better when the entries are inspiring. So thank you to all that travelled to enter, and all those that attended, and to the friends, and general public, who come along to have a look. We raised $870 for Variety Club Queensland. A big thank you to our sponsors and to the RSMA members that helped out Shoey and I.
06.01.2022 Im still here, just not posting much and limited model building lately. Bit of action in the personal life. But I have managed to upgrade the shelves on my model desk. Im definitely no woodworker but Id go alright if I had a few more power tools. So heres a few photos of my model room.
04.01.2022 On behalf of our Rockhampton Scale Modellers Association I would like thank all who attended our 16th annual Scale Model Competition held at the Criterion Hotel... over the weekend. This being one of the biggest and best shows we have hosted in many years. Not to mention our Swap meet on the Friday night. It was also great to see so many faces from as far as Townsville, Mackay, Brisbane, Warwick, Toowoomba and Wollongong NSW. There was close to 300 entries on display to the public. Every category was full off craftsmanship second to none. We also raised $870 on the day going to the Variety Club of Queensland (childrens charity) We would also like to thank our sponsors who without them would have been impossible to have had such a successful event. We hope to see you all again next year, so lock in Saturday the 6th of February 2021 for another action packed show. Cheers Shoey See more
04.01.2022 Thank you Pter Sri
04.01.2022 Facebook tells me I was building this 4 years ago. Still havent built one for myself. Easier than building that Blackdog resin pile of shit too.
04.01.2022 Well thats all the easy bits out of the way
04.01.2022 Hopefully Ill find some modelling mojo over this Easter weekend
03.01.2022 For my next trick, something different, an Aussie Land Rover!!!!!!!!!! lol! A 110 Defender FFR as it was on ops in East Timor back in the 1990s. The pics show it here now as it is enjoying retirement. It will be going on a small environmental base. Im also working on a few others that I havent touched for a long time, like an AS1 Leopard fitted with the Johnny Cab driver trainer.
03.01.2022 Looks like Ive got a new reference book to order
03.01.2022 Well as you all know, this page of mine has been pretty quiet again lately. Ive got 2 commission builds to complete (with maybe a 3rd) which I will do, but after those, Im not taking on anymore new commissions until further notice. This is due to me working full time hours again, plus want to build some for myself. Which I will post up on here. Ive had a busy month with sorting out my militaria collection and selling it off. And now that its gone, I can get back to sorti...ng out the mess in my build room and get back into some time at the bench. Builds Ive got to do are a 1/24 FJ Cruiser & a 1/35 110 Defender FFR. Then for me a 1/35 Jonny Cab Leopard and a Dual cab Bushmaster Ute. Photos will follow in the next few says. BenO.
02.01.2022 I just ordered a set of each of these newly released decals of ADF ARN/Rego plates. They should be pretty helpful for future builds.
02.01.2022 I was going to do some models tonight before bed, but Rambo: First Blood part II is on TV, so Rambo wins
01.01.2022 I havent got much actual model building done lately but I did do a bit of carpentry yesterday. Making a new set of shelves for my model desk. If Ive planned it out right, Ill get most of my storage draw sets and some paint racks in, and my spray booth will have a permanent home too.
