13.01.2022 Following the results of the Mountain Bike Park Survey, (which can be found here:https://www.chittering.wa.gov.au//mountain-bike-and-/10245), and the Sport and Recreation Survey, the project is continuing to be progressed. The following steps have so far been undertaken: Council approved funds for an environmental consult to undertake an environmental survey on the Western side of the hill. Unfortunately, it was too late to perform the required spring survey so this will... not be able to be completed until Spring 2021; Council indicated that they want the Mountain Bike Park to be a self-sustaining project and a business plan that demonstrates this will need to be developed before further progression of the development of the Mountain Bike Park; Shire Officers commenced researching and developing a business model that meets the requirements of Council; Council approved the reallocation of funds from the environmental study to the development of a business case and grant application. This application will be focused on Building Better Regions Funding, Round 5, and the development of the Eastern side of the hill, which is already cleared land. During this process Council will need to discuss purchase of the land that the project will be situated on. There are many different development opportunities for the overall project, and while this comes with many opportunities, it also means that the initial planning process is slow as all the opportunities and how the opportunities fit into each other are analysed to determine what the best way forward is for the community. We will endeavour to keep you updated as this project continues to evolve. See more

09.01.2022 PROGRESS UPDATE: Bindoon Mountain Bike and Adventure Park. Masterplan and Trailhead Design: A design workshop was held last month with the Mountain Bike Park Steering Group and Chittering Tourism Advisory Group. The purpose was to identify what exciting additional opportunities could be investigated at the Bindoon Mountain Bike and Adventure Park following the trails and infrastructure in Stage 1. ... A great session produced ideas around accommodation, adventure park, stairs and lookout, kids bike track, interactive centre and stargazing site amongst others. The information will be used to assist in the design of the park and layout of the trailhead for Stage 1 of the Park. Funding: Any time now we should hear whether we are the recipient of a grant from the Australian Government's "Building Better Regions Fund". However, we are also working on preparing contingency funding from other avenues should this not eventuate, or better, in addition to this funding. In the meantime: We've had feature surveys undertaken of the trailhead ready to produce the final detailed trailhead design, and are currently undertaking necessary environmental studies in readiness for trail construction. Watch this space! -Euan.

09.01.2022 In the December Ordinary Council Meeting The Shire of Chittering resolved to commence preparation for a grant application for the Bindoon Mountain Bike Park in the upcoming Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) round. This means that the Shire is preparing the documents required to be ‘grant ready’ for Stage 1 of the project, that would include up to twelve mountain bike trails ranging in difficulty from green to black and a large walking trail around the perimeter. A concep...t plan is being prepared by local Chittering-based trail developers Three Chillies Design. Following the concept, detailed drawings of a number of elements of the overall plan will be prepared ready for a 'Stage 1' submission in the next BBRF round. BBRF is a federally funded grant that supports regional infrastructure projects. This latest round has a dedicated pool of funding for tourism. Applications are due 5 March 2021 and grant recipients set to be announced in mid-2021 The Shire is also investigating purchase of the land as part of this process
