25.01.2022 We’ve so enjoyed our culinary travels with you these past months and wish you and all your loved ones on 2 or 4 legs a safe and healthy holiday season. Love from the BPUK Team. See you in the Autumn!
23.01.2022 MENU Sunday October 4th Soup ~ Fresh Spinach w/ Rosemary Croutons served with Garlic Toast $5.00 GF Meat Meal ~ Baked Ziti Al Forno w/ a Crunchy Green Salad $10.00 Veg Meal ~ Vegetarian Baked Ziti Al Forno w/ Crunchy Green Salad $8.00... After such a wholesome menu last week we’re tempted to serve up some naughty, yummy, slightly indulgent food. Inspired by the Italian American TV series ‘The Soprano’s’ - our pasta recipe comes straight to you from the star bad-boy Tony Soprano’s wife Carmela. Her famous ‘Baked Ziti’ is to die for and it seems she was making trays of it as peace offerings every other episode. Baked Ziti is layered with little meat balls, ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses all baked in a rich marinara sauce and served up with a green, crispy salad to compliment. Our vegetarian version is made with all the same yummy cheeses and sauce, then add seasonal baked vegetables, and a vegetarian protein to the marinara. The Fresh Spinach Soup was very popular last time and with all due respect, we feel it’s clean, green and honest flavour makes a good match!
21.01.2022 Hello Dear Friends of the Bermagui Pick-UP Kitchen!!! With winter beginning to peep over the ramparts we're looking at how to start up and run the BPUK again. We realised we need to find a new way that doesn't burn out the team, so we can continue to put in all the love required to make good tucker available. With this in mind we'd like to get some feedback from you. Please look at the options below and reply here or Private Message me what your preference is. That will help... us decide. 1. Continue as it was last year, but fortnightly instead of weekly 2. Soup and bread only (more like a true soup kitchen, simple and hearty) 3. Same style of food each week (perhaps 3 dishes that rotate week to week) 4. Sit down meal - probably every 3 weeks, limited to 25 seatings, fixed menu, book in advance, private venue. (ie served in a home not a cafe)
12.01.2022 Just letting you know we'll be serving up chapati's tomorrow!!!
11.01.2022 MENU ~ Sunday, October 25th Palak Paneer, Yellow Dahl, Basmati Rice, and Homemade Pickle or Chutney $8.00 (We may have Chapati’s as well in that case the meal would be $9.00)... We're offering one vegetarian meal this week and it's a beautifully balanced, folksy Indian meal. Our Palak Paneer is made with fresh local greens, homegrown turmeric, chilies and a blend of fragrant spices. Our ‘paneer’ is actually haloumi - also a semi-soft cheese originating from Cyprus. After years of living in India ourselves this recipe ‘Everyday Yellow Dahl has stood the test of time and has become our absolute favourite. We may also be serving chapattis and ghee - Carolyn will let you know on the door. You are all invited to a GROUP PHOTO shoot this Saturday at 12:00 at the River Rock Café. We’d like to send a photo of all the Bermagui Pick-Up Kitchen diners, clients and supporters to send in kind to both the Batwa people in Uganda and the women at the Sewing the Seeds Project in Tamil Nadu. So please come on down and give them a wave or blow them a kiss in the photo. You can wear a mask or socially distance as you feel comfortable. Reminder that Sunday, November 1st will be our last meal service for the summer season. We expect to be back after the summer holidays in February.

02.01.2022 MENU ~ Sunday October 18th Soup ~ Emerald Pea w/ Basil Oil and Fresh Mint served w/ Garlic Toast $5.00 GF Veg Meal - Asian Fusion Coconut Vegetable Curry w/ Baked Almond Rice and Green Veg. $8.00 GF, DF... Meat Meal ~ Asian Fusion Coconut Chicken Curry w/ Baked Almond Rice and Green Veg. $10.00 GF, DF & Free Range This week we’re back in the saddle with some BPUK ‘Classics’. Emerald Pea soup is Chef Ottolenghi’s remix on an old classic has that lovely round mouth feeling of ‘umami’ with hints of basil and mint for the upper register and garlic for extra sweetness and complexity. Asian Fusion Coconut Vegetable Curry has all the ‘bam, bam and bam’ one could want in a veggie meal. Coconut for sweet and round, seasonal vegetables for minerally depth and the warming spices for the out front flavour. With a polite but weighted measure of heat. Baked Almond Rice adds a bit of crunch to the whole affair. Add pieces of free range chicken fto this for the meat meal. Serving from 6:00pm until sold out at the River Rock Café. Update ~ the BPUK will be serving each Sunday until and including November 1st. We’ll stop for the summer months and return after school holidays. With a possible Pop-Up evening. Good news from the Batwa tribe in Uganda. They likely have enough food in the ground and supplies to last them for a year now. They especially send their thanks to the NSW people here in this photos. There are many hands stirring these pots you know who you are so big thanks!!
