23.01.2022 Gipsie Jack - Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2018 Joining forces to make this beautiful Shiraz are wine making legends John Glaetzer & Ben Potts. John was senior wine maker for Wolf Blass. During this time they amassed an unrivaled four of the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophies for Australia’s top red wine. Also winning eleven Montgomery Trophies for the finest red wines at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show.... Ben Potts is the sixth generation to be involved in winemaking and grape growing in Langhorne Creek. The family vineyard is where Ben spent his childhood. Its safe to say, Ben has wine coursing through his veins. Selected parcels of Estate grown Shiraz from their 60 year old vines along with locally sourced grapes was used to make this wine. Experience and innovation created a partnership between two friends - Gipsie Jack is a story of mateship, tales of helping out when times are tough and celebrating when times are good. 22.01.2022 Vandenberg Limestone Coast Shiraz 2018 Richie Vandenberg is a name that might ring a bell. Captaining the mighty Hawks from 2005-2007 he played 148 games from 1998-2007. In 2013, with a business degree under his belt and a 25 year association within the wine industry, Richie, along with some other like minded business partners, launched Vandenberg Wine. The goal? To produce premium wines and this shiraz is no exception.... In 1857 the Koning Willem II foundered on the rocks of the Limestone Coast, after parting with her anchor in a westerly gale. Ari Vandenberg was one of the nine survivors. As he looked back at the wreck that had almost claimed his life, he vowed to thame this wild land and make his mark upon it. A full-bodied, mouth-watering Shiraz with notes of mulberry and violets and a delicate hint of peppery spice. Finely woven tannins produce a plush mid palate and lingering finish. 10.01.2022 Over a couple of beers (between lock downs) a mate and I came up with the idea of selling bagged firewood. We sourced, split and bagged up our firewood ready for sale. We kicked off theWe’ve Got Woodcampaign with the usual social media posts.... Tony Jones from Channel 9 picked us up while searching on IG for firewood stories to report on as there has been a shortage in Melbourne this winter. With families being locked down we are all burning more wood. Between the Channel 9 News Facebook page, our own Facebook and Instagram accounts (both paid and organic), our campaign reached close to 100k people on socials. Community FB and IG groups also helped tremendously with our reach. Along with 350k people tuning into Channel 9 News Melbourne. 2 1/2 truck loads of wood sold in under two weeks. Of our wood sales 35% of those sales took up our 6 bottle wine and wood deal which included free local delivery. Seriously good for a little cafe in Balwyn The response has been unbelievable! Will we do it next year? You bet! A huge thank you to you legends for your continued support of our lil’ family business, especially through these tough times We’ve managed to secure a few more bags of firewood for these next few days to keep you legends toasty warm. 03.01.2022 Under The Radar Meet these two blokes behind the Distant Liaison Cocktails we’re now stocking. Albeit under the radar. These two mates had a dream. A dream that has come to fruition during this lockdown.... They set out to produce exceptional cocktails - handmade and homemade using premium spirits. Let’s call mate 1 Bert. He has 20 years in the liquor industry (16 years in wine and 4 in spirits). Bert has become passionate about cocktails and making high end drinks accessible for people at home; not only through the current pandemic but ongoing. Bert has lived in the local area his whole life. Mate 2 we’ll call Ernie. Also local, a finance professional & entrepreneur. Bert and Ernie got together, and over some drinks, Distant Liaison was conceived. Ernie too has become passionate about quality cocktails and to deliver and share the experience with others at home. The guys at Distant Liaison have been blown away by the response. 02.01.2022 Long post warning The year that was..... Boy has this been a difficult one for so many ... We have been SO fortunate to be one of the businesses that has come out the other end. This is all due to the overwhelming support that this lil’ community has shown us through this incredibly tough year and we are forever grateful The term pivot has been well and truly overused - But pivot we did. Starting with a Mother’s Day special. Cupcakes by Natalie Claire Bakes . This campaign was SO successful that it got us thinking, what else could we do? We kicked off with the firewood and wine campaign which saw us on Channel 9 news reaching over 100k people on socials We started stocking ready to pour cocktails by Distant Liaison. The guys behind this new startup convinced us to stock their product. I was hesitant at first but after our initial post to Facebook and IG, they literally flew off the shelves. Local garden honey by Home Spun Honey was next to be stocked at the shop. I think we have sold around 85kgs of their amazing honey An egg carton drive to help Camcare pack donated eggs by Josh's Rainbow Eggs to help feed those in need was also a huge success Our Bin 3 hampers put together by the hugely talented Deanne Tolley also flew off the shelves. We got our first corporate order which saw 30 hampers delivered to offices in the Docklands The City of Boroondara granted us a permit to utilise three car parks out the front of our shop as part of the outdoor dining initiative. We fitted out The Birdcage which is now up and running and the response has been amazing We have also redesigned our shop signage and have launched our new e-commerce store www.bin3.com.au (soon to be officially launched!) All of our campaigns have supported local businesses whose product is locally produced, homemade and handmade. We believe this has played a huge part in the success of all of them We’ve got big plans for next year.... But for now THANK YOU, LEGENDS!!! Wishing you all a VERY Happy New Year!
