25.01.2022 It was brought to our attention that amid the chaos of #covid_19 our very own Victorian police, the men & woman on the front line enforcing the laws that protect us are without Antibacterial wipes, so we swung into action and donated 100 packets to Wodonga Police Station to help keep them safe on the job @vicpolice
22.01.2022 As a community group we would like to offer care packages of non perishable foods to the elderly & those in need and unable to get to the shops as they are high risk of contracting #covid_19. We ask for honesty and for people not to be greedy, first and foremost we want to give back to Bellbridge, Bethanga, Talgarno, Granya & in between properties - the community that has got behind @berringasupporrt since day one. They will be delivered to front doors, we will be sanitising & using gloves & face masks, sticking with no-contact guidelines set out by the World Health Organisation. If you know if anyone in need or you yourself could use one of these care packages please send us a message.
22.01.2022 Huge Thanks to Trevor Jones & the team at Steeline Albury they have helped us out with getting a shed for a lady & her little girl that lost everything including there home, cars, sheds, tools... the lot, in the Upper Murray Fires. Today they loaded up & delivered to her ready for for the first stage of her rebuild. Thank you all so much, you really have no idea how much this means to them both. @ Walwa, Victoria
21.01.2022 Yesterday’s news... it’s less than 8 weeks ago since our catastrophic bush fires were extinguished in Australia. For the record, as of 9 March 2020, 18.6 million hectares had been burnt (that’s 46 million acres / 186,000 square kilometres or 72,000 square miles of land), 2779 homes destroyed, 34 people killed and an estimated one billion animals killed. . Many of those communities are still waiting for their homes to be cleared so they can start again and some are feeling f...orgotten as we have moved onto fighting the pandemic. Of course we all understand it is necessary to focus the fight against the virus but let’s also remember these communities were dealt a triple whammy by years of crippling drought, then the fires and just when they were about to rebuild to welcome people again, the evil that is C-19 arrived and all their rebuilding was shut down. Let’s not forget them. There are sites where you can buy online direct from farms, cafes and the small producers impacted at @buyfromthebush and @spendwiththem and when we are able to safely travel again (whenever that may be) there is a great page dedicated to helping re-establish tourism in communities impacted by the fires and COVID called @staywiththemau Also check out @emptyesky for more bushfire recovery ideas. . I saw these grass bales in rural Victoria about 3 days before hell on earth broke loose with the fires. We flew out of Victoria just as the fires started but we had already lost parts of our beloved Lamington National Park in my home State before the fires reached Victoria. I love the way these bales are scattered around the landscape there. (Don’t be fooled by that patch of irrigated green in the background. It was very dry across the state from the drought). #Repost @lisa.belgo96 See more
21.01.2022 NEW SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS: Applications are now open for the new $10,000 Small Business Bushfire Support Grant. To apply or read the full eligibility criteria,... visit https://www.ruralfinance.com.au//small-business-bushfire-s The grant is designed to assist with the costs of maintaining businesses, including covering salaries, rents and utilities, seeking financial advice and making the adjustments required to continue after the bushfires. To be eligible, small businesses (including primary producers) in Towong, East Gippsland and Alpine shires must have experienced a 40 per cent decline in revenue over a three-month period, compared to the previous year, as a result of the 2019/20 Victorian Bushfires. Further eligibility criteria apply. A decline in revenue can relate to the effects of an evacuation order, supply chain interruptions, stock damage or significantly reduced visitor numbers. You can also visit www.brv.vic.gov.au or call us at 1800 560 760 for more information.

09.01.2022 Towong Shire Mayor Cr David Wortmann is encouraging local residents and businesses to register to be part of Bushfire Recovery. I encourage residents and busin...esses to get involved, giving a voice to the unique and different recovery needs across the Upper Murray, Mitta Valley, greater Tallangatta and the Peninsula he said. Mayor Wortmann said the Community Led approach ensures that every community impacted by the Upper Murray Bushfires, whether directly or indirectly, is well represented. For recovery to be most effective, it is important that the voices and experiences of community members are front and centre in recovery planning and delivery he said. To register, complete the online form by Friday. If you have any questions, chat to a member of the Recovery team on 1800 518 222 or email [email protected] https://fs2.formsite.com/diird/tscrecoverygroups/index.html
07.01.2022 After the fires, now this The Nariel Creek could definitely use a good flush but please don’t let it flood on them.
05.01.2022 We couldn’t agree more Josh!! So many people are still in need after the Upper Murray Fires! Just because it’s not front page news or in our faces each night on the Tele, DOES NOT mean people aren’t struggling mentally or financially! All this donated money & notion-able Bush Fire Recovery Fund is not getting to those in need! ... Spend the ‘Stimulus Package’ on the ones that actually need the help with the recovery and the economy will be just fine! And better still give it to the grassroots groups out on the roads, travelling to the farm gates day in and day out and action will happen... our volunteers can only spend so much of their own money trying to help!
