13.01.2022 State funding for Queensland disability advocacy services runs out on 30 June 2021. This includes funding for QDN’s systemic advocacy work, as well as funding f...or independent and citizen advocacy organisations right across the state from Cairns to the Gold Coast. We need a commitment from the state government to keep these services running, but so far we haven’t been able to secure a guarantee. That’s why we’ve joined forces with 14 independent individual, citizen and systemic disability advocacy organisations to form the Queensland Disability Advocacy Alliance to launch a campaign calling on all Queenslanders to Stand with us! and show your support for independent disability advocacy. We need your support to keep Queensland independent advocacy services open. Click this link to join our campaign today: www.standwithus.com.au/take-action There has never been a more important time for the voices of people with disability to be heard, particularly after the disturbing reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation we’ve heard at the Disability Royal Commission. Independent advocacy assists people with disability to protect their rights, including accessing quality services and working to make systemic changes to create fairer laws and policies. Independent individual, citizen and systemic disability advocacy is critical to making our communities more inclusive and without it, many of the 900,000 Queenslanders with disability would be left behind and silenced. #StandWithUs #disability
