25.01.2022 And now for something completely different..... The Labrador is a drug sniffing dog-in-training, and we were treated to a live demo of the dog searching for drugs. He found them. The other is a pure breed German Shepard attack dog, he played with us and had fun getting pats and cuddles from us at Miena Control. ... Thanks to the Tas Police officer showing us the dogs and telling us all about the 2 roles they play in the police force.

20.01.2022 We would like to thank all those who donated cars so we can get our members assessments for road crash rescue capabilities completed.

20.01.2022 We are looking for cars to use for members to be assessed in their road crash rescue capabilities. Don't need to be going or complete and SES can remove them from your property for free. Please contact Robert Glover on 0428783232.

14.01.2022 Strong north-westerly winds are expected across Tasmania throughout tonight and during tomorrow with average wind speeds of 60-70km/h and peak gusts of 110...-120km/h. To prepare for the strong winds, we ask that people tie down and secure any loose items including outdoor furniture and play equipment. Winds of this speed can pick up and carry items like trampolines and can blow trees and power lines onto roads. With the ground at saturation point following winter rains, it is more likely that trees are unstable and the likelihood of them being blown over in strong winds is increased. SES advises that people should do the following to prepare for strong winds: Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment (trampolines are a frequent issue in high winds) Beware of fallen trees and power lines Take care when driving Be prepared in case of power outages and report outages to TasNetworks on 132 004 Keep up to date with the latest weather warnings at www.bom.gov.au/tas Visit www.ses.tas.gov.au for further preparation advice For emergency assistance in a flood or storm contact the SES on 132 500 For assistance in a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero

10.01.2022 The State Emergency Service is preparing for flooding in streams and rivers due to a likely rain event in the coming days. SES will have units on standby across... the state ready to assist those affected by potential flooding events. Flooding in nearby streams and rivers is likely during the next few days due to the forecast rain event and some low lying properties may become isolated by flood waters. Flood waters are full of hidden dangers and we urge people not to drive or walk through floodwaters. People should prepare themselves by moving livestock and equipment to higher ground if possible. For information about the weather forecast visit www.bom.gov.au/tas For information about what to do in a flood visit www.ses.tas.gov.au
