24.01.2022 The Cahill Expressway shows the exceptional privilege bestowed to cars over even the most beautiful parts of our public domain. (Consider also the monstrous aesthetic and effect of the Western Distributor.) It should be a reminder that such "grade-separation" should rather be deployed first for the benefit of waking, cycling and place-making first. Time to prioritise projects that elevate spirits not vehicles.

24.01.2022 Despite hearsay, the evidence is that the Henderson Rd cycleway has not reduced the performance of the intersection outside Erskineville Stn. This is peak hour last Friday evening

21.01.2022 We've called for this reform for almost 10 years now. Give us a budget and a mandate. And watch quality of life rise for everyone. https://www.theguardian.com//residents-to-get-new-decision

21.01.2022 Councillor Jess Miller addresses criticism of governments having acted too quickly in deploying popup cycleways. It's terrific to see it includes recognition that the road corridor (incl footpaths and cycleways) is a space *of the commons* (ie. there is NO specific entitlement of the use kerbside in front of your house - less so for storing your personal belongings). This principle should be enshrined in legislation and city policies. It shouldn't have to be explained and justified. Transport for NSW, doing so would be one of THE best contributions you could make to re-adapt the city for the new challenges of dealing with COVID.

20.01.2022 No. Recruiting residents to attack cycleways is a stale, stale political tactic. Let's elevate the discussion about the role of cycling. 1. Cycling's value proposition is clearly net positive. The response of other world cities shows this clearly. 2. The discussion be an adult one. Leaders and Commentators comment on ALL impacts and benefits, not a single issue. ... 3. Outcomes and solutions focused. "Business as Usual" just. will. not. cut it in COVID times. If not cycleways, what's your alternative to getting people to work given social distancing constraints?; 4. Evidence and the WHOLE story. For example, what of the existing ON-SITE parking that residents on Moore Park Rd have? Or, of the swift response of Transport for NSW to re-allocate kerbside parking entitlements on Moore Park Rd in response to the residents' special case needs? Or the hearsay from certain political actors to frenzy local residents into believing the Henderson Road Cycleway would lead to "mass loss of parking" ... which was never the case. In fact, as shown on this page last week, there is now MORE opportunity for locals to park, given the reduction in demand from out-of-area drivers. "facts" 5. Those in the cycling advocacy space. Lead, don't react. Sydney has quickly moved past the olde guarde thinking and tactics purveyed by Alan Jones, Murdoch (dwindling sales), the RMS (disbanded), pointedly "anti-cyclist" politicians. The wind is now at our back.

19.01.2022 It's terrific that streets of new inner city developments are being designed "slow" (narrow, short, peripheral, no line markings). It prioritises people over vehicles. Go Erko. And thanks City of Sydney.

17.01.2022 Enshrine the 30km/h limit into law Reconstitute council "Traffic" committees - give a vote to the active transport Representative Councils to given real control of local roads TfNSW's long-touted "Movement and Place" policy to made a real thing

15.01.2022 What if we designed transport systems with the user experience as a key design criterion?...

15.01.2022 Henderson Road Cycleway ...and the new traffic lights activate *automatically* for riders. A few feathers ruffled, but kudos to all that have enabled this big "boring" development in traffic signal planning :)

03.01.2022 Have a look at the crazy detour being proposed for cyclists and pedestrians who need to get over the City West Link at Victoria Rd once the Beatrice Bush pedest...rian bridge is demolished this week for WestConnex. These detour add almost a kilometre and forces cyclists and pedestrians risk their own lives by competing with heavy road traffic. This is what it looks like when governments prioritise cars and tollways over people. Please share to let your neighbours know.

02.01.2022 Remember how just last week, prior to its opening, the Henderson Rd Cycleway was going to make it "impossible to park my car"?... Thanks to the traffic management associated with the implementation, residents are now enjoying quieter, safer, calmer streets. And MORE car parking. (The changes have lessened the DEMAND for those spaces). 02.01.2022 It's happening. Streets re-imagined as Piazzas - places to meet. Cars as guests.
