25.01.2022 T5 & T56 Short Gear Shifter. As many of you will know, we already produce a machined gear shifter (knob and shaft) to suit the T5 and T56 gearboxes (Holden VN to VZ and others), as a one-piece unit and at the same height as the original. These have been made as a bolt-in item, with only two bolts to remove and refit. As a result of many customer requests, we are now also making this same gear shifter in a short version. 1" shorter than original oem. As with the standard he...ight version, this also has a 'lip' to secure the gear boot around. Both versions are the same price at $125. Billet Works. P.S. This is one of those rare times where having a short knob & shaft is a good thing. Ahem.

25.01.2022 Racing steering wheel hub for the Ford FG Falcon. Now available to order is our billet steering wheel boss kit for the Ford FG Falcon. This will allow you to fit a 6 hole sports wheel of either 70mm or 74mm PCD. This is the answer for those who need to remove the factory airbag steering wheel to fit an aftermarket sports or racing wheel, as many classes of racing don't allow airbags to remain fitted. $245.00... Standard Disclaimer: This is for off-road or racing purposes only as it's illegal to remove the airbag from a street driven car.

25.01.2022 This is a custom order we recently completed. Twin warning lights in a billet aluminium housing with billet mounting towers. The mounting towers have a radius machined into the base to match the diameter of the steering column. Both lights will be mounted on top of the steering column so they can be seen at a glance. Each unit is separate to each other but we understand they will be mounted in the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock position. The wiring is hidden away inside the brai...ded stainless sleeve to finish it off. These will look great when they are installed.

25.01.2022 Here we have a column we built for a customer's project. The vehicle is a XL Falcon, which has had the steering box and column from a XF Falcon put in. The original XL steering box is a one-piece unit and the entire steering shaft is all part of it. The XF steering box on the other hand has a flange connection straight at the end of the box. The customer wanted to replace the daggy XF column with one of ours, so we took to the machines and started making a column and custom breakaway bracket. The column was to have the normal complement of gear in it, namely self-cancelling indicators, collapsible shaft and body, hazards, horn, a hub to suit a 6 hole sports wheel and full ADR compliance. This is the result.

24.01.2022 Universal Collapsible Steering Columns now available for order. Lengths from 24" to 40" !!!!! These columns are fully machined from billet aluminium and are the latest model in our lineup. These are fully collapsible (ADR-10 compliant), have self-cancelling indicators, stainless steel stalk with a machined stalk knob, hazard lights button, horn connectivity, double sealed roller bearings, a 4140 high tensile centre shaft and a 3/4"DD output shaft. All with a polished or lini...shed finish. The main tube has been left bare, ready for your own column drop or dash clamp to be fitted, depending on your project. 6 or 9 hole hubs are available separately, or we can manufacture a more specific hub to suit your steering wheel needs. Please note an Auto Electrician will be needed to wire it up once the column is installed in the car. Production lead times are approximately 6 weeks from order. As with all of our columns, these are made right here in our factory in Western Australia. Lengths 24" to 30" - $1035 Lengths 31" to 40" - $1095 To order, send us a message or give us a call on (08) 6142-5590.

24.01.2022 Custom column build for a kit car. We were asked by a local Design & Technology college to design and manufacture a collapsible column for their own project vehicle that they are building. We designed a column to fit with their general space, fitment and length requirements and it was recently put into production.... This column was fully machined from billet 6061 T6 aluminium and it has our usual complement of internal goodies including a precision ground high tensile steel centre shaft with upper and lower sealed roller bearings, self cancelling indicators, 6 hole hub to suit an aftermarket sports wheel, and a collapsible lower. Because the column will be painted by the D&T college themselves as a part of their program, we gave the column a linished finish instead of the normal polished finish, making it prep & paint ready. This is their new column

23.01.2022 Billet Steering Column for HD & HR Holden. We recently completed this collapsible column build for for a customer with a HD Holden. In addition, our customer also wanted to be able to fit their original steering wheel to the column, while still maintaining horn function and correct indicator cancellation. To achieve this, a number of column components were machined to a different size to suit the original wheel. A small modification was also needed to be made to the back o...f the wheel so it could interface with the switch-gear in the column. A lower column support bracket was also made to be used in conjunction with the original firewall plate, for a solid lower footing. No extra holes need to be made in the car as this bracket utilises the existing holes in the firewall and firewall plate alike. As with all of our columns, this was fully machined from 6061 T6 aluminium, assembled with our normal complement of high quality materials and internal components, including stainless steel stalk and machined indicator knob, double sealed roller bearings and a machined and ground 4140 high tensile steel centre shaft with an output to directly suit a universal joint. Finally, the column received a beautifully polished finish making it a thing of beauty and the customer's steering wheel fits perfectly. For more information on the available build options on our column for the HD & HR Holden, or to place an order for your own column, please visit our website. 23.01.2022 Did you know that we regularly make custom boss kits for just about any application? Whether it be a Falcon, Commodore, Early Holden or Chev, Toyota Land Cruiser or something more exotic, we can help in most cases. Pictured is a boss kit we made recently to mount a 6 hole sports wheel onto a HJ Holden. Fully machined and polished, it looks fantastic. We've made just about every combination to suit a 9 hole billet style wheel too. So no matter what aftermarket wheel you're trying to fit, to whatever vehicle or project you have, finish it off with one of our boss kits!

23.01.2022 We're regularly making steering wheel hubs for aftermarket wheels to fit to a range of vehicles. Here are some recent ones, all machined from billet aluminium. A black hub for a Ford FG Falcon (a racecar so no airbag required) to fit a 6 hole sports wheel. A polished hub for a VR & VS Commodore fitting a 9 hole billet wheel, and a polished hub for a BA & BF Falcon showcar (no airbag) to fit a 9 hole wheel.

23.01.2022 A happy customer sent us photos of his new Billet Works Steering Column that we built for his awesome looking project Mustang. The column was collapsible, clear anodised, made to suit a 9 hole wheel and made to mate up to his original steering box. These pictures were taken after a test fit to make sure everything was spot on. Perfection. BW.

22.01.2022 1963 Ford F100 with rack & pinion. Here's a newly finished collapsible billet column we built for the popular 1960's F100. The customer had an original wheel refurbished and pearled and wanted to fit that onto the column. As with some other builds that incorporate an original wheel, different internal switchgear was used so that indicator cancelling and horn function worked properly.... The column housings and tubes were machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminium and designed to suit the original mounts for ease of installation as well as machining the a 3/4"DD profile on the output shaft to match the uni-joint on the intermediate shaft for the pinion. There are lots of other variations of this column to suit other F100 set ups and we can customise builds further to suit more specific requirements. Get in touch with us if we can help you with your F100. BW.

21.01.2022 Every day we receive many customer enquiries on our range of billet steering columns, with respect to either a particular vehicle model or a column custom built to suit the their project and the various features required on the column. We naturally welcome these enquiries and are always very willing to help incorporate a combination of good ideas into the build. Its not possible though to photograph every column that we complete, showing the various options, but here's a lis...t of the columns we build regularly at this stage, and available options. Please note all columns are collapsible and satisfy ADR10 requirements HOLDENS: FX, FJ, FE, FC, FB, EK, EJ, EH, HD, HR, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB, HK, HT and HG. TORANAS: LC ,LJ, LH, LX and UC. FORDS: XL, XM, XP, XR, XT, XW, XY, XA, XB and F100 CHEVROLET: Tri Five, Impala Other Models: MORRIS MINI, COBRAS, T BUCKETS, RAT RODS, HOT RODS, OFF ROAD VEHICLES. In addition to the above, we also regularly build one-off customs to suit the weird and wonderful. Options: While self cancelling indicators and horn connection are standard across the column range, there are additional options that can be incorporated into the build. Unless already included in a standard build, options can include: Ignition switch, hazard lights switch, high and low beam toggle, windscreen wipers and washer control, push button start, shift light incorporation, engine warning lights incorporation, choice of 6 or 9 hole steering hub or original wheel fitment, column output shaft to suit rack & pinion or steering box. We are constantly upgrading our manufacturing processes and techniques as a part of a continual improvement of our product designs. For those interested, we are currently developing a STEERING LOCK AND COMBINED IGNITION SWITCH SYSTEM, VARIABLE TILT FOR RHD APPLICATIONS and RHD AUTO COLUMN SHIFT. These additions to our range will be announced as they finish our R&D process and become available to order. We look forward to any enquiry you may have concerning your column build, and remember all of our billet steering columns are 100% AUSTRALIAN MADE.

19.01.2022 We often have customers who are want a billet column built, but want something different than a polished finish. For those who are wanting to keep their interior understated and without any shiny bits, we can also give our columns a Satin Black finish. This finish is an upgrade option and is available to order on all of our column builds now. These photos are of one of our recently completed columns for a HZ Holden in Satin Black. This particular column also has fitted one... of our new Multifunction Stalk & Switch units (high & low beam, high beam flasher, 2 speed wiper & washer control. In other words, the Full Monty 2.0). This finish has a refined, super-schmick look that so many people are wanting for their interiors. While this doesn't have the 'in your face' look of our polished columns, it's dark and ominous instead. We love it. If you're looking for a column with less 'bling', then this is for you. BW. www.billetworks.com.au

18.01.2022 Valiant VC Column. We recently completed a column build for a customer with a modified VC Valiant. The original Valiant wheel was to be fitted and a shift light built in with its extended wiring incorporated into the body of the column, and finally anodised in black. The shift light body and bracket were machined from solid aluminium, and houses AutoMeter LED Quik-Lite internals. This column is collapsible and ADR compliant and will fit straight back into the car with only... wiring up required, but no further modifications needed. These photos were taken just prior to boxing up, so the indicator stalk and hazard button is absent (already packed), and tape on the wheel was used just to hold the horn in place for the camera. If you've been looking for a steering column solution for your Valiant, we can help.

16.01.2022 Here's one for our Ford Fans. We built a collapsible billet steering column to suit the iconic Ford XY Falcon with the requirement that a Ford GT steering wheel will bolt straight onto it, instead of a hub to fit an aftermarket wheel. Design and component changes are usually needed to accomplish this. The column was designed to fit the existing dash bracket and firewall plate with a flanged output shaft to bolt straight onto the factory rag-joint. Once built, polished and a...ssembled, the wheel cancelled the indicators and operated the horn perfectly. As with all of our columns, this was fully machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminium and features a fully collapsible design which satisfies ADR10 requirements, high tensile steel centre-shaft and sealed roller bearings. Most of our columns are built with a hub to suit an aftermarket wheel of some description, but in this case the original GT steering wheel coupled with our new polished column will look amazing in the car. We can't wait to see some installed photos. BW.

15.01.2022 Hi everyone. After many customer requests, we will be putting an album together showcasing customers' cars that have one of our Billet Works columns in it. If you have one of our billet columns installed in your pride and joy, and would like to have it included in our album, send us a private message and send your photos in the message. We will edit out any license plates or anything else identifiable.... Ideally, 2 photos. One of the outside of the vehicle, and another showing the interior with our steering column in the shot. Over to you guys. Cheers, BW.

14.01.2022 LC Torana Column !! We have had a lot of requests recently for a column to suit the LC Torana. We have since finished our design for this, and the very first one has just shipped out to a customer. The column is fully machined from billet aluminium with a polished finish (anodised finish optionally available) with self-cancelling indicators, hazard switch, horn contact, your choice of 6 or 9 hole hub (depending on your wheel choice). It also fits the standard Torana uni-joi...nt and dash mount, is supplied with its own firewall mount, is fully collapsible and is ADR compliant. As with all of our columns, there are no structural vehicle modifications required to install this into the car, however we recommend an auto-electrician wire it in for you. Our LC column is priced at $1295 and is available to order now. Approximate production lead-time is 8 weeks from order.

14.01.2022 FB-EK Holden Custom Build - Ignition and Hi-Low Beam. We recently completed a custom build for a customer who wanted a billet column to suit their EK Holden but with a few user friendly upgrades. Rather than staying with the original ignition key on the dash, the customer wanted an ignition barrel in the column itself. While this is not a problem, the internal dimensions of the column need to be changed to accommodate it.... The customer also wanted to do away with the headlight dipper-switch on the floor, so we used an upgraded switchgear to support high/low beam toggle at the stalk as well as a high-beam flasher function (pull to flash). A 9 hole hub was also made to suit the customer's wheel choice, 3/4"DD output shaft for mating to a uni-joint for the intermediate shaft to the rack & pinion and a lower column support bracket to integrate with the original firewall plate. The entire column was given a linished finish instead of being polished. As with all of our builds, this column had the usual compliment of a 4140 steel centre-shaft, collapsible design to satisfy ADR10 requirements, sealed roller bearings, stainless steel indicator stalk with a machined aluminium knob, serial numbered and an engineering certificate issued.

13.01.2022 EH & EJ Holden Billet Steering Columns. These are perfect when a rack and pinion steering has been fitted and you need to replace the column that came out of it (one-piece steering box and steering column were standard in these cars from the factory). Or if you are still using the original steering box (modification required), but need a collapsible steering column after an engine upgrade (licensing requirement), this is the ideal solution. ... Like all of our billet steering columns, these are fully machined, fully collapsible, fully ADR compliant, and look every bit as good in the flesh as they do in the pictures. Supplied with either a 6 hole or a 9 hole hub to suit aftermarket wheels, these columns will bolt straight in without any structural under dash modifications required, only an Auto Electrician will be needed to wire it up once it's installed in the car. We can even build this to suit the original steering wheel, contact us for details on this option. This comes standard with self-cancelling indicators and machined indicator stalk, hazard lights function and billet button, horn function and a double ball raced steering shaft. We build these with a 3/4" DD end shaft and supply a uni-joint with it. This is the most common method of coupling to the modified steering box, or intermediate shaft in the case of a rack and pinion steering upgrade. A polished finish is standard but we. An also give it a linished finish for those wanting to paint it before installation. We can also supply it anodised black for an additional $200. $1225 plus freight. BW.

13.01.2022 We're regularly making steering wheel hubs for aftermarket wheels to fit to a range of vehicles.

13.01.2022 EJ - EH Holden with a rear mount rack & pinion - problem solved. When a rear mounted rack & pinion steering system (typically a Commodore rack) is installed in an EJ or EH Holden, the angle of the intermediate shaft from the end of the column down to the pinion is steep. Steep to the point that the connecting universal joints will bind. We have designed a EJ - EH firewall plate with an integrated lower support cone that allows our steering column to sit further inside the ve...hicle. This effectively moves the pivot point of the uni joint on the column end further away from the pinion, resulting in a reduced overall angle of the intermediate shaft. The uni joints will then no longer bind, allowing a smooth rotation. Our firewall plate support is an available option for new EJ - EH steering column orders.

12.01.2022 FB-EK Custom Steering Column Build. We recently completed a fully machined billet aluminium collapsible steering column for a customer with a FB Holden that had a rack & pinion front end. High & Low beam toggle and high beam flasher control at the stalk was required and the customer also wanted to fit the original steering wheel as well. We built the column accordingly and included a lower column support bracket to be used in conjunction with the original firewall plate, and... a uni-joint to mate to their intermediate shaft. As with all of our column builds, it had our standard complement of ingredients such as a 4140 high tensile precision ground and machined centre shaft, upper and lower sealed roller bearings, and a polished finish. Another happy customer.

12.01.2022 Here's a column we recently completed for a Holden LC Torana. This was fully machined from billet aluminium and has just about everything on it. Collapsible design, self cancelling indicators, windscreen wiper on/off & speed control, windscreen washer button, hazard lights, high & low headlight beam toggle, high beam flasher, ignition barrel and a 6 hole hub for a sports wheel. All this in addition to our standard build components that includes double sealer roller bearin...gs and a precision machined and ground, high tensile 4140 chromoly centre shaft and output shaft. Designed to suit the original dash mount and existing lower uni joints. It looks amazing finished in satin black, the photos don't really do it justice. We hope the customer will be as pleased with it as we were building it.

12.01.2022 MINI STEERING COLUMNS !!!! Now available to order is our new column design for the legendary Morris/Leyland Mini. Available in either a collapsible (ADR10 compliant) or non-collapsible variant, it is fully machined from aircraft grade billet aluminium and is supplied fully polished with your choice of a 6 hole (70mm & 74mm PCD) or 9 hole hub to suit the aftermarket billet style wheels. Self cancelling indicators and horn contact are standard features. In addition to the sta...ndard features (self-cancelling left & right indicators and horn contact pass-through), upgrade options include a high/low beam toggle at the stalk with flasher function, linished finish (if you plan to paint it) or anodising in black for a stunning semi-satin black finish. We build the column to include our manufactured steering rack connector on the output shaft, so it will directly fit onto your existing rack. The column tube is the same diameter as the original allowing the use of the original dash to column bracket set up. You will only need an auto electrician to wire the column in for you once it's installed. Until now, Mini owners have had no option but to stay with the original factory drab column and upgrade other areas of the car. Our columns are a fantastic addition to the iconic Mini and will certainly distinguish it amongst the many standard Minis out there. Non-collapsible Mini column is $685.00 Collapsible Mini column is $795.00 Available to order now. Production lead times are approx 6 weeks from order. Proudly West Australian Made. All prices are in Australian Dollars.

11.01.2022 Billet Horn Button for GTS Original Wheel. This pad directly replaces the original rubbery pad that the original 6 hole GTS and SLR steering wheels had. We use the original style GTS and SLR badge in the centre just like the original. After 40+ years, the original pads will certainly be showing their age. This schmick polished billet aluminium replacement will solve that.... Fully machined and polished using 6061 T6 billet aluminium. The original pad is on the right in the pics for comparison. $225

10.01.2022 XA Ford Falcon Column with Push Button Start. Here is a column we recently completed for a customer's XA Ford Falcon. This collapsible column was built with a 9 hole steering wheel hub, self cancelling left & right indicators, high & low beam headlight toggle and high beam flasher at the stalk as well as push button start on the column body instead of the usual ignition barrel in that place. The customer also chose to have the column with a linished finish instead of a poli...shed finish and it looks great. Together with our supplied bush, grommet and new firewall seal, the original factory under dash and firewall mounts will also fit straight on for a quick and clean install. Built with our normal assortment of internal goodies, such as a machined and ground 4140 chrome moly centre shaft, upper and lower sealed roller bearings and stainless steel indicator stalk with a machined billet knob, makes this a tough column to suit an already tough car.

10.01.2022 So what does 'Billet' mean anyway? You don't have to go far these days to come across a product labelled with the term 'billet' this, 'billet' that, or 'billet style'. It seems to be an increasingly popular term that some manufacturers throw about casually, as a sales tactic rather than an actual manufacturing material descriptive. In other words, it's not really made from a metal billet, but they'll print it on the box or sales literature anyway, because it just sounds goo...d. A 'billet' of metal is a solid piece of metal, be it aluminium, steel or some other. The 'billet' is machined using various machine tools so that only the excess metal is removed, leaving only the desired part remaining. Similar in a way to how a sculpture may be carved from a solid block of wood, or chiselled from solid rock. Some other popular manufacturing methods are 'casting', where molten metal is poured into a pre-made mold, allowed to cool, and then removed. 'Sheetmetal fabrication' where a part is made from thin sheetmetal that is manipulated and formed into the desired shape or part. Some time back I saw a set of pedal covers, which consisted of hair thin stainless steel sheetmetal wrapped around a rubber moulding with a bracket fixed to the back of it. You guessed it, 'Billet Car Pedal Set' on the box. To illustrate what machining from a billet looks like, take a look at these pictures we took when we were machining a steering wheel hub for a customer. We start with a piece of aluminium that was cut from a length of bar stock. It is then machined on one side first (first operation), before being turned around and then the other side is machined (second operation). This is billet aluminium, and all of our steering columns and hubs and other products are machined in this way. BW.

09.01.2022 A customer recently asked us to build a polished billet aluminium steering column with PUSH BUTTON START, to suit their 1956 Ford F100 which already had a modified front end installed. The column had to be collapsible, fit the original upper and lower mounts already in the vehicle, suit the Uni-joint of the steering rack, have a full complement of electric features at the stalk (wipers and lights etc), and have a push button starter switch. As with all of our columns, this is... certified ADR compliant too. This is what we built....

06.01.2022 HK HT HG Steering Column Build - New Multifunction Switch with Headlight and Washer & Wiper Control This polished HKTG column build completed recently, is the first of a new breed of columns that feature our newly redesigned Multifunction Switch & Stalk. As with all of our column builds, this is collapsible, has fully machined upper and lower housings made from billet aluminium, a top of the range precision machined and ground high tensile steel centre shaft and double seal...ed roller bearings. This particular build also has our new Multifunction Switch & Stalk which in addition to the regular self-cancelling left & right indicators, it also has High & Low beam headlight toggle, High beam flasher, High & Low speed windscreen wiper control and a Windscreen Washer button. All of this functionality on a single stalk. In addition to a completely new stalk switch design, the assembly now tucks in better behind the outer profile of the steering wheel. It looks better and feels better. We're calling it the Full Monty 2.0. The customer has upgraded the front end of the vehicle to a rack & pinion, away from the original steering box, so we built this with a 3/4"DD output shaft so that a universal joint and intermediate shaft can bolt right up to it. An original HKTG Monaro steering wheel will be getting fitted to this and so the upper housing was machined accordingly. Want to have one of these HKTG columns for yourself? Follow the link to our website to explore the build options and place an order. Production lead time is approximately 6-8 weeks from order. https://billetworks.com.au//steering-column-for-holden-hk- BW

05.01.2022 We've been making the T5 & T56 gear knob and shifter for some time now. It is a one piece machined 6061 T6 aluminium gear stick and knob and suits T5 and T56 boxes. It is designed to bolt directly to the selector shaft coming out of the box. We have been asked many times if the knob is just screwed onto a machined shaft. No, this is a one piece unit. You can't get tougher than that. We designed this so that the shifter boot could attach using the groove at the base of the... knob profile. None of the shaft is exposed once it's installed. During our last production run, we took some pics for those interested in seeing a little bit behind the scenes. The last pic is a mockup of it in a shifter boot to show how it sits.

04.01.2022 Here's a machined horn cap we finished recently for a customer. This suits the original Torana LJ-LX GTR & SLR wheels. Also HQ-HZ GTS Monaro wheels. This was machined from a single aluminium billet and finished in satin black. A reproduction of the GTR badge was then fixed into the machined recess. Other badges such as GTS & SLR can also be used. Special Black Socket Head cap screws included.

04.01.2022 The completion of these last two polished LC Torana columns finishes off an order of four that are about to head over to New Zealand. Both of these columns have been built with high & low beam headlight toggle, high beam flasher, 2 speed windscreen wiper and washer control, a hub to suit an aftermarket steering wheel and of course the usual self-cancelling left & right indicators and horn connection. They were also built with a different output shaft and to a custom length as our customer had some specific requirements in this regard. Naturally our columns are fully collapsible and ADR10 compliant and also approved for use in New Zealand. Stay safe everyone.

04.01.2022 Custom FJ Column. We recently completed a special build for a customer who needed a collapsible column for a heavily modified FJ Holden. The column was to be built using an existing partially modified factory column that was supplied to us as a sample to work from and have the same features and fitment... The finished column had an output shaft to suit a Torana uni, specially shaped firewall plate welded to the body of the column, and an upper dash bracket. It also had self-cancelling indicators, a hazard lights button, upper and lower sealed roller bearings on the 4140 high tensile steel centre steering shaft and a 9 hole hub to suit a billet style steering wheel, all with a polished finish. For the eagle-eyed amongst you, yes the indicator stalk is not pictured as it was already packed up in the box :-) As this was a time-critical build, the column was sent by overnight express once completed.

04.01.2022 Billet Works Column Fact #17. The centre shafts in all of our columns are made from Precision Ground 4140 High Tensile Steel. The top ends are first turned and threaded, and then have the splines machined into then. The bottom ends (output) are either splined or milled to a profile, depending on the application.

04.01.2022 Porsche 356 Billet Steering Column. The Porsche 356 was built between 1948 and 1965 and is an impressive example of early post-WW2 Austrian and German automotive engineering. A customer recently asked us to build a fully machined collapsible steering column for their Porsche 356, that is being restored back to its former glory. Because a collapsible column is a modern requirement of licensing this vehicle, we set about designing a column specifically to suit.... The customer also wanted our new column to have a similar look to the original Porsche made unit, so we chose a tapering secant ogive (bullet tip) profile that would both share a similar factory shape while also giving enough internal room for all of the components to fit. Together with the indicator stalk to be on the left hand side, this overall profile formed the foundation of the column design. The column was machined from 6061 T6 billet aluminium, has self cancelling indicators, high and low beam toggle, high beam flasher, a 4140 'chromoly' steering shaft that rotates through double sealed roller bearings, a flanged output shaft to directly mate up to the original rag joint that fits to the steering box, and of course a collapsible lower housing and steering shaft. A 9 hole Moto-Lita steering wheel was to be fitted, so a 9 hole steering hub was machined to suit both the wheel and the supplied Moto-Lita horn button. The column and hub components were then given a polished finish before final assembly. This is the finished product.

01.01.2022 Billet Steering Column for HD & HR Holden. 01.01.2022 LC - LJ Torana Hybrid Steering Column A customer of ours recently asked us to come up with a collapsible column to suit a LJ Torana, but with a twist. The customer's LJ had been modified by a previous owner to look like a LC. In keeping with that direction of the project, the customer wanted to fit an original LC GTR steering wheel & hub directly onto the column. As many of you will already know, the LC and the LJ have a different sized steering shaft spline and taper, mak...ing the direct fitting of an original LC wheel & hub impossible. We came up with a column build to suit the structural requirements of the LJ so that the column will fit straight into the vehicle using the original dash mount and a new firewall plate we supplied, but we machined the steering shaft to a different spline size and taper, allowing the LC wheel & hub to fit straight on. The switchgear we use in our columns is different to the LC factory switch, so a new horn contact/indicator cancelling cam (the part that fits onto the back of the original wheel) was made specially to suit the new combination. This allows the original hub to work with the new switchgear. Horn connection: Check. Indicator self-cancelling: Check. The LC also had the ignition barrel on the dash whereas the LJ had the ignition on the column itself. So to keep everything looking as LC as possible, an ignition barrel wasn't included in this build, with the customer to relocate an ignition barrel to the dash at some point. Once the machined components returned back from their visit to the Anodisers, the column was assembled with the regular complement of gear. Upper & lower sealed roller bearings, 4140 high tensile steering shaft, output shaft to suit the original Torana uni-joint. After the subsequent electrical work on the column was completed, it was boxed up and shipped out. Check out the pictures of this interesting column combination. We think the customer will be very happy.
