07.01.2022 This is a section of an interview with Aunty Hope O'Chin about "living under the Act" I personally usually have mixed feelings in this week. Remembering the st...ruggles our people faced, the past Government Policy impacting on the day to day lives of the First Nations Peoples of Australia. I try to remember and give honour to the people’s strength and resilience of the people in that time. remembering the past yes, but me.hoping for the future. That is why we can never stop talking about the past, and remembering the pain and hardships our people endured, so that we as a Nation, can never let this happen again. Reflecting and remembering, not in hate, but in hope. Hope for the future, ensuring that the struggles of our Elders, leaders and our Mothers and Fathers will not be in vain. I will remember them. Look, Australia’s had fires before, we’ve had hail before, we’ve had floods before, we’ve had unbreathable air before, we’ve had smoke that reaches New Zealand before, we’ve had Sydney’s water catchment dry up before, we’ve had tornadoes on the Northern Beaches before, we’ve had crocodiles escaping Australia zoo before, we’ve had Kangaroos hopping around Canberra in snow while the city simultaneously burned before, we’ve had coral bleaching while the Artic frost melts before. It’s all normal. If anything, the only thing abnormal about all this is the huge amounts of greenies going around starting floods, which we will be responding to immediately by lowering taxes for coal miners. Problem solved.
