It took me a few moments to figure out what to do with this buzzer. And if your website or direct email marketing or any part of the process your customers go through to do business with you is anything like what you see in this picture (unnecessarily complex, confusing and time consuming), you’re miss...ing out on opportunities to build a connection with customers who decide you’re just too hard to do business with. Where could you make improvements or reduce friction for your customers? A P-plater searches online to find someone to conduct a roadworthy on his first car. A public servant who needs a plumber to install a new vanity in her newly renovated bathroom opens up her browser and types ‘Townsville plumber’ to get quotes. And so on. This kind of consumer behaviour, which was once just for a few of us, is now the norm. And there will soon come a time when, if you’re not online, if you don’t have a website where people can learn about you and your business, you will not be found. A good website is not an expense. Besides talking about the vision they had for their presence online, we also had a small chat about some of the work they’d been doing behind the scenes so they could relaunch a business they’d just taken over and make it their own.
