24.01.2022 I suppose I have put this conversation off for as long as I can I loved this scene from Bridgerton. I know they were referring to the acts of the marital bed but it would have gone the same for her courses or when she was bleeding. I find these period shows so interesting. The women always educated minimally and only when very necessary. Yet the men educated early and in an actual physical manner. ... Have times changed all that much?? Are we still leaving it to the last point possible to educate our daughters? There is another way. A way that normalises and empowers our girls. Learning in my workshops is a great way as an example. 11.01.2022 As parents, it is our responsibility to follow these conversations up in our own homes. We cannot rely just on schools to have these conversations, although they absolutely need to, and the conversations need to be much better. If you don't know what is going on within schools and with our teens, it's time to be educated, so we can ensure our children (especially daughters) don't ever have to go through these traumatic experiences. This is confronting, but the more we know, the better we can do. For our daughters protection, we cannot put our head in the sand and pretend this doesn't happen. This is why it's so important to be able to have the initial awkward conversations around periods and puberty. Because these much bigger conversations need to come soon after.

04.01.2022 Period questions! It can sometimes be hard for our girls to ask questions, just as it can be hard for us to bring up conversations. I am always interested at the questions that are asked in the workshops. There is always something different, and often things I haven’t expected. It shows just how much our girls are thinking about periods, body changes and concerns they have. They may not ever feel comfortable to ask if a conversation has not been encouraged to flow.
