24.01.2022 Australian Lions Hearing Dogs are now training dogs to assist people with Type 1 diabetes. The dogs are provided free of charge to the recipient, and are funded by Lions Clubs across Australia. 23.01.2022 Lions club of Berri ran another successful Pyjama Drive despite COVID-19 restrictions. Unlike previous years we were unable to have a physical presence at the Central Plaza in Berri, however thanks to Coles Berri acting as a collection point and a very generous community we were again able to collect a good number of pyjamas. These have been donated to the Salvation Army for distribution through other community groups to the needy families in the Riverland. The Lions Club of Berri would like to give a big thank you to the community for your generosity during these troubling times. Below is Lion Theresa Andrew donating the pyjamas to Sue from the Salvation Army.

19.01.2022 Recently we were pleased to present a cheque for $5000 to the Riverland Special School to assist with building an all abilities playground. The money was raised through the sale of the Images of the Riverland calendar. Now the dream is a reality! Our members joined staff and students from the School, and Tony Pasin, Member for Barker, to officially open the new playground. It is truly wonderful to see the joy on these children’s faces. 18.01.2022 Recently our Club made a donation of $500 to assist the Riverland Special School Girls Guides. The original intent has been to support their attendance at the State Girl Guides Camp, but due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, this was not possible. Instead, the donation has been used to fund their registration fees, and a sleep over is planned for later in the year. We were so pleased to receive this note from the Group! #youcantoo #berrilions #riverland #supportingthecommunity

18.01.2022 Thanks to Aaron Brewer and the service team at Coles Berri for being a collection point for our pyjamas drive this year. As we were unable to physically be in the plaza we placed a collection bin in front of the service desk and managed to collect 58 pyjamas and $75. This added to pyjamas bought from other donated monies, brings our total number of pyjamas to over 135. Thank you to those who donated.

10.01.2022 Recently our Club donated some Bunnings Warehouse Australia vouchers to assist the residents of the Berri Cottage Homes to establish a garden at their new Community Centre on McGilton Road. 09.01.2022 Berri Lions celebrated in style last night at their a Handover Dinner. Immediate Past President Dennis presented a number of awards and recognised the contribution of our members to the success of the 2019-20 year. 05.01.2022 This week, our members joined Berri Rotary and the Zonta Club in fellowship at our annual Berri Combined Services Clubs dinner. Each President shared their Clubs achievements for the year, whilst enjoying a meal and shared ideas for service in our town. 02.01.2022 Today, Berri Lions Club made a significant donation of $5000 to assist with the construction of an all abilities playground at the Riverland Special School. This school assist special needs children from across the Riverland and Mallee areas. This donation was made possible with proceeds from the sales of the Images of the Riverland Calendar and is a part of the celebration of the 50 year anniversary of our Club.
