13.01.2022 Jamine is one of our amazing occupational therapists. She is energetic, professional, and passionate about working with children and families. Find out more about Jamine below - Describe your job in three words. Creative, supportive, empowering. What do you enjoy about the work you do? I think the most humbling and rewarding part of being an OT who works with kids and their families is supporting them as they work towards creating their "best life". I love that no two "bes...t lives" look the same, and that no two children will need the same kinds of supports to achieve that. Having a child diagnosed with any level of disability or delay often comes with parents being told a bunch of "no's" about what their child's life will look like. I believe OT can be a space where parents and kids are supported to dream up a big dream, one that is inclusive of their specific physical and cognitive composition, the picture of their "best life". So whether it's working around supportive equipment, motor development, social skills, self care, family meal times, or even school participation, I love being able to come alongside parents and kids to dream up those big picture goals and support them as they take the small steps every day to work towards that. What is your biggest professional or personal accomplishment? Something I've been very proud of over the last few years personally was adopting and training my rescue dog, Lewie. After a couple of years of work together he is now a happy and excited boy who is well on his way to being a therapy dog! Where’s your favourite place in the world? I've managed to cross some pretty remarkable places off my travel bucket list and yet, my favourite place in the world is still Moffat Beach in Caloundra. Name something on your bucket list. I want to learn how to sail. Tell us a random fun fact about you. I love to ride horses. What's the best thing about working at Beyond Words Therapy Centre? The people! ...and the views on the drive into work! See more

This was a huge challenge and steep learning curve, and through this I gained invaluable skills working flexibly, not shying away from the tough stuff, utilising the other allied health on my team, always learning and seeking support when I needed it. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about? Everyone is always impressed that I can write and draw upside down - but I think this is a common speechie trait! Where’s your favourite place in the world? I live on acreage and sitting on my back verandah with a nice sunset, listening to the birds sing is pretty amazing! Name something on your bucket list.
