22.01.2022 Don't forget to head over to Facebook page of Bird Vet Melbourne for Bird stuff

21.01.2022 The aim of a veterinary dental is to leave our loved patients and pets with a pain free, infection free mouth. Veterinary dentists do not necessarily try to save all the teeth. "Bully" IS one of our bigger patients this week, weighing 56 kgs. The dental treatments involved routine cleaning, but also extensive, under the gum cleaning called sub gungival curettage and adding periodontal gum sealants. Bully also had excessive gum tissue removed, the procedure is called gingivectomy. Our Dental cases go home the same day. Picture 1 Bully after the dental, Picture 2 the gums after the treatments, Picture 3 the dental support staff, two veterinary nurses and a trainee.

15.01.2022 Shiko is a really special, patient. Mature is wisdom and age. Loved and doted on by gorgous owners. He came in for his regular health check, after we carefully removed many infected teeth a few years ago. We did blood tests on him, and will be monitoring for canine cognitive dysfunction or canine dementia that is becoming so prevalent in our older pets. There are medications now that are helpful for many canine geriatrics.

14.01.2022 What a great way to start the day, both so cute and hsppy to be at the vet, No owners allowed in. Shih tzu and Maltese and their crosses are some of the most common pet dogs we see. They are super intelligent, don't shed hair, and are cuddly. In for ears and skin.

13.01.2022 So cute and mesmerising

06.01.2022 Yin yoga for dogs.

01.01.2022 Dental therapy in a 2 kg pet. Tiny mouth to drill in and remove damaged teeth, cut excessive gums, and repair a fracture of a canine. Recovery was excellent in a heated hospital cage at 24 degrees. Smaller pets need a warm quiet environment post anaesthesia.
