10.01.2022 Let's talk about teeth! One of the best ways to keep your pet well and healthy is to care for their teeth. Do you know what your pet's mouth looks like? Take a good look, including right up the back of their mouth. This photo is of my dog Ash and her mouth. This is what your dog's teeth should look like. No tartar, no gingivitis, no smell.... Now the three reasons that Ash has a healthy mouth are; 1. Her age - Ash is only 2.5 years old and so her mouth has less wear and tear and areas for bacteria to take hold. (this is not under my control) 2. Her genetic design - Ash has well spaced teeth that align well, allowing natural self-cleaning of teeth as she chews (also not under my control) 3. Her diet - Ash is fed a fresh food diet that is high in meat and vegetables and low in processed carbohydrates (this one is under my control!) If you would like to learn how to best protect your pet's teeth, or would like to know if your pet needs dental treatment, book in for a consultation with one of our vets. Dental disease is a serious health problem and can dramatically impact your pet's wellbeing. More information can be found in the below link if you would like to learn more. https://www.bentonsroadvet.com.au/lets-talk-about-teeth-de/

05.01.2022 Name: Bianca Why did you become a vet nurse? I think it all began when I was little and watched the movie Dr. Doo Little. I was fascinated and wanted to be able to speak with animals like he did. I told my mum and dad I wanted to be a vet then at the age of 7, but it wasn’t until later on that I actually started my journey of being a veterinary nurse. I believe being a vet nurse is my calling and I simply wanted to help the animals.... What do you find the most rewarding part of being a vet nurse? Even after so many years in my profession, I fall in love with it more every day. I personally feel there are so many rewarding aspects, but I think the most rewarding for me is when we are able to help save the life of an animal or help to make them feel better when they have come to us feeling sick or injured. I love seeing them walk out of here happy and healthy. What have you found the hardest part of working in the veterinary profession? For me, like most in my profession find dealing with euthanasia the most difficult, however I am finding that if it is the best thing for the pet I feel privileged to be able to help and support the animal and their owners through this terrible time. I find comfort in knowing that we have done everything we can to make their passing as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Are you a Cat, Dog or Rabbit person? I love the rabbits and the guinea pigs and all the doggies but I am def without a doubt a crazy cat lady. If you could have any other profession what would it be? Hmm I feel that vet nursing is in my blood and can’t imagine myself doing anything else but If I could pick something else it would probably be a search and rescue worker / paramedic or DJrandom I know Who makes up your fur family? I have just one beautiful cat called Bacchi.

01.01.2022 Friday the 9th of October is the one day of the year when we say a huge Thank You to all of the nurses working within the veterinary profession. These tireless carers are the ones comforting your pet in the clinic, the ones cleaning up after the vets, the ones who know where that elusive medication/bandage/instrument/document is, they know how to run that expensive equipment, they can run that software or email that insurance company, and they still answer the phone with a smile! Thank you to all of our wonderful nurses. Your vets and your patients are so appreciative of your efforts. Have a wonderful day today. Happy Vet Nurse Day!!
