21.01.2022 Hey locals! We need help replanting seagrass meadows, so we’re inviting the whole community to bring their families down to the Cockburn Power Boat Club on 21st... November to help out. 80% of our seagrass meadows have been depleted and it’s time to do something before we lose them for good. Come and enjoy a free family fun day and be part of restoring our local fishing habitat. There will be displays, entertainment and more. It is the perfect opportunity to give back and teach the kids the importance of caring for our marine ecosystem.

21.01.2022 Nearly at the end of our SW estuaries field trip where we are sampling the water column, sediments, bivalves and air for microplastics. This is part of an inter...national collaboration with Uni of Southampton (UK), funded by a UWA resesearch collaboration award, and sits within our TransPlas project which also includes China. Our UK colleagues could not be here with us but we have been zooming in with them each evening after our day in the field (and the start of their day in the field taking similar samples in their estuaries). We have two masters students involved, Jen (SBS) and Saras (SAGE), and they have been powering through there sampling and water filtering... working from sun up to well after sun down. Harriet and I have been super impressed with their work. Had a special little helper on one of our days in Perth! Been a fantastic trip so far with these ladies and hope to do this again soon!
