14.01.2022 We have been getting lots of cancellations across all of our Gold Coast and Queenstown properties, although we've also received new bookings and enquiries from Australians looking to stay local instead of travelling overseas. We've increased our long stay discounts and have been getting quite a few bookings. Here's Airbnb's latest release https://news.airbnb.com/extenuating-circumstances-policy-a/ They are applying an extenuating circumstances policy - any booking made befor...e 14 Mar, with check in between 14 Mar to 14 Apr will have free cancellations. New bookings are not covered. They are working on tools etc to support as they know the cancellations will hurt hosts but nothing can be done and they need to protect the community during these times. In the meantime, we're honouring cancellations and also following up on all enquiries to secure bookings as much as possible and keeping our property owners fully informed during this unsettling time.

10.01.2022 This is nowhere near the Gold Coast but it’s where I started managing Airbnb’s (remotely) nearly 2 years ago - beautiful Queenstown! Covid decimated the short term rental market this year, all of the Airbnb properties I used to manage are either sold or rented long term now. 90% of our guests were international. Hopefully the local tourism industry will have a strong end to the year with local travel while they wait for international visitors to be allowed back. ... Can’t wait to visit my Queenstown family hopefully next year @vicecreamnz

While we have always had strict hygiene practices and cleanliness standards, we have implemented additional measures. Currently, our professional housekeeping team are using a hospital-grade disinfectant on all hard surfaces, including benchtops, tabletops, workspaces, and cupboard doors, as well as on frequently touched areas like shelves, handles, seats, light switches, remotes, t...oilets, and sinks. When it comes to linen, we continue to operate our normal service - after every checkout, our bed linen and towels are professionally laundered offsite. This service meets rigorous hospitality standards and the highest cleaning standards possible. - ? Housekeepers have been advised and supplied with disposable gloves to use when cleaning, and have been further advised to apply hand sanitizer before and after wearing gloves. Housekeepers are using hospital-grade disinfectant to clean all hard surfaces, such as benchtops, tabletops, workspaces, and cupboard doors, in addition to all high touch areas like shelving, handles, seating, light switches, remotes, toilets, and sinks. Drivers have been advised and supplied with disposable gloves and hand sanitizer to be used when handling linen and entering properties.
