17.01.2022 Blast from the past. Lets rewind the clock! The great Melbourne hailstorm of Thursday, 14th November 1901.... About half-past 5 o oclock (14th November 1901) the sky clouded over, and peals of thunder and flashes of lightning served as the prelude to a heavy downpour of rain and hail. At first the hailstones were of ordinary size, but with a tremendous swirl of wind from the south and a most peculiar noise the hailstorm developed into one of such proportions that within the space of five minutes the city streets, from building line to building were white with hail, ranging in size to an inch and wore in diameter, while thousands of window panes in exposed positions were shattered.
