24.01.2022 Dear All, Just a quick update for the board training. There has been a change of date where we originally said training was on the 23rd January @ 10am. All Ages are welcome and Crabs will also be training with a range of skills on the day. Regards RLSC Committee

23.01.2022 Hi - all well, See you all - See this tomorrow @12pm ch 9 - this is something else See you soon! https://youtu.be/B2yZLk0QxAE

23.01.2022 Dear Members and Friends Hope you are well and are going ok during these difficult times. Obviously with what is happening we have had to change our ANZAC Day Commemorations slightly this year.... Our great sponsors Ramsgate RSL have come up with a Place a Poppy campaign which is encouraging our local community to place a poppy in their window in the lead up to ANZAC Day to remember our brave past and present service personnel. We have reached out to our neighbours, schools, daycares and local businesses and we are hoping our sporting clubs will also jump on board so we have a field of poppies in our local community. To help you out use this link https://www.ramsgatersl.com.au/ev/place-a-poppy/2020-04-09/ Or copy and paste the above in your URL. Good luck everyone. RLSC Committee

23.01.2022 Good Morning All, To begin with this quote as for yesterday's events: "When you begin to exchange your emotions for symptoms!"... What a great day yesterday was for the Parents V Kids races. I believe that there are and will be - I would love to see some of you hop out of bed tomorrow - some sore bodies around but the Committee would like to thank everyone involved on the day was a huge success. Our programme will now concentrate on the water events from now until the end of the season. More time will be put into the board races and the iron person events. More instruction will be given with these 2 disciplines over the coming weeks. Again thank you to all the parents that got involved - the look on the kids faces to see you compete will never be forgotten! RLSC Committee

This is only the start of some exciting initiatives that RLSC is looking at with SLSS. The Age Managers Program needs you to attend a classroom style course for 21/2 hours on Saturday 22 August starting at 2pm. There is no cost to members of RLSC. Please advise if you can attend or have any questions by contacting either myself or Simon Sly (Club Vice President ) on the numbers below. Look forward to your interest. 20.01.2022 The RLSC competition and safety committee regretfully informs all members and Nippers will be cancelled this weekend. Below is what we have been advised about Sunday. Sunday 9 February Summary... Min 21 Max 24 Rain. Possible heavy falls. Possible rainfall: 40 to 80 mm Chance of any rain: 95% Sydney area Cloudy. Very high (95%) chance of rain. The chance of a thunderstorm. Heavy falls possible. Winds east to southeasterly 30 to 45 km/h tending south to southeasterly 25 to 40 km/h during the morning then shifting northeasterly 25 to 35 km/h during the afternoon. This decision has not been made lightly. We have sought input from a wide range of sources. The unanimous expectation is a forecast for strong east winds, heavy rainfall and large swell located in the Botany Bay area with dangerous surf building over the weekend up and down the coast with Sunday looking especially large. We recognise that revisions to the forecast are possible and that it may improve as we get closer to the weekend. The decision, however, needs to be made early to allow families to plan ahead for the coming wet weekend. See you all the following Sunday and keep safe. RLSC Committee

09.01.2022 Ramsgate Members and Friends. Parents lets not think that a jog around the block this afternoon will suffice for tomorrows events. By all means - off you go but these kids are tough.... So please - its a great day and not serious and the kids love to see their Mum and Dad racing with them. Sign on as normal and collect your cap. Events will be as usual on the beach with a tug of war then a swim and to cap the day the famous all age relay! Nick Kontas and our President Andrew Tsounis will be commentating on the day! RLSC Committee

09.01.2022 Good afternoon members and friends. As we prepare for the final day of what has been an outstanding season - to be honest one of the best I have been involved in. But in saying so, at the end of every Nippers season, this Sunday, RLSC holds an extra competition day for the Nippers, this day is called Club Championship Day. ... This is a single day event where extra awards can be won. These awards will be presented at the end of Season Presentation Day, for the first three overall place getters in each age group. If you have qualified with attendance 75% - which is 10/13 Sunday's you will qualify for the Championship. You will need to sign on as normal and when you sign on you will receive a washable black marker cross on your child's arm that will tell the officials that they have qualified. If you don't receive the washable black marker cross on your arm you are still able to compete in a separate race on the day as per each and every Sunday. Points will be awarded on the following basis: 1st Place 5 points 2nd Place 4 Points 3rd Place 3 Points 4th Place 2 Points So basically if you went like a busted all year but came and won a few events on Sunday you could possibly be crowned Club Champion for the year - bearing in mind you have attended @ 75% you could be crowned Club Champion. Which is totally different to the point score champion for the year. Club Championship does not apply to the Crabs (3-4yr olds), it will be a normal day like every other Sunday for them. The day should finish approximately the same time as every other Sunday, as we run the exact same events. See you all tomorrow and stay around after the events and celebrate a great season with these little champions! Thank you all for your help over the season and because of you it has been run so well with the small changes made in regards to concurrent events each Sunday. See you all tomorrow. RLSC Committee

08.01.2022 Hi all, Firstly welcome to all new members and welcome back to those returning. We have had a positive start to our season so far and are always looking to improve our operations.... RLSC has adopted an action plan to minimise health risks during our activities, please follow instructions from the Covid Marshalls. RLSC is currently seeking expressions of interest for volunteers to act as Age Managers for the following age groups. They range from 5 years through to 13+. We would like upwards of x2 or depending on the numbers of the age group. The age manager's role is to mark off the child's name on the attendance list provided and follow instructions of the beach official as and when that age group is to their next event. You will then need to sign each child out ONCE you are comfortable with the parent or carer involved with the child at the end of the day. As Covid has changed our procedure there is no more sign on in the Clubhouse the Nippers will go directly to their age sign on the beach where the Age Manager's will be present to complete the procedure. Please note if you would like to be an Age Manager you will need to be on the beach each week no later than 8.30am sign on for start at 9am. We need to keep a record of all volunteers so please print your name and mobile clearly at the top of the sheet in the space provided. At this point we are taking expressions of interest. If you would like to nominate an age group where you would like to encourage good sportsmanship, fun and above all have a sense of humor please email [email protected] by Saturday night 7pm. All volunteers, sand and water events will need to be wearing a hi visibility vest which are available at the clubhouse after signing in their name and mobile number clearly on the weekly list. See you all on Sunday. RLSC Committee

08.01.2022 Dear Members and Friends! Have a very safe and happy Christmas and see you all in the New Year - remember to never swim alone!. The club thanks you for all your support. Merry Christmas to you all!... We miss you already!!! RLSC Committee. See more

07.01.2022 To All Members and Friends of RLSC Moving to this Sunday RLSC is again participating in the Annual Clean Up Australia activities. This year we are at home!... If you can spare 30 minutes to help clean up our beach after Nippers would be of great help. We have however a number of volunteers that will be at the Clubhouse to have your name registered for the Clean Up Australia Day. Register your name with our volunteers and you will receive gloves and a clean up Australia rubbish bag and off you go. With our Nippers there MUST be an adult from our Club WITH a coloured vest on to take the Nippers around to collect the rubbish found. Our BBQ will be held at Ramsgate Beach this week. For those that can participate in Clean UP Australia they should be finished by midday and will receive a certificate at the RLSC presentation day. So come on and lets do a bit for our natural environment. Registration tables will set up at Ramsgate Beach. You all on Sunday. Andrew President RLSC

07.01.2022 To all our Nippers and Crab members and their families Finally the 2020/21 season is about to kick off this Sunday 18th October. Please be there well before 8:30am for marshalling and starting at 9am.... Due to the volume of participants this year - be aware that the first morning will be a familiarise process. Remember all participants must be in club clothing and all marshals and volunteers on the beach must wear a club vest. More details will be provided prior to commencement on Sunday. Well done today with the training day today - we have some good Nippers in the Club. See you all on Sunday ready to go. RLSC Committee.

06.01.2022 Good Evening All, It is with great pleasure that we now announce the Ramsgate Life Saving Club Senior Club captain and the Junior Club Captain for the 20/21 season. Our Committee operate as a team, draw on the skills and talents of each member, and work toward common goals to ensure club success. Effective Club Captains should have and have had the following over a period of competing and or volunteering their time each and every Sunday of the season. 06.01.2022 Good afternoon Members and Friends. At 10am the 19th January we will be having board only training for all ages for our Nippers. The procedure will be to sign on an attendance list which will be located inside the Clubhouse and then a sign out sheet will be there on completion of training prior to leaving on the day.... The day will consist of entry into and out of the water, falling off the board and getting back on! Sounds easy but I/we will make them fall off with the help of our water marshall's then get them to get back on the board and off they go. Turning around the cans will also be highlighted in training. Set aside 2 hours as letting the Nippers have free play at the end of training on the boards is where they learn the most. Board training coaches and helpers are all volunteers. Board training can take place in variable conditions, so therefore we NEED as many parents as possible to be present on the beach or in water observing their children. Parents - you will need to collect a safety vest to be on the beach. See you all there - make sure to wear your RLSC rash shirt.

05.01.2022 To members and friends of Ramsgate Life Saving Club It is unfortunate that Ramsgate RSL following advice from NSW Health and Clubs NSW has requested Ramsgate Life Saving Club cancel our proposed presentation day to be held on Sunday 22 March 2020. As a consequence RLSC will abide by the current restrictions to meetings recommend by the State Government and our local RSL in the interest of public safety.... Ramsgate RSL is a valuable supporter of our club and the RSLC committee thanks them for their ongoing generosity. To all our nippers, crabs and their families we apologise for not being able to recognise the achievements of the children over the summer months. The committee will consider an alternate way of undertaking our prestation day given the current situation and advise everyone as we know more. On behalf of the committee of RSLC I would like to express my gratitude for the generosity offered by our Nippers volunteers and helpers over the past season. Without you this club cannot be as successful at it has become. But most importantly I wish to commend our nippers for being competitive, attentive and engaged over the weeks of the Nippers programme. Good Health to everyone and we look forward to seeing everyone soon. For the committee Andrew Tsounis RLSC President

04.01.2022 To all nippers and their families Unfortunately the first aid training course scheduled for Saturday 14 March 2020 has been cancelled as a number of people could not commit to this date. We invite everyone to come early to mingle with their friends and get a good spot. After the presentations there will be a buffet for all those attending and the dance floor will be cleared for our upcoming dancing stars. Everyone is welcome.
