23.01.2022 The irony that you're reading this on Facebook is not lost on me. Facebook has become a place where accurate information is put aside for posts and content that spark hate and division. That being said, it's clearly where most people get their news, for better or worse. Can we start a trend to just check the Mudgee Guardian website directly from now on?
21.01.2022 Imagine my surprise when I realised that Peter Freedman, former owner of the Regent Theatre is now the owner of this guitar. The most expensive guitar in the world.
21.01.2022 A reminder that the world will keep turning for you no matter what your favourite lolly is called, but it might make the lives of others a little better. And that's something worth embracing. <3
19.01.2022 HOW A MUDGEE GUARDIAN STORY ENDED UP ON FOX NEWS AMERICA Here's a bit of a look behind the curtain and something interesting when it comes to how news is shared. Back in January, the Mudgee Guardian reported on a case heard in Mudgee Local Court about a bloke dinged for using his phone while riding his horse....Continue reading
19.01.2022 A wonderfully touching tribute from Norm's wife and niece. Residents far and wide were in mourning after the passing of Norm Leonard. A well-known and well-loved figure in the community for many decades, Norm's impact was felt across generations. He will be missed.
18.01.2022 A lot of Mid-Western residents gets their news from Facebook posts which can mean that if it's not in their feed then they don't see it. The Mudgee Guardian publishes a lot of news that never makes on Facebook for different reasons including court matters and this is a big reason why. If you run a Facebook page, you're directly responsible for anything anyone writes in the comments. So if I posted something and while I'm asleep someone posted a defamatory comment and the person targeted gets upset and sues, then it's on us. It's a very dangerous precedent to set and sets Australia way back in this part of the law in an age of social media.
16.01.2022 The continued rise of domestic violence is this region's shame and should be highlighted as much as it can be until it starts to drop.
16.01.2022 Serial pest checking in. I'm looking to speak with anyone that had planned to get married soon or later in the year at Blue Wren Wines for a story. You can be anonymous. Flick me a DM.
14.01.2022 For all the good social media has done, it has at least in equal parts played a role in creating a culture where people are willing to believe - with no critical eye - something they read on Facebook, whether it's false, hateful or not as long as it conforms to their personal bias or beliefs.
14.01.2022 This is kind of a weird story from the Tele. There’s nothing found to have happened but they went ahead with it anyway? Also. ‘Divides the community’? LOL
10.01.2022 "This is a win for this region, this investment will see over $4.4 billion coming into Dubbo and the Central West, and create 450 new jobs in the region, in addition, new opportunities and industries will be created here."
05.01.2022 FINALLY. I know now what is going in next door to Samantha Marsh and Just Jeans on Church Street.
04.01.2022 This is kind of a weird story from the Tele. There’s nothing found to have happened but they went ahead with it anyway? Also. ‘Divides the community’? LOL
03.01.2022 A shout out to Lithgow Mercury journo Ciara Bastow whose 'From the Ashes' series continues to impress with amazing stories from those most affected by the Lithgow area bushfires. This one here is particularly amazing, the bloke interviewed told of the time he thought he'd be dying soon in a fire so he sat down and had a beer. I urge you to check them all out.
