16.01.2022 Are you getting PAID on time Here are 5 tips on invoicing your customers Make sure your invoice has the correct information and it is clear and easy to understand. It is a good idea to have your business logo on the top of the invoice and the details of the job are listed clearly for the customer. Make sure you included:... o Your ABN o Your payment terms and due date o Your bank account details it is good to not include spaces or characters that can’t be copied and pasted to online banking Send your invoice as a PDF not word/excel document! This eliminates the issue of not being able to open due to the client not having the software to do so, it also eliminates changes being made! If you are using an online accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks Online it is also good practice to include the PDF when sending the invoice so that the customer can send directly via email to their receipt capturing software’s such as receipt bank. Invoice as soon as possible on completion of the job or sale of the product - The client will pay sooner when the value of the product or services is fresh in their mind! If you have recurring jobs, you can set up repeating invoices in most accounting programs If your software has the option to have invoice reminders sent to customers on overdue invoices, turn this feature on! But be sure to receipt payments once they are paid so not to annoy customers with reminders on bills they have paid! Get paid faster with online invoice payments by using a global payment service such as Stripe or GoCardless! If in doubt speak to your bookkeeper or accountant
