24.01.2022 Patterns are everywhere...and the kids at Extend vacation care enjoyed finding that out! At St Augustine's Primary School we made spirals, circles and branching patterns, culminating in this wonderful 'drip tree' art. Beingreen permaculture loves to brighten up holiday care.

22.01.2022 Read read read...offgrid living online with the Offgrid Living Festival!!! We managed to squeeze in a festival earlier this year, and now the virtual version is available to read for free online. (Donations welcome!) Beingreen permaculture is featured, with an article on the origins and purpose of permaculture. http://offgridlivingfestival.com.au/offgridmagazine/

21.01.2022 Keen to farm worms? Here's an easy way to produce worm tea and castings. The farm is made from recycled materials that can fit in the smallest space. ... Build one now and have fertiliser ready for your spring garden! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrKfF-nT6TI

21.01.2022 Ironically, amidst a fear for disease and a huge increase in sterilisation and sanitisation, the 'dirt' in our yards and neighbourhoods has increased our well being and contributed, I hope, to better health and knowledge and respect for the natural world in all its complexity and wildness.

18.01.2022 We are out and about again this month at The Sustainable Living Fair. It is managed this year by the amazing Kate Nottingham of the OffGrid Living Festival, so set to be a cracker. Come to chat to us about all things permaculture or grab some worm juice or biochar for your patch. We also have some attractive and wonderfully functional new wicking bed boxes on display to order. Check them out.... Maybe even get your name down to have a go at building your own wicking bed.......... See you there.

18.01.2022 Do you know which plant this is? Do you know which common pharmaceutical it can replace? Come along to find out at our Wonderful weeds Walk and Talk this Saturday at 2.30pm. Go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/916188139307996?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22surface%22%3A%22page%22%7D]%7D

18.01.2022 Propagating square plants! Prickly pear (Opuntia) cuttings taken from a 'paddle' from a parent plant. Cut and the edges dried to form a callus, then dipped in honey and set in a well drained potting mix. Considered a weed in some states, this attractive architectural cactus can be used as an intruder plant and most importantly as a source of food! The paddles and flowers are edible. A staple in Central and South American cooking. Just goes to show how many food sources are growing prolifically....if you know what is what!

17.01.2022 It's on again! This very popular workshop is on again during the Sustainable Living Fair. Practical advice to get out this summer to grow your own food...

17.01.2022 Here's your chance to read the book! David Holmgren's permaculture guide to downshifting at your place: "Retrosuburbia" is the homesteader's bible for Doing It Ourselves. For a short time this online version is "pay what you can" so you can use your lockdown to uplift your life!!

16.01.2022 When we look at our yards some of us get annoyed at the weeds we see, but should we? Natasha Stafford, who has a permaculture business in Albury, does not think... so, she says weeds have various benefits and can tell you a lot about soil conditions and the climate. Amongst other things she said dandelion weeds can help aerate the soil, and like other weeds including capeweed, can provide important nutrients to the soil and other plants. Ms Stafford, pictured with the ribwort weed, said this weed also known as plantain, can be used to stop minor wounds from bleeding. Do you use weeds to your benefit? Let us know below?

14.01.2022 Beingreen permaculture now has moving pictures!! Follow this link to see our very first video - Make Your Own Wicking Bed from repurposed materials. We are keen to help people to start gardens right now - without special skills or a lot of time and for (almost) no cost. https://youtu.be/6yTR9IV18ys

12.01.2022 Weeds are wonderful! They are a source of nutrition and medicine, and tell us about climate, land use and soil condition. 08.01.2022 What a week! The Sustainability Festival in Albury Wodonga was wonderful this year and beingreen permaculture had it's busiest week ever. Our sessions were focussed on growing using recycled materials and eating what would otherwise be poisoned or thrown away. We made wicking beds onsite at the fair on Saturday and talked weeds and all their uses on Sunday. Then it was all about your vegie patch on Monday and a final make and take workshop on wicking beds to round off the festival on Friday evening. Thanks to all who attended, and good luck with your growing this summer!!

07.01.2022 Beingreen permaculture can help make your vegie patch dreams come true. This winter we are offering a "Vegie Patch Visit" service. We will visit you (within social distancing guidelines) and assess your property to design a patch. We will give you a hard copy design with where, what and when to grow veg at your place. Soil improvement, composting, weed identification and moon planting guide included. See 'Services' page for more information.

06.01.2022 Plants we find in the wrong place...or plants with no perceived value? Think again! These hardy survivors have much to teach us, and feed us. Come along to find out...... Workshop held in conjunction with the Albury/Wodonga Sustainable Living Festival.

06.01.2022 Beingreen permaculture are very proud to be part of this event this year. We are offering the popular Little Poppets Pattern workshop where little kids can have a hands on experience of pattern.....through observation, movement, water and art.

03.01.2022 It may be very hot here...... But this wicking bed thrives on only ONE watering per week. A well in the base of the box holds water which wicks through the soil, giving the plants even and consistent moisture. We make these boxes of recycled materials. Our boxes will be on show at our next stall. Watch this space for the next date!

02.01.2022 Come to try hands on sustainable craft and growing ideas at the Youth Lead Sustainable Living Festival on SATURDAY 6TH NOVEMBER. Beingreen permaculture will be there - try an activity or chat to us about the services we provide. https://alburywodonga.gov.au//youth-sustainable-living-fes
