23.01.2022 How to create a Metallic Drip Cake Boil your kettle. Pour boiled water into a container and put your 100gram Deco Magic Original gel pouch into container & leave in there for 15 minutes to heat. Melt 50grams of white chocolate into a bowl. Remove your Deco Magic Original gel pouch from the hot water. Dry the pouch, then cut & squeeze all of the Deco Magic Original gel into the white chocolate.... Mix this together with a spoon until completely combined. Your "Drippy" Deco Magic gel is now ready to use. Use a Loyal disposable piping bag with a small writing size nozzle to create the drips. Put your drippy Deco Magic gel into your piping bag so you are able to create your drips on your cake. Go around the top edge of your cake with your piping bag creating a beaded edge where you want your drips to be. Once you have done your top edge, leave this to slowly drip down the side of your cake. I find this may take between 1-2 hours before it will completely stop moving (just let gravity do its work). Palette some of your left over "Drippy" Deco Magic gel over the top of your cake so it is completely covered. 0nce dry, you can see that the drip effect will stay "bulbed". See more

22.01.2022 How do you get a true black icing that doesnt shift to green or gray? Start with Brown Icing or add some Cocoa to Buttercream Icing to Darken it. Then add Black Paste or Gel Colour.

12.01.2022 The launch of Renshaws new Ready To Roll Icing/Fondants are almost here. It has great elasticity and is very pliable and easy to work with. We really think this will become the leader in the field in a very short time. Stocks will be arriving in the next few weeks and more colours and products will be added in a months time. Another great aspect is the packaging. The 1kg comes in a plastic tub and is packaged as 2 x 500gr in sealed bags. Likewise the 3kg is 3 x 1kg in a tub and the 10kg is 4 x 2.5kg. 08.01.2022 This time of year we are constantly receiveing enquiries for Marzipan. At the moment we do not have a supplier so heres a recipe. Marzipan 300g/ 12 oz Ground Almonds... 130g/ 6oz Caster Sugar 130g/ 6 oz Icing Sugar 2 egg yolks beaten 1 egg white (Keep the remaining egg white to one side for when putting the marzipan on the cake.) 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice Few drops of almond essence The Method Put all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix together and mould it into one piece, just like play dough. Yes...it is THAT simple.

02.01.2022 REQUEST FOR HELP: Any of you wonderful and generous cake decorators have any spare equipment to help out one of our local cake decorators who lost her house and therefore all her cake decorating equipment in the Lobethal fire. Teresa Langmead who runs She Baked doesnt want to let her customers with orders in the pipeline down so is trying to struggle on although she has lost everything. If you have anything you would be happy to donate, please either drop it in to our shop (although we are closing today until the 2/1/20) or email us and we will arrange to collect it. Any help would be really appreciated.
