25.01.2022 I was just reading this bedtime story, Fran's Flower, to my kids and I couldn't help but notice the similarities to growing a business. 'A business needs the right nutrients to grow'. Simply wishing for it to grow and feeding it the wrong stuff won't work. The story Fran's Flower, by Lisa Bruce & Rosalind Beardshaw goes like this... "One day Fran found a flowerpot filled with soil. Poking out of the top was a tiny tip. 'I will grow this flower,' Fran said to Fred.... She took it home. 'Grow flower,' she said. But the tip stayed tiny. I think the flower is hungry,' Fran told Fred. So Fran went to the fridge. She found some of her favourite food. She gave the flower a slice of pizza. The next day Fran gave it a piece of cheeseburger. She gave it spaghetti, two chocolate biscuits and a large spoonful or strawberry ice-cream. She even gave it one of Fred's juicy bones. But the flower didn't grow. The tip stayed tiny. Fran got fed up. 'Silly flower,' she said, and she threw it out of the back door. The flowerpot fell on the ground and rolled away. The rain fell on it. The wind blew on it. The sun shone on it. It grew... and grew... and grew. One day Fran and Fred went out of the back door. To their surprise they found... a beautiful big flower!" What are you feeding your business, that is doesn't need or want in trying to grow? Instead, what can you give your business that might be much simpler, that will enable it to grow more easily?

25.01.2022 Want video for your business? Video is now huge. Even for simple messages. In the past I've sent off recordings to our virtual assistants to smarten up (for another of my businesses), however I recently learnt more about the power of simple to use video creation platforms. Animoto and Shakr are two that I tested out. Both are good, however I decided on Animoto as the pricing was better, it had more versatility for making easy changes and it was easier to incorporate the busi...ness logo. Shakr videos appear to be less flexible, however do have a bigger 'wow' factor about them. A big part I liked is the ability to mix both video and still image content, easily add extra sections and easily make changes to cut and adjust to re-purpose for various uses. Whether that be website, Facebook, marketing, DIY video and more. 04.01.2022 An interesting article on the use of interesting job titles in job descriptions to attract great people. This is a great idea for the title itself and a great inclusion in your adverts. The key is to remember, that the Position Description thereafter, must have a significant focus on responsibilities and accountabilities to enable effective delegation and team management in your business. Without this, you might have attracted great people, that are not able to be held accountable to their roles.

03.01.2022 Evernote is one of my favourite and most useful programs. I use it every day for keeping my notes, webpages and more. I use it for both business and personal extensively. I don't usually send emails to it and prefer the power of Google/Gmail for searching my emails and avoid double up... Generally. However, today I had an email that I really wanted to be able to reference quite often in the future, so it made sense to get it into Evernote. Very quickly and easily emails can... be sent straight to Evernote, learn more below. Other people prefer to use Evernote extensively with their email system.
