25.01.2022 So its exciting that the next phase of the MTBA national champs is announced - Maydena, Tasmania. Those Taswegians have all the secret training time right now but with luck us viral Victorians will get it together and boarders can open. We have just spoken to the Spirit of Tasmania and if you are making a booking now, should at the time of your booking the boarders not be open you get a full refund minus any booking and credit card fees.... https://www.mtba.org.au//tasmania-two-year-championship-/

24.01.2022 The Australian Government announcement on Friday of changes to the Stage 3 rollback of restrictions means we may have racing (almost) as usual alot sooner than any of us thought. But not quite yet! With some hygiene changes and registration of spectators as well as starting in smaller groups we should be meeting the requirements but before we can set any dates we first will need Victoria to actually get to Stage 3 easing of restrictions and for now there is no date for that. And once we have a date for that, the next catch is going to be finding some all weather venues and event ideas to suit them. Right off to the think tank!

24.01.2022 Its with great pleasure that we are starting to launch our 2021 Events. You can now enter Rounds 1 and 2 of the Shifty Fifty Series, The brand new G50 Outer Wombat 50km Gravel event and the Inaugural (4th time lucky) Hux at Bux Flowduro Looking forward to a great 2021 of events with Big Hill Events... 23.01.2022 Have you ridden Yackandandah mtb trails? How about to Stanley and back via Gravel. It's pretty darn good here!

23.01.2022 If you are looking for the event venue this weekend we are just north of Forrest by 2kms. Forrest 6hr MTB Pit Lane Tiger Loop, Forrest VIC 3236, Australia https://maps.app.goo.gl/Q5qrQFoWpAiYhcbz5

23.01.2022 Remember we were working on a G50 Gravel series before the world ended. Well on the weekend we took a look at some of the Gravel Yack course. Little bit of tweaking needed but its pretty stunning! https://www.strava.com/activities/3719980287

23.01.2022 We don't suggest you watch many things on Facebook, but this is a GEM. Can almost feel the trails. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vcBn04IyELc

21.01.2022 Do we dare to dream???? Before all the proverbial shit hit the fan, AKA COVID19 we were working with the Beechworth Gravelmob to be the first in a new series idea for 50km Gravel ride / races. The idea being that we would host a Shifty Fifty one day and a G50 Gravel event on the other day of a weekend. ... We of course now have no idea when but do we dare to dream of it being soon????? #G50 #Dirtyyak

21.01.2022 For our Runners out there.

20.01.2022 The indication that in easing restrictions we wont be limited to 100 participants on one hand is great. On the other hand, it kind of kills the need for this new event idea!

20.01.2022 I've sat locked in my house for 3 days now pondering any place I had been, who I had been with and was I careful enough. Thankfully I am OK and I can go back to... Um that's right being at home and not planning events. But hey, reminder people: Stay safe and wear a mask if you are out. PS. Did you know that an upset stomach could be a sign. I didn't... #Thisisreal #masksforall #staysafe #sanitize

19.01.2022 We love sharing the news of great events from our fellow event operators. Having to pull the pin just a week before the inaugural event must have been heart breaking but the focus is solidly on next year. We hear that very soon entries will open for some additional spots for next year and there is trail news in the area as well of even better (how is it possible) and new trails in the courses. so stay afloat of this one team. BHE director Rohin Adams is not missing this for anything!

18.01.2022 People tell us they like cheaper racing. So all our Big Hill Events races have stepped entry pricing structure. The earlier you enter the more money you save. So Enter before end of this Sunday and its only $70.

16.01.2022 Not at all bad here in Tassie. Just rode Blue tier to Bay of Fire's trail. It's going to be part of Day 2 in the Dragon Trail on March. Here is my review

15.01.2022 This may be the worst quality footage of a mtb trail you ever watch. So, you're welcome. Ha ha Sir Jax Pumps Alot at Dinner Plain

15.01.2022 We are sharing this with absolutely NO opinion. It is up to all of you to work out what "Satisfying your exercise requirements" is and just what you define as your local area. Stay safe, Stay clean

14.01.2022 A trail review at Dinner Plain on my Specialized Stumpjumper 140 bike. Worth a visit if you are in the area or passing through as I was. Oh and best trail is Sir Jack Pumps alot. I said that wrong.

13.01.2022 Saw this post in the Colorado mountain bike group page and am still laughing. Have a great weekend of riding everybody

13.01.2022 Round 1 is now just a bit over 1 month away but have you thought about our other rounds? Each location brings a different great riding experience and a chance to challenge yourself and stay motivated. We hope to see you there.

12.01.2022 Need Masks? This friend of the cycling community has been sewing up a storm and has stock again ready to post out. Local and hand made. Win Win Face masks are washable and reuseable, and made with three layers of fabric. Adjustable elastic loops fit over the ears, and flexible wire helps the mask conform to your nose. Look stylish while also following government recommendations to wear face masks when in situations where physical distancing may not be possible.... There are a heap of designs available on my website: www.ekajhandmade.com Stay safe, and #stayhome

11.01.2022 So it's 2 weeks until the Otway Odyssey MTB Marathon- Apollo Bay and Great Otway Gravel events meaning it's probably too late to get any fitter or stronger. But there are some things you can do to make a big difference on race day. About a year ago Big Hill Events Director Rohin Adams caught up with Hamish Oniel of Long and Winding to talk about Nutrition for his preparation. ... The biggest take out you can get from this is how to pre-hydrate for a big ride. It's really really important and it's NOT about drinking lots of water. Part1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6Z0w9UPAI Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6Z0w9UPAI Rapid Ascent have been running this event for 15 years and we love it. Not many marathons around these days so stoked to have this one on the Victoria Calendar.

11.01.2022 Nowa Nowa MTB park.... Umm, sure if you are driving through.. Here is my review after riding it.

10.01.2022 For all of us in the Lock down areas Masks from Wednesday will be compulsory. However when riding the commonsense approach would indicate you wont need to wear it. Maybe worth carrying one to wear if you stop for a chat. As always stay safe and stay clean and with luck we can get some racing happening in a few months.

09.01.2022 It does not feel like we are going to have events in Victoria in August.

08.01.2022 Here’s a little sneak peak at the profiles for all three Hux at Bux stages. This event is is 50% sold out and numbers are strictly capped, so get in now to avoid disappointment. ENTRIES: https://bighillevents.com.au/huxatbux/

07.01.2022 In the off chance you see these

07.01.2022 With the weather heating up and Stage 4 lockdown still in place the DHHS has clarified the difference between a Mid Ride Snack and a PICNIC. A Picnic is very much not allowed under the rules. However for your health and those of your household or the chosen +1 from another house you are riding with its important to remember to hydrate and stay fuelled. The safest place to take your Mid Ride Snack is away from the bike path or road you were on so as to keep to social distan...cing rules. A nice patch of grass is often best. And as we are in the shoulder season and the ground may be damp that blanket you were carrying in case of sudden storms also makes the perfect ground protection. So to recap. Its a no to picnics but a solid YES to a Mid Ride Snack. Enjoy! See more

07.01.2022 How is your list looking for the next 6 weeks??

04.01.2022 Something to look forward too

03.01.2022 Another good news story made by trails. https://www.abc.net.au//mountain-biking-track-re/12440526

02.01.2022 Riding the Shifty Fifty on 6 March at Wombat? Make a weekend of it with the Outer Wombat Gravel Grind!

02.01.2022 Lysterfield trails are now closed due to their condition. We thought this image we saw on our feed sums it up pretty well. Nothing wrong with a few good gravel grinds on your MTB until things dry out a bit.

01.01.2022 Another Day in Tasmania and another cracking Bike park! Today I rode at St Helens on the Dreaming Pool's loop. STUNNING. JUST STUNNING

01.01.2022 Are you looking for some long lasting and super comfortable cycling knicks? Rohin Adams, BHE director has been working with Nemesis Cycling Apparel for his next purchase of knicks. Given his last Nemesis ones lasted 5yrs + he thought that some of you may want something that good too. Nemesis is a custom cycling clothing company so this is a pre order. Worth every cent and then some. There is also a women's specific model with rear clip.... https://www.entryzone.com.au/index.php
