25.01.2022 Last Friday you may have seen some #BethungraRovers running around the City CBD taking pictures and performing strange tasks. Fear not! We had not gone crazy, we were #scavenger hunting! Hamish, Oli and Max planned and organised this fantastic activity. Two teams, with one member each (Charlotte and Nick G) at home cracking codes and riddles while relaying information back to their team to find the items on the list. In the end it was very very close...only 18 points apart. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff

25.01.2022 Even when #online, #BethungraRovers continue to grow! Last Friday we invested Max and Nick D into the Unit! We also explored new or current interests in the Outdoor Adventure Skills by building bike repair kits, learning about the Tuckman model and 'debating' the use's of an oar. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff #ScoutingAtHome

25.01.2022 What an #awesome night for #BethungraRovers to return F2F socially-distanced. We started the night with investing our newest Rover - Sophie all the way from #Venturers at Birralee Scout Group. But that wasn't all! We also welcomed and invested Ayla as a Rover Adviser. We look forward to their advise! After a very important Business Meeting we capped the night with the planning of a hike to #PutTheOutBackInScOUT. Bit more planning to do, but we all very excited! It was a grea...t turnout, and even though some couldn't physically come, they still joined via video chat! #RoversDoStuff #DangerousWhenBored #IHaveNotSeenPeopleInAges

25.01.2022 Today the ACT Branch Rover Council and the Human Endeavour Committee awarded and recognised members of Scouts for service. Two #BethungraRovers were recognised. Matt Court receiving the Rover Service Award for exemplary service to the Rover Section. And Nick Gardiner receiving the Special Service Award for praiseworthy service in advising the Branch. Congratulations! #DangerousWhenBored #BRAVO

24.01.2022 Tonight #BethungraRovers planned out our program for the next 2 months! With a key focus on getting #outside, connecting with #Venturers and checking in on mental health as part of #MentalHealthMonth2020. We concluded the night with a skit of Space Jump! Looking forward to another #Adventurous, #Inclusive, #Challenging and #Fun Program!... #DangerousWhenBored #OneProgramOneJourney #ChallengeAreas #RoversDoStuff

24.01.2022 Week before last #BethungraRovers were joined by the Crows Venturers on a night where two mysterious murders were committed. Was it the Librarian? Or the Hymnodist? Hmmmm. Extremely fun night. Thanks Max! Last week following a Business Meeting we did some maintenance by trimming and cleaning some bushes, and ending the night with a Halloween party. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff #Venturers #HalloWEEN

24.01.2022 We have raised our target for the #May50k challenge to beat MS. Check out our page to donate or see our activity. #BethungraRovers #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff https://www.themay50k.org/fundraisers/BethungraRovers

22.01.2022 This week #BethungraRovers headed onto our favourite online encyclopedia... #Wikipedia! It was a race going from article to article as fast as possible keeping the click count as low as possible. This is done by clicking on Wikipedia links in an article to get from a start point to a decided finish point. During the night we had many different races, but some of he more interesting ones were Marble Cake to North Korea in 2 clicks! Going from Koolasuchus (an extinct Australia...n lizard like creature from 120 Million Years ago) to Winston Churchill in 3 clicks. And the surprisingly easiest links and coolest fact, Democracy Sausage to Little Penguin in 4 links. Firstly, the picture for Democracy sausage, a hand holding a Democracy sausage, is the father of one of our Rovers. The second cool act is that the Linux mascot, a little penguin, is based of Tux a penguin at the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra. The reason it is this penguin is because when the founder of Linux was visiting Canberra he got bit by Tux the penguin! https://web.archive.org//20060507115127/http://w/linux/tux #Rovers #Dangerouswhenbored #online #Scoutingathome #RoversDoStuff #ItsWikipediaNotWikiLeaks

22.01.2022 Shout out to our very own #BethungraRovers Matt for his recognition in #kindJuly by the Chief Scout of Australia - His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley. #DangerousWhenBored #PromiseAndLaw #GG #KindnessInTheAir#RoversDoStuff

22.01.2022 Two years ago #BethungraRovers were one of the very first Units to Pioneer the New Program and Pioneer Tracker. Two years later we are now fortunate enough to test out the replacement - Scouts | Terrain developed by #TwoBulls along with Birralee Scout Group. Our very own Rover Nick is also one the Digital Champions in the ACT to support the role out of the new system in the branch. #RoversDoStuff #DangerousWhenBored #OneProgramOneJourney https://scouts.com.au//1200-scouts-begin-user-testing-sco/

21.01.2022 It's been a busy week for #BethungraRovers. On Tuesday we joined the Karla Birna #Venturers at Birralee Scout Group to learn some basic and useful AUSLAN. We learnt how to sign our names, our age and what to eat. On Friday we explored the Bavarian culture of #Oktoberfest by making traditional pretzels in standard shapes, or custom special shapes. Later we had a social gathering. #Yum And finally on Sunday we went on a hike (see previous post).... #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff

21.01.2022 It's been a busy week for #BethungraRovers. Last week we utilised some new features on Scouts | #Terrain to propose ideas and plan out our next fantastic Term through to next year. While we weren't able to plan all of them, we now have a saved collection of ideas as backups or for the next programming session. Last Friday we had a focused discussion on the dark world of abuses and atrocities of the second world war. From the pre war experiments, to the war crimes. It was a le...arning, but also shocking experience for all. Thanks to Kirsten as always for the hard work she puts into researching these topics. On Saturday it was #jota! Bethungra Rovers joined in on the largest global Jamboree by chatting with other Scouts around the world online via the secure Scout Link site. They joined in on the activities with Birralee Scout Group and many others. While there, the Rovers also linked into the Big Think IN Program Conference and joined in a discussion on Venturer Retention hosted by the National Rover Council. It was a fantastic experience and gave us a chance to #review the growth of our Unit and what more we could do . On Sunday it was the AGM of the ACT BRC. Stay tuned for the announcement the newly elected BRC Executive! #dangerouswhenbored #roversdostuff

19.01.2022 Last Friday #BethungraRovers got #Creative with a Bob Ross night led by...Bob Ross?...Max Wood?...Bax Rood? We all gave it our best and we must congratulate Max on his comedic presentation. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff #BobRoss

19.01.2022 "...We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields." The story of the ANZAC's shall forever exist in our hearts. On this day as Scouts, we reflect together. We reflect on the heroism made 105 years ago. We reflect on the heroism made in all past and current conflicts. We reflect the lives lost and the hearts broken. Last night #BethungraRovers made ANZAC biscuits and discussed the importance of #AnzacDay2020. This morning, we will each reflect in our own way.... Lest we forget.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to the incoming BRC Executive for 2021! In particular #BethungraRovers with Hamish elected as Vice Chair, Nick elected as Secretary and Training Officer, and Charlotte elected as the Venturer Liaison Officer! #dangerouswhenbored #TwentyTwentyOneVision

15.01.2022 Happy World Scout Scarf Day!! Congratulations to 2 of our #BethungraRovers. Firstly to Matt on achieving the Rover Service Award. ... And to Nick G for his Special Service for his work at Branch. Congratulations to everyone else who received awards today, including our BOFIAn's!

12.01.2022 This week our very own Max organised and led #BethungraRovers in a role play game inspired by DnD! Two heroes battled it out to the last one standing! #RoversDoStuff #DangerousWhenBored #rpg Want to know more about the two heroes? Click on their pictures to view their bios!

10.01.2022 Last Friday #BethungraRovers got their nails, hammers, and compound saws out for an #environmental project of making bird boxes. Each Rover made and took a box home to finish it off. We were also joined by a Rover from Sir Dallas Brooks Rover Crew staying in Canberra. One day we hope to see the beautiful Crimson Rosella finding shelter in these boxes. #DangerousWhenBored #BirdBoxButNotTheShow #CreateABetterWorld #woodwork... Want to build one yourself? Here are the instructions we used (Crimson Rosella): https://www.birdsinbackyards.net/Nest-Box-Plans-0

10.01.2022 This month has to be our best one so far! SMASH Like and Share this with all your friends! Lots of great reports and trick shots.

08.01.2022 This week #BethungraRovers took part in #NRW2020 by looking up at the sky and learning Indigenous stories about the sky and the local area. We held a Scouts Own, giving an opportunity to reflect on ongoing social issues not just in Australia, but around the world. #InThisTogether2020 #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff

05.01.2022 Did somebody say #camping? Well, that's what #BethungraRovers did over the long weekend. Here's a small collection of photos of what we got up to. On Saturday morning, after a flooded engine the Rovers set off on a brisk day #hike starting at Kambah Pool, and finishing at Camp Cottermouth. With #geocaches along the way, they finished early completing around 12km in just over 3 hours with some water to spare. They were soon joined by other members of the Unit for the camp in t...ime for some delicious spaghetti bolognaise. The following day we said hi to the Pioneering Team as they were building a bridge across the river! We were even invited to help tension the lines! Thanks Pioneering Team! With a chilly swim to end the day the rest of the weekend was spent talking and playing games. We ended the camp with a reflection and review at a special location at Camp Cottermouth. #RoversDoStuff #Outdoors #Bushwalking

05.01.2022 On Sunday some members from #BethungraRovers went on a 15km day hike from Hall to Mulligans Flat. We got a bit wet at the top of One Tree Hill but the weather cleared up in the end. We are lucky to be able to get out and enjoy this great hike!

04.01.2022 Every now and then #BethungraRovers like to get #Creative and have deep discussions about the weird world around us and historical events. Last night we dived into another discussion of a conspiracy theory. This time it was the assassination of JFK. Thanks again to Kirsten as always for the dedication she puts into her research. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff #IAmTotallyNotCrazyWhatOnEarthAreYouTalkingAboutThatIsAbsoluteNonense

04.01.2022 #BethungraRovers explored the art of folding paper, #origami! From chatter boxes to the crane, it proved a challenge getting the folds neat and correct. We had short business meeting beforehand to discuss #Scouting going back #facetoface. We are very keen and excited for activities to resume with restrictions in place and we are exploring how we will operate after the 1st June. #DangerousWhenBored #RoversDoStuff #ScoutingAHome #Online #StayHomeSavesLives
