24.01.2022 8 bikes checked out last week. The Triumph Daytona 675 really caught my eye! Neat bike with a LAMS compliance makes for one great triple treat. This model must only just make it into the LAMS category! See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

21.01.2022 So whats the message here?

20.01.2022 Took on 9 bikes this week and only 2 needing air. Tyre pressure makes a hell of a difference to your bikes handling, check it often! Sometimes there's nothing more than riding a small capacity motorcycle with superb handling. One where you can use all of it's available power. That Yamaha R3 is one of those bikes, looks new and rides like new. Gets my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

16.01.2022 Down south for a few days but managed to ride 8 bikes this week. There is always a surprise on the shop floor and after riding my favourite adrenaline fuelled R1, even at 12 years old, still fast. The blurb for the next bike was "as fast as hell", well I don't know how fast "hell" is but it sounded like someone being whipped in hell and that big bang engine is certainly fast. Top it off with the quickshifter and you could almost see your licence deminish before your eyes. It is some bike and the Yamaha MT10 gets my bike of the week. Oh, and there are 3 Honda VT400 Lam's available for those who want to retain their licence! See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

16.01.2022 In one respect we are very lucky to have decent roads to cruise around on our favourite rides. I was in Rhodes and admiring the rides of Rhodes which are simply a means to get from A to B. You may talk patina but these rides have lived a full and meaningful but unloved life. I hired one and with so many mountains close by they work so hard. Tortured a SYM 125cc for a day so it has to be my SCOOTER of the week! The first photo is in Turkey at Marmaris. Bicycles have the blue path and scooters rule the streets. Comon Perth, solve the traffic problem!

15.01.2022 13 bikes checked out last week of varying sizes and styles. We are fortunate to have such a vast choice of rides available in Australia. All have a place in our market and their owners have their reason for owning them. Having to pick one this week I have to go for a 15 year old 50k bike which still feels tight and was well looked after. What a bike these things are, the Yamaha R1. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

14.01.2022 Last week I got the chance to ride 7 motorcycles. Some may say 3 of them were not motorcycles and it was the 3 with a combined motor capacity of 225 cc's! One was a highly modified 50cc rocket ship and one had three wheels. Then there was a well-used virago 750 cc, oh how I wish Yamaha put that sweet engine in a standard style bike. The one I enjoyed riding most was the Yamaha fazer lots of extras, one sweet engine and a reasonable price. That's my bike of the week.

12.01.2022 Rode 5 bikes this week. The M109 battleship fully optioned up was a surprisingly smooth propellant. The XJR1300 is a long distance easy bike to own but that smooth VTEC V4 framed into that comfortable framed seating/riding setup gets my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

11.01.2022 Only managed 4 motorcycles this week and my bike of the week has been sold! Had the last blast to add air into the tyres which are in for a torturous life. The lucky owner gets the fast as hell big bang engine, the quickshifter and sharp handling which makes the MT10 my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

10.01.2022 Another six bikes this week which varied like a Domino pizza menu. A Harley-Davidson steed, a Benelli BN 600S, a Yamaha Star XVS 1300 full dresser, a Yamaha 1900 cc Warrior, a C90 Suzuki Boulevard and a Yamaha XVS 950! Now if you want the coolest bike the one with the polished rims, deep Chrome and that massive 1900cc twin cylinder drive this week the warrior gets my bike of the week and they are not making any more! No other pictures as unlike all those motorbikes the phone battery went flat.

07.01.2022 Shiny side up in 2019! Rode 10 bikes and 21 wheels this week. Almost all producing that "wow, this is smooth" feel. Just goes to show how engines, drivetrains, brakes and suspensions have perfected over the years. But it's the Yamaha XSR900 with that brilliant 3 pot engine which gets my bike of the week! See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

07.01.2022 The charger has been busy elsewhere this last week and could only manage the 6 bikes. Hey that 99 TRX850 is a plum! Each time I saddle up an R1 I can't get past their scary performance and the one shown is embellished with $8,000 of Olins suspension goodies, making it a bargain indeed at the listed price BUT this week my bike of the week goes to the tricked up MT10, a bike with that big bang engine, quickshifter and sharp handling making it the fun machine!. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

06.01.2022 Busy times indeed so only 3 bikes this week. The tiny Sachs Maddass pit bike is different to say the least! It's licensed though so surprise a friend by arriving on the bike of the week!! See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

06.01.2022 Well here we go into 2019, where will we end up in 12 months time? Is there a market that will gain momentum? The three bikes I rode this week, the small adventure bike, the large adventure bike and an incredible sports tourer are all fun to ride. Whilst our laws in Aus are quite severe when riding bikes with engines putting 150+HP into the rear tyre I'm going to stick my head out and dare I say the small to medium adventure bike class could be the dominant sector in 12 months time!

06.01.2022 This is getting all too hard. There's just too many nice bikes to ride these days. Both the MT09 and the MT10 have quick shifters, the MT09 sounds awesome and the MT10 goes like stink. The Honda CBR 600 RR is such a sweet handling bike loaded with upgrades but there is another bike here. It's an older Yamaha R1 with ohlins suspension. now if you want a track bike or a bike that does everything a sports bike should do with ease that's the one. Also there is an XSR 900 "SC PROJECT" bike as new optioned to the max by the shop and freshly traded. These XSR's have that beautiful MT09 triple engine so I'm calling this my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha!

05.01.2022 Last week I rode 6 motorcycles. A couple of Italian thourobreds, a Benelli and a MV Agusta but If you are looking at touring the country in an effortless style with smooth power to burn look no further than either of the two Yamaha XJR1300's. One has more klms but ride pretty much identical. They are my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

05.01.2022 Here we go with a post from Sardinia. Big bikes rule and they are welcomed on the island. There are roads matching anything I have seen and they come from all over Europe to enjoy good roads and fantastic villages. Predominantly twins with most manufacturers represented, BMW's rule followed by Ducati then the Japanese twins, a few Guzzies, Triumphs and some big scooters on tour as well. Its strange I didn't see any full on Japanese sport bikes. Riders take this serious, nicely adorned with matching protective gear. It's a joy to sit by and listen then watch large groups sweep past. Bike envy, yes. BMW has to be the bike of the week just by their sheer numbers.

03.01.2022 Back after a few busy weeks elsewhere and was good to run 11 bikes this week. First time I've ridden a three wheeler for many years and a clutch of Honda VT400 cruisers. Such a varied assortment of rides, all have something on offer however the Honda Crossrunner with that Vtech V4 and its "ride all day" seating position gets my bike of the week. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

03.01.2022 Back after a few busy weeks elsewhere and saddled up 6 bikes this week. Well 2 may be outside the classification of bikes being a combined 100cc oil burning scooters. Go back 20 years and the bike that started the metric cruisers was by then embedded on the sales chart. It's a 10/10 condition Virago 1100, carbies, a choke, spokes and got lots of questions at the coffee stop. It's my bike of the week. Ideal for those who say the footpath is to close to their buttocks. See them all at Five Star Yamaha.

01.01.2022 This week it's the best gear of the week! I'm guilty of not wearing the correct protection when riding around town but when touring I wear the best I have. How thoughts flash past when sliding down the road after a front aquaplane at 110 klms like "when is my skin starting to join the bitumen" Thank you my Dririder Nordic, now ruined, my Kevlar jeans, repairable and boots, ankle leather repaired no skin lost. So best gear of the week goes to the above mentioned.
