21.01.2022 Port Stephens will have their very first Fluro Salty Saturday the 10th of October @ At Birubi Beach!!! OneWave Port Stephens is a non-profit surf community rais...ing awareness of mental health with a simple recipe...saltwater, surfing and fluro. 1 in 5 people experience mental health issues each year and 65% of these people people don't seek treatment. OneWave lets people know they are not alone and encourages them to get in the ocean, surf it out and talk about it. It doesn't matter if you're riding wave for the first or the hundredth time...you never forget that feeling of being on a wave and letting everything go. OneWave is all it takes. OneWave holds monthly Fluro Saturday's sunrise sessions to raise awareness for mental health. We dress up in the brightest outfits possible and surf/swim/do yoga. Fluro makes people smile and it gets people asking important questions, which are normally avoided about mental health. Everyone is welcome and it's a free event. https://www.facebook.com/events/806006850134448?acontext=%7B%22source%22%3A5%2C%22action_history%22%3A[%7B%22surface%22%3A%22page%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22main_list%22%2C%22extra_data%22%3A%22%5C%22[]%5C%22%22%7D]%2C%22has_source%22%3Atrue%7D

17.01.2022 A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO ALL BIRUBI SURF CLUB MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. I would like to extend my very best wishes to all of our Volunteer members and their families for a Happy Christmas and hopefully a very much brighter New Year in 2021. This year has certainly been like no other that we have ever previously experienced and for that reason I want to extend my sincere thanks to all of you that have continued to turn up to Patrol every weekend and give your time freely, to e...nsure the safety of all members of the public that visit our beach. I also wish to thank the very hard-working Committee of our Surf Club that continue to do all of the many arduous tasks behind the scenes that generally go unnoticed, nevertheless without these loyal and dedicated people that give generously of their time, our Club would not run as well as it does. I want to make special mention of our Trainers that have had to work under much more difficult circumstances this year due to COVID restrictions in facilitating our patrolling members proficiencies. It has also been an unenviable initiation for our new Patrol Captain, Greg Williams this year. Taking on the role in such difficult circumstances has not been easy, however, to his credit he is doing an outstanding job. So, thank you all again for your contributions to the best Surf Lifesaving Club on the Eastern Seaboard and enjoy your time with your families over this Holiday Season and please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Norm Barnes President Birubi Point Surf Lifesaving Club.
