25.01.2022 Wine Tasting this Saturday Fieldie 2020 Sangiovese 2020 Miscela Blend 2020... South by South West wines Small batch #wines with big personalities. They are hand crafted by two passionate ladies Mij & Liv. The pair travelled around the globe on a wine safari, California, Italy, France and British Columbia. Blessed to learn from some of the best, they gained a deeper understanding of terroir, traditional viticultural practices, #wine-making and picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. When they landed back on Aussie soil in Western Australia they started etching out their own wine label. If you really want to get to know the wines, grab a bottle in-store or online and pour a glass! I also highly recommend following their IG for some quality #vintage shots and story updates. Almost feels like your making the #wine with them @southbysouthwestwine #southbysouthwestwine See more

25.01.2022 Adam Foster has always had an interest in food and wine. Whilst spending many of his years completing a chef’s apprenticeship and working in some of Victoria and London’s best kitchens he also maintained an interest in Front of House activities particularly the cellars and #wine lists. In 2002 Foster decided to give up ‘chefing’ to immerse himself in the #winemaking process. Since then his experience in the industry has been quite diverse and somewhat unconventional. ...Bruno Sangiovese 2012 Heathcote, from the Greenstone #vineyard in the Colbinabbin sub-region. The fruit for this Sangiovse was 100% destemmed, cold soaked for 58 days on skins, pressed into 1x 500L puncheon and aged for 42 months. Bottled in 2015 and aged for a further 5 years before release, only 564 bottles made! only a few availalbe in-store. 22.01.2022 Oregon wine made by an Aussie, Peter Dredge, finalist for winemaker of the year 2020. Tiny quantities, some of the best value US wine available in Australia, these won’t last long! @ ... . Charismatic, and immediately appealing for its distinct personality. It’s ultra-mineral, a smoky pumice stone character, which, in a way, puts me in mind of Etna, though it’s not that, but has a kinship. Texture is a highlight, gentle drag of dusty tannin, set in glistening strawberry juiciness, fruity, yet bony, with cool acidity and heaps good smoky length. It’s a wine of verity, dry wit, and uncompromising volcanic personality. Or something like that." . It’s rosy and spicy, with a crushed rock feel, red cherry and strawberry, and a slight smokiness. Medium-bodied, sappy and full of fresh cherry and red fruit, a smattering of aromatic herbs, tannin has a fine chalky feel offering sure grip, and then a spicy and floral vanilla-tinged finish of excellent length. So vibrant and engaging. Beautiful wine. Distinct sense of place, too." . Red fruit, pepper, ash, fennel and roses. Light to medium-bodied, crisp and frisky, lick of pumice stone tannin, strawberry and raspberry flavour, juicy, mineral, dusty feel with succulence of fruit, and a long dried herb tinged finish. Such energy and verve. Outstanding. Something extra in the glass here, and a delight for lovers of fine Pinot Noir, no doubt." #dredge#winemaker#oregon#oregonpinotnoir#gamay#peterdredge See more

21.01.2022 One of our favourite Soave producers, Suavia. For generations the life of the Tessari family has been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine in the Soave area, the oldest white wine production area in Italy. Since 1887 the family has owned vineyards at the very heart of the Soave Classico area. This is a restricted area with a unique terrior, centred around the small village of Fittà. ... Monte Carbonare is the name of the hill where the vineyard is planted, fairly old vines - dating back to 1982. The wine is made from 100% Garganega and exposed only to stainless steel in order to preserve freshness. The Tessari family describes this wine as earth in a glassa pure expression of their volcanic terroir. "It tastes of rain on flint, on the black stones of the dry walls, and of that good fragrance that the countryside releases when dampened by the first rain" Massifitti is a wine made from the Trebbiano di Soave, this grape has been grown in the Fitta hills for centuries. This wine is creamy and savoury, it delivers ripe pear, aromatic herbs and mineral alongside crisp acidity. Both wines are very limited. #soave#italianwine#trebbianodisoave#suavia See more

20.01.2022 This Saturday, basket range wines are on tasting from 12pm swipe to find out more The wines are made from fruit which we farm organically, and the wines undergo no additions other than some wines getting a small amount of sulphur. I’d like to make wines which are delicious and easy to drink lots of, but also focus on wines which are more structured and can develop longer with more depth and complexity. This is a big influence from Dad, who makes cabernet, merlot and petit verdot which age very well. I’m finding these varieties particularly interesting, says Winemaker, Sholto.

20.01.2022 Nikka Whisky, one of Japan's top whisky makers, has its main distillery in Yoichi. The company was founded by Taketsuru Masataka, known as the father of Japanese whisky, who studied whisky making techniques for several years in Scotland before bringing the trade to Japan. He was instrumental in establishing the country's first whisky distillery, the Yamazaki Distillery near Kyoto, before he set out on his own to start Nikka Whisky here in Hokkaido. The Yoichi Distille...ry was built in 1934, on a site chosen for its clear water, brisk air and rich peat. Taketsuru believed that the conditions in Yoichi best resembled those found in Scotland and would be perfect for recreating Scotch whisky. The traditional distillation process that he brought over is largely unchanged today. 17.01.2022 A tasting not to be missed! Larmandier-Bernier and Laherte Frères, this is what you need to be drinking on Christmas day. Saturday 28th of November from 12pm onwards Like Egly-Ouriet and Selosse, Larmandier-Bernier has been rated as one of Champagne’s top 5 producers by Andrew Jefford in his celebrated work, The New France. This estate is meticulously run by Pierre Larmandier and his wife Sophie. Pierre’s family have owned vineyards in the Côte des Blancs since the ...Revolution. The estate is now 15 hectares, predominantly in Vertus, at the Southern tip of the Côte des Blancs, yet there are also holdings in Cramant, Chouilly, Oger & Avize. The vineyards are biodynamically worked (almost unheard of in Champagne) and the average age of the vines is 35 years (most Champagne vineyards are considered 'old' and due for replanting at 25 years). Yields are kept very low by Champagne standards, 50 hl/ha on average. The wines of Laherte Frères bring something unique and delicious to our suite of grower Champagne. This is our first grower from the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay (slopes to the south of Épernay ) where they are certainly the benchmark. They are based in Chavot, where most of their vines are situated, but they also have some parcels in other villages of the Coteaux Sud area as well some tiny holdings in the Côte des Blancs and the Marne Valley. In total they have some 10 hectares broken up into an amazing 75 parcels. #growerchampagne#champagne#champagnetasting#larmandierbernier#lahertefreres See more

15.01.2022 St Henri is a time-honoured and alternative expression of shiraz, and an intriguing counterpoint to Grange. St. Henri is a highly successful, alternative expression of Shiraz. It is unusual among high quality Australian red wines as it does not rely on new oak. It was created in the mid-1950s (first commercial vintage 1957) and gained a new lease of life in the 1990s as its quality and distinctive style became better understood. 10.01.2022 Swipe to see the latest reviews on a few Northern Rhone producers we have in tiny quantities at the shop & online! Thibaud Capellaro! A definite cult producer in the making here, first year his wines make it to Australia, get on the slope train early or you will be left standing at the station with no hydration. Imported via @wholebunchwines and available in limited supply in-store now! Thibaud Capellaro is a young winemaker hailing from Condrieu. The team at wh...olebunch wines were introduced to Thibaud’s wines via a recommendation of the certified Rhone expert - @adamfoster from Syrahmi (Thibaud did vintage in 2018 at Syrahmi). Thibaud's first wines are very promising, showing he is not afraid to find his own path and venture outside of the comfort zone of the regional conventions in Cote-Rotie and Condrieu. Thibaud originally left school to do business studies but then forged his own path in wine. A native son of the Rhone Valley, he has now set up his own project in Condrieu following experiences working with winemakers in France like - Andre Perret, Domaine Joblot, Chateau le Devay and Domaine Duclaux. After first renting a basement, he recently moved to a new winery with all the room he needs to experiment and grow. Thibaud’s Slope project is a negociant project, in which he sources grapes from different farmers and winemakers in the region, all organic and all working on a small scale. The vineyards are in Ardeche, on the St. Joseph appellation, and the Rhone, on the Monts du Lyonnais, an area that usually produces the Coteaux du Lyonnais. See more

09.01.2022 Château Mont-Redon will be familiar to those who know and love Châteauneuf-du-Pape being well recognised as the owners of some of the most highly regarded vineyard sites in the appellation. The superb quality of its 100 hectares of vineyards has been recognized throughout history and date back to the 14th Century. Prior to the change of the appellation controlee system it was one of the few Grand cru’s in the region (together with Chateau Rayas), and producing some ...of the most elegant of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. 2016 was an outstanding vintage in the Southern Rhone, the wines have equalled or exceeded the concentration of the 2015s but the acidity and freshness in the 16s elevates the wines to another level of vibrancy. Some are calling it the best vintage in 50 years! Josh Raynolds for Vinous wrote ‘If exuberant ripe fruit, harmonious tannins and an overall impression of generosity and lushness are what you’re after in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, then 2016 has plenty to offer. But the best wines also display real energy, making this a standout vintage.’ #montredon#rhone#rhonewine#grenache#chateauneufdupape See more

01.01.2022 Less than a dozen left! - a project that started in 2009 by 2 winemakers, Fernando Garcia and Dani Landi. The name refers to a well-known cartoon series from the winemaker's childhood. The G just so happens to fit in perfectly as they focus on Grenache from Gredos grown on Granite soils. Sierra de Gredos is a rugged, beautiful landscape that spreads across 3 valleys. It has been producing wine for centuries, but had, until less than a decade ago, all bu...t fallen off the map. The region's high altitude, 800-1100 metres above sea level, helps attain elegance and balance in grapes that can otherwise seem blousy. When finding new vineyards to work with the winemakers look for granite soils and high altitudes believing these 2 factors give the end wine strength and freshness. This particular wine scored a whopping by Mike Bennie at . No disappointment here. So perfumed, all red cherry, anise, fennel, cranberry and rose petals, with the faintest whiff of smoky, warm rocks. The palate finds similar flavours, sheathed with herb-laced, stony, ultra fine tannins. Incredible persistence of flavour, tension and succulence are noteworthy comments. Such a beautiful, fine wine to drink. Utterly delicious and detailed. See more

01.01.2022 Suertes del Marqués is a family winery that has been producing wines since 2006. However, our tradition as winegrowers dates back to twenty years ago that date, growing and selling our grapes to other wineries. They are located in the north of the island of Tenerife, in Valle de La Orotava. Everything is meticulously carried out by hand, from works in the vineyard to harvest, using only natural products. Only indigenous yeasts, they avoid racking and use only mi...nimal amounts of sulfur. We currently have one of their villages wines, 7 Fuentes and one of their Single vintages wines, Candio in-store. 7 Fuentes is composed of 35 plots from their property and surrounding neighbours. This wine is made with two varietals: Listán Negro and Tintilla. Candio, comes from their plot El Barranco, made from Listán Negro ungrafted vines between 80 and 150 years old grown on volcanic rock covered by a clay layer. Wines from Tenerife are one of a kind, because of the hot and humid tropical conditions here, the Canary Islands are not, in theory, ideal for growing grapes for wine. But the island has unique climatic and topographical features that make wine production possible. High altitude stone-terrace vineyards ensure that freshness and acidity are maintained in the grapes. Another important factor is the soil, which is largely derived from the islands' volcanic activity. The soil imparts mineral and subtle, salty notes to the otherwise largely aromatic local wines. Wines that need to be tasted to understand the beauty of these volcanic island wines. See more
