21.01.2022 Flexi connectors, did you know they have a life expectancy? Have you thought about what would happen if one burst? Recently I have been called out to replace some hoses that where old and one as you can see had burst. These clients have insurance to assess the damages, however this is not going to be a one day fix and the cost will no doubt be thousands. The cost however isn't the biggest thing, its the physical and mental anguish that comes with these events. having str...angers come in and value your goods that are damaged. Waiting to see what is and isn't covered. The heat and noise from drying out the house. Then it will be the job of fixing it all tradies in and out for days maybe weeks and it goes on and on. So what can be done, well check your flexi connectors. they are a braided hose with a rubber core unless very new they maybe PEX. However the process is the same, put you fingers wrapped around the hose and slide down the hose. Feeling for bumps and sharps bends kinks etc. If something doesn't feel right get it checked and or replaced. Also note that it is best practise to have shut off valves attached at the start of the hose so that it can be isolated. In the Picture they didn't have valves so the meter had to be shut off meaning going to the other end and outside the house to stop the water (lots of water). With in the last 5 years or so flexi hoses have dates stamped on them. You can find this near the hex connection at the end of the hose. it will have a month and year e.g 01/19. If the hose is rubber and older than 7 years have them replaced. If you cant find a date its likely to be old and should be replaced. Feel free to call for an inspection......
