25.01.2022 Fledgling Alert Every year countless birds are brought into vets unnecessarily, as they are trying to learn to fly. If you spot a baby bird on the ground please follow these steps: 1) observe. If it does not appear injured (limping, falling over, struggling to breath)please leave it there... 2) intervene if they are in immediate danger only. Eg: are they on a road or in a yard with dogs? Place a safe distance away from the danger, preferably up off the ground. 3) call a vet for advice before bringing in, as most often they should be left where they are. These birds often take time to rest on the ground in between practice flights and removing them is both highly stressful and counter productive.

16.01.2022 Friday October 9 is Vet Nurse Day! Leading up to our celebrations we thought you might like an introduction to our amazing team of nurses: Last but not least we have Liesl. Liesl is a both a Registered Veterinary Nurse and Accredited Veterinary Nurse, who has been with us since 2008. She completed her Certificate iv in Veterinary Nursing in Dec 2014 and is our Head Nurse. Her favourite aspects of nursing are dental care and anaesthesia. Obviously nothing ...beats minty fresh kisses after a good dental clean and as no two anaesthetics are ever the same she loves the constant challenge. Away from the clinic Liesl has a veritable menagerie of rescued babies. There are the cats BB and JJ, the cockatoo King Boo, the eclectus parrot Yoshi, Arya the bearded dragon, Freddy (Kruger/Mercury) the snake. And finally the 5 rabbits Elspeth, Eadie, Terrance, Phillip and Peggy. See more
